I lived here for a year from 6/10-6/11, and that was long enough for me. I could go on for a long time about the negatives, but I will only list a few major ones here. The walls are very thin, and you can always hear your neighbors. Depending on the people in your vicinity, this could be a terrible experience. Our neighbors, in particular, were unbelievably loud. We had it all, from a verbally abusive couple on the side of us, to an all-hours-of-the-day techno enthusiast below us, to ignorant teenagers pumping massive amounts of ridiculous bass directly into our dining room at 8am. That was just our building, however. I cannot speak for the rest of the apartments. Although we were told upon move-in that we would get an updated apartment, the decor was straight out of the 70's from the wallpaper, all the way to the cabinets and bathtub. Our oven had spin dials for timers, and our dishwasher took two full cycles to completely clean the dishes. We asked for a new dishwasher, but it never happened. The apartments are overpriced. I was paying $980 a month for a 1 bedroom apartment on the third floor, and that was including an almost $50 monthly concession. When we left, the price of the apartment was going up over $1100. Again, this place is not worth the money. Lastly, be prepared to deal with many different cultures as this community is full of them. The dominant presence here is Brazilian. It is not uncommon to see Brazilian children obnoxiously playing outside from 10pm on, and be prepared to deal with many things that Americans might otherwise consider ridiculous under normal circumstances. It was always interesting to observe the community and its inhabitants. There were some positives to this place. The grounds are maintained very well, however, they start at about 7am on Wednesday right outside your window. The pool is nice, but there are always obnoxious people occupying it almost daily. The gym equipment is descent, but is out-dated and not well-maintained. The office staff is always friendly, but some of them aren't worth speaking to if you have a real issue. I highly recommend bypassing everyone and speaking with Vanessa. She was always a pleasure to deal with, and she is on top of her game. It's too bad that she's stuck working at this Royal Crest. The parking lots are plowed fast and decently in the winter by an outside contractor. Regardless of the season though, hardly anyone can park correctly. My car was hit a few times by an illegally parked white commercial van owned by the Brazilian guys on the first floor of my building. I complained several times, but nothing was ever done about it. Maintenance responds in a reasonable amount of time to your requests, but don't ask for anything like a new dishwasher because it won't happen. Overall, I do not recommend this place. It is expensive, your neighbors are unpredictable, and the cons far outweigh the pros for this apartment community. Consider looking farther out from the center of Marlborough.
