***Before you read further - MY NEIGHBOR HAD HIS 2009 BMW STOLEN FORM THE 3400 PARKING LOT WHILE HE SLEPT IN HIS APARTMENT. They caught his car driving away on video, but wouldn't do anything else to help him, and the car was never retrieved. 3400's city is "Costa Mesa" but you can literally throw a rock from the property to Santa Ana, and your phone will tell you you're in Santa Ana when you're there. Don't be fooled. I lived at 3400 for about 3.5 years in multiple units. The property is beautiful and the amenities are great. That is the ONLY plus. The gardeners do a great job. The office is the absolute worst, most unprofessional management I've ever encountered at any apartment I've ever lived, and it's such a shame for the price. You have to do the work for them, and they do *not* think outside the box whatsoever. Security is HORRIBLE. Cough too loud and you'll have security at your door telling you to quiet down. No joke, security knocked on my door as I was quietly reading a book (no music or TV on) by myself at home -- telling me to quiet down. They are quick to pester anyone they feel, but when you need them for real help, forget it. There are a LOT of crime and break-in activities at 3400. The staff puts notices on your door about it every 3-4 weeks, and it's probably because security is too busy knocking on doors at 4 PM tying to get people to quiet down rather than checking people coming through gate like they should be. The parking is ridiculous, so I don't recommend having many friends over because they won't find a parking spot. I had a friend circle the lot once for half an hour and eventually give up. The walls are PAPER THIN and so are the floors/ceilings. Almost all units there are hardwood floors, so enjoy listening to every footstep above you & be ready for the people below you to complain about you walking too hard. Godspeed if your neighbors are women who like to wear heels. My car's paint was almost destroyed by a vent in the parking lot over my space. It took me close to 6 weeks to finally get them to let me change my parking spot. Again the office doesn't think for themselves & don't see why a pipe leaking some unidentified gas over your car is a problem. Speaking of parking, all cars are parked on the ground level with the "first level" of apartments on the 2nd story. There are several motorcycles who leave throughout the morning that make EVERY CAR ALARM GO OFF IN THE ENTIRE COMPLEX. Between that & the neighbors walking above you, don't plan to sleep too much at 3400. Living at 3400 got progressively worse until I finally couldn't take it anymore. For $2,500 a month for a 2B/2BA in "Costa Mesa" (Santa Ana), you're better off saving $800 and moving to another spot in Santa Ana. Trust me on this one, 3400 is the absolute pits. I have never felt more strong about writing a Yelp review than I do now due to my disgust with 3400.
