The base rent is high but tolerable for the area UNTIL you realize they will nickel and dime you for everything. Your rent will not be what you agree to in your lease. They use some unknown method to calculate utilities (very vague in lease), so you end up paying way more than you ever imagined. My issues in particular is with the gas portion of the bill. When I initially moved in, i payed $5 to $47 a month just for gas. That rate increased to $86, then $118! And that is ONLY for gas, not including water, trash, sewer, service fees, etc. Keep in mind I am a single person living in a 604 sq ft unit and am rarely home. The AC/heat and range are electric-operated I believe. WHY IS THE GAS SO HIGH? I'm also paying an electric bill independently. When asked how utilities are calculated, I received vague responses that only sound sympathetic to quiet my inquiries. It feels as if they are increasing the rent through illegal means, as there is no way to confirm if these fees are legitimate or if the rental property is adding costs that should be included in the rent price and clearly listed in the lease. If their practices were legitimate, why not provide this information to their tenants? If you have money to burn and/or are coming from a coastal city, living here might seem like a steal. Otherwise, go somewhere else. My experience hasnt been horrible, but I'm not renewing either. Look around and ask detailed questions before committing to this place. I wish I had. I cannot wait to get out of here and spend my hard earned cash on things that actually matter.
