All you have to do if you want to find out what's wrong with the Foxchase community is go online and read the reviews. They're very bad and quite frankly a true representation of how foxchase is perceived. I lived there for about 3 years and the only reason is because its one of the cheapest places to live in that part of Alexandria that's not section 8. I left foxchase because my wife got a job out of state and after paying the ridiculous 2 months rent fee to break our lease I receive a bill in the mail at my new address for 26 dollars. On top of charging me the last two months water and sewer they charged me 100 for "scuff marks" on the walls and 50 for not returning the ridiculous foxchase ID's that nobody uses. I tried to schedule a move out inspection at a time when I could be there to contest any charges but they explained to me it has to be after I move out. Well I moved out of state and have no plans to return to foxchase for a move out inspection. This just left the door wide open for them to make anything up that was wrong with the apartment and charge me for it. Me and my wife spent hours cleaning everything in that apartment top to bottom and then to loose all of the 300 dollar deposit because the movers might have scuffed the wall when loading the truck up is just bullshit. Which doesn't make any sense because I was told by our leasing agent that every apartment gets new paint in-between tenets, so why they where so concerned about scuff makes and charging me 100$ for them is just crap. The whole foxchase experience has made me very angry and I intend to make my voice heard online in the hopes that I can persuade potential renters to avoid foxchase at all costs. Stealing all of my security deposit was just the icing on the cake and the reason I'm so angry right now. Foxchase is a livable place but most of the community is in disrepair and the maintenance incompetent. I called maintenance to let them know that the interior hollow core wood door that they installed outside on my balcony (and didn't even paint) for the HVAC closet was chewed through by a squirrel or some kind of rodent. There response was quick but they just had some contractor come and replace it because I guess the maintenance crew is to dumb to replace a door. Before I get off topic I didn't have a problem with that, my problem was that the contractor or maintenance never told me they where coming. I was just sitting on the coach one evening when they slammed a ladder against my balcony and climbed aboard. the crew ripped the old door out and didn't have a new one to preplace it with yet so they left me with no door for a day which made it easy for some rodent to get into the rafters and live. I told the crew that an animal was up there and to get it out but they just ignored me and installed the new unpainted hollow core wood door which has probably been chewed through again. I have a bunch of stories just like this about maintenance and the management but my review is already to long and most people wont read it all. If you take anything away from what I've written just know that this place does NOT go above and beyond for there renters if anything they fight you tooth and nail and if they think your wrong they just point to something in the 30 plus page lease about why they can't or won't do it. Everyone hates apartment shopping but there is a ton of places around Foxchase that offer the same and nicer amenities in newer complex's with out all the bullshit for around the same or slightly higher prices.
