I cannot say enough negative things about Chestnut Hall and its management. My apartment ceiling was incredibly cracked upon move-in. It was only addressed when it came time to renew my lease. When it was "fixed," the maintenance worker admitted it was severe water damage that had not been addressed. Rather than addressing it, maintenance put a new layer of plaster and paint over top of the water damage, which quickly bubbled and cracked again. Aside from that, management does not respond to emails, texts, or calls; countless messages went unanswered. The management office also closes randomly without warning, despite their hours listed on the door. Further, trash was constantly outside of the trash shoot and left in the hallways. Lights were constantly out in the hallways and would be left that way for months. Even the lobby area has its damages, the ceiling is cracked and peeling. The lobby flooring even has swastikas on it in certain places. I understand it's an old building, but that should have been addressed awhile ago. The only upside to this apartment is that the security guards and cleaning workers are incredibly friendly and always willing to help.
