****BED BUGS**** I am updating my review because this place has changed a great deal since management changed about a year or so ago (2014). Just to give a blunt report of the situation: Monday, 11/2/15: Found bed bugs in apartment. Tuesday, 11/3/15: Visited leasing office 3 times to request pest control services for the bed bugs that we found in our apartment. Wednesday, 11/4/15: Filed online service request for pest control services (to keep a paper trail in case they dropped the ball). No contact from Meadow Creek. Thursday, 11/5/15: Meadow Creek told us a pest control company would be by on Friday to inspect and potentially fumigate. Additionally, we let them know that we booked our own company (on our own dime) today and that the company would steam the apartment. However we still wanted the additional pest control company promised by Meadow Creek, just in case company #1 didn't rid the place of bugs. Friday, 11/6/15: We are still waiting for pest control company to come by... Reasons to stay away: - We learned from our pest control guy that the apartment directly next to ours had a bed bug infestation months prior to ours. - We saw a mattress by the dumpster near our unit that was covered in bed bugs. Unclear which unit or building it was from. - We were not told by the leasing office of either of these infestations. If we had known, we could have proactively set up traps or had a pest control company come in to inspect and treat potential areas. We also wouldn't have renewed our lease a few months ago, which now expires in July 2015. GREAT. The rundown.... My boyfriend and I recently came home from a 10-day trip out of state to find BED BUGS in our couch and bed. We immediately took action to get rid of all the affected furniture, and the next morning my boyfriend visited our leasing office to see if A) other apartments were affected B) if they would help us contact a pest control company. We also did our own research and called a local bed bug specialist, and booked an appointment for ASAP - the next morning. We understood that we would need to cover this cost since we were handling it ourselves. (About $600). At the same time, we decided to also get the help of the Meadow Creek leasing office just in case our pest control guy didn't work out. After visiting the Meadow Creek leasing office three times, we were told that they "would try to contact a company" and would call us to let us know when the company would be able to come out. They said that they would cover the cost for this additional pest control company. We heard NOTHING from the leasing office for 2 1/2 days. This was after multiple in-person contacts with maintenance and staff, as well as a physical service request that I filed online. It is now Friday and we have not yet had a visit from the pest control company, or any additional contact from Meadow Creek. Additional reasons to stay away: - A friend moved out because his ceiling caved in and covered his family's living room in asbestos. - Tenants regularly receive posted notes on their door about things such as: Having too many plants on your balcony, smoking in common areas or on balconies (this one is probably once a month at least), shutting off the water (once a month at least), pets, etc. I often feel like they treat this like a college dorm, as opposed to an apartment community for adults.
