No wonder they keep sending reminders to write a review practically right after moving in. I would advise you to wait a few months at least!! I lived at Island Club Apartments from August 2021 - August 2023. I had an upstairs unit that was cute on the inside with high ceilings and updated appliances. The outside of the buildings and overall look of the place are rundown looking. The first subject of concern was how many times they turned the water off in my building within the first couple of months. It was like a every two-week thing - we'd get an email or letter to say the water would be off due to (a broken pipe or whatever else). I found that odd. In October, I came home one evening and noticed a water spot on the ceiling in the kitchen. I contacted maintenance and was informed that there was a "slow water leak in a pipe within the roof" - the project required them to demolition the wall that divided the kitchen from my bathroom! I just moved in a couple months prior, so you can imagine my frustration and alarm that so much was going on within a short period. I was displaced for a couple of nights because the fans were loud and I felt uncomfortable. I reached out Christy Arnold, the Property Manager about some compensation or discount on rent and she didn't respond for several days. Then when she did call me back, she claimed to have responded to me but reception was bad so that may have been why I never received it. Anyways, no credit to rent. Fast forward 9 months and we get new nightmare neighbors below us. These guys smoked weed openly (although Island Club claims to be a smoke-free community), and were extremely loud and obnoxious. They took only one complaint seriously and that's because other neighbors in the building across from us witnessed and heard how loud these guys were and how dismissive and disrespectful they were to me. Complaints about marijuana were ignored or I was told to call security to have a witness...OK, great. They did roof repair work and gave us 1 notice with an estimate of when the work would finish up. Unfortunately, the job was extended due to weather and other factors but the office neglected to notify tenants that they would continue to be abruptly surprised at 8AM with the sounds and vibrations of drills, fallen debris, people talking and footsteps above - for an additional 3 weeks! When I moved out, my final bill included DOUBLE the amount for painting and cleaning that I was told. If someone has lived in a unit for 2 years, isn't it necessary to do some refresh painting, anyway? One PLUS - the maintenance crew is always timely and nice! Sheesh, it was quite the experience living at Island Club Apartments. Good luck!
