I've lived in the Vaughan Place since April 2014 and I have to say it has been very much a mixed bag. I manage apartments and commercial buildings for a private equity real estate company so I understand first hand that a complex of 575 apartment units will have its challenges here and there. My experience recently has been challenged. First off the positives: 1. Location, 2. Large apartments for the market, 3. Pool/Gym, 4. Cheap parking, 5. Cathedral Commons Now the challenges... the first level townhome apartments tend to have bug issues given their front and rear entrances. Management does what they can to bait the grounds but it only helps so much. We also had a serious rat issue (outside only) in September/October 2014 which was addressed by Management but resulted in dead rats on the common grounds. All multifamily buildings have this problem but given my unit's proximity to the dumpsters it was practically pronounced. The biggest issue with this complex is some units are individually owned condo's vs. rental apartments which means the Vaughan Place Property Management really cannot control the actions of these individuals. If you get stuck with a bad actor neighbor it can be a nightmare. Maintenance requests can also be very slow, for example it recently took 7+ days to have my dishwasher fixed - that is a LONG time for the Class A apartment industry. Most things are addressed quickly but sometimes things fall through the cracks.
