Edited and updated review: I've tried very hard to be cordial and understanding to the issues with the management of this community. But after 8 months of living here and countless back-and-forths with management, I would NOT recommend living here. Management is unresponsive (although they always go out of their way to respond to google reviews - very interesting!) and uncooperative. Pros: Safe community, neighbors are generally quiet and respectful, dog friendly, lots of parking Cons: -Fitness center equipment always broken. I reported this more than 4 months ago and was told the gym is "being redone" under the new management, but NO changes have been made at all. It doesn't take months to replace equipment that is dangerous to use (weights not secured, treadmill speed increases but does not decrease) -Gate for restricted parking area is constantly broken and management leaves it fully open during the day so workmen (painters, electricians) can park there (there is AMPLE street parking and giant work vans prevent residents from parking in the spots that they paid for) - this means that your car + several building entrances are fully - and knowingly- left unsecured throughout the day. -CONSTANT loud & unneccesary maintenance of buildings - I have lived here for 8 months and there has not been ONE DAY where there have not been maintenance crews working on erroneous things (currently they are sawing down the paint on the stair railing outside the building - metal on metal- and they've been doing this for 6 hours a day for 2 weeks- just to...change the paint color of the railing? Absurd.) -Package room - NIGHTMARE! You will be told that having your packages accepted is an "amenity", but actually getting your package from the concierge is ridiculous - every.single. time. I have been told they "cannot find" my package or I need to "come back later" to get the package. Was told by management the last time they lost an expensive package and then were rude about it that they will soon be installing "package lockers" and "making things easier" - this was 5 months ago, no changes have been made at all. I have my packages sent to a friend - 45 minutes away - just to avoid their package room service - I refuse to lose more money and more packages just because Vaughn Place can't get it together. -Management inaccessible - if you call the community, you will rarely speak to someone actually in the community, you will be routed to their national call center and be told you will get a call back. IF you actually get in touch with someone from management, you will be gaslit: you will be asked "why this issue hasn't been reported before", you will be told "no one else has ever reported this issue", and you will be told that they need time to "follow up" - overall just really frustrating customer service from management. This part of the DC is absolutely beautiful, but Vaughn Place provides a truly terrible quality of life and resident experience. Move somewhere else.
