I had such high hopes for this place. I like some things (lock system access from your phone), but unfortunately, the only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is for the location. I loved being right next to the park and near downtown midtown. However, one the problems that arise because of the location was an issue with people breaking into the building. This building is supposed to be locked 24/7 but in the last 3 month I lived there, the front door was unlocked 90% of the time. I reached out to Danny about this and he stated it was the resident's job to make sure "the door was pushed in all the way". Well none of us knew this and also why not just get a door that fits on the frame? Because the door was unlocked most of the time, homeless and others who did not live in the building would come in frequently. For most of this past spring, someone was constantly camped out in our common area/package room bathroom. Additionally, when homeless people would be locked into the garages (you need a fob to get out), they would pull the fire alarm to open the doors. As I'm sure you'll see from other reviews, we had a run for about two months where at least one fire alarm was pulled per week. These alarms usually went off around 4am. One morning when I went to vacate the building, I ran into the homeless person who pulled the alarm. They proceeded to yell at me to get the F away from them while we were in the lobby. Along with the safety concerns and fire alarms going off, maintenance would not alert you to when they were entering your apartment. We had workers in our space for two days with no warning or reason from management. When we couldn't get a response from Danny or anyone else, we asked the workers and turns out we had water in our ceiling and they needed to construct our patio ceiling. Maintenance would also enter bedroom and other private spaces with no warning. If you live here, I'd recommend getting a ring camera or security device because they would literally just come in on their own accord. Other things (poop in the stairwell, people not having dogs on their leash or not cleaning up after their dogs, small parking spaces, call box was always broken) were just due to poor upkeep of the apartment and bad neighbors. Danny almost always was "in a meeting" when you tried to call him, but he was kind of a saving grace after we went through 2 other horrible apartment managers within a span of a couple months. He didn't always get back to me or my roommate but we appreciated he was doing better than the last two managers. Overall, If you're interested in the Piedmont park area, I'd look elsewhere. The rent was raised by 350$ and is comparable to larger apartments with more amenities (pool, better commons areas, security, etc.) There is literally one across the street 🙂
