I recently moved out after spending two years at Shenandoah Crossing. Overall, the apartments were fine. The smarthub locks were nice and the maintenance guys are very kind. I did not renew my lease as the prices and fees kept increasing (which is not out of the norm for apartment complexes). However, after my move out, I found I was charged $280 to repaint the entire apartment (of which they said was prorated...lucky me) due to "damage". These are some of the photos they provided as documentation of damage "beyond normal wear and tear" (not all the photos they provided, because they all basically look like this). Apparently, according to their policy, they will charge you the full price of painting a unit rather than for spot painting scuff marks. Should've just taken a Magic Eraser to this, had I known. So if you choose to live here, don't have your knees touch the wall if you sit at the kitchen counter, don't regularly use the same outlet because the oils from your hand might leave a mark over time, and don't put furniture directly against the walls because if you accidentally bump into it and it leaves a scuff on the wall, they don't consider that normal every day use but rather negligence and misuse! Maybe it could have been avoided if I was there during the move out inspection, however I asked multiple times to schedule a time and it wasn't confirmed. Was that purposeful? Not sure. Honestly, I enjoyed my time living there for the most part and had the rent/fees not continued to increase as much as they did, maybe I would have renewed. But to be charged a "prorated" amount of $280 to fully repaint a one bedroom apartment for markings like these as a result of day to day use from living there for two years and to have them claim this as damage is crooked in my opinion. So just beware when you're moving out.
