Hold Fast

The cons are steadily weighing heavier than the pros the longer I stay here. My main issue seems to be the same as many other reviewers and has been going on far longer than the current leasing company. Every two or three months the management has one reason or another to invade our privacy, often with 48 or even sometimes 24 hr notice and with a span of several days instead of giving a specific day, and even then they tend to not make the projected due date to enter the apartment thus making even more days that I need to lock our pet in a bedroom all day & night until I return home from work. This has not changed with the new management. The pool, hot tub and fitness room have been closed all spring and summer & still do not have a projected opening date even as the end of summer is almost here. Knowing that we are paying for these but not being able to use them for extended periods of time is frustrating. The multiple problems with the painting company hired to do the current paint job have been almost comical, but to be fair the staff are not the ones doing the paint job. The change to rent payments only being able to be done online is also a big deterrent to many renters, not just myself. Being forced to put sensitive financial information online to a company I'm not 100% comfortable with when that was not part of my initial rental contract is probably going to be the final straw that makes decide me not to renew my lease next year. I can hear everything my neighbors on each side do, even down to hearing their morning alarm clock. That is not even halfway decent sound insulation. I often have to shovel my own front walkway. They do not put always down ice-melt in dangerous areas or on the outside steps. update, Jan. 2017: For almost a year now they have had the pool out of service, and well over a year (2 maybe?) since the hot tub was working, after most of a year they finally opened the fitness area again recently after closing it for remodeling, there have been more than a few amenities promised that have not been available all last year. They are now increasing the rent to a price above what the value is in comparison to other properties in Boulder. With the bottom price of a 1 bedroom apartment starting at 1500 you can shop around town for a same size space in a newer building made of better materials and insulation, in both sound & temperature. Did I mention how poor the insulation to the outside is? The sliding glass doors & front door is so poorly insulated I feel the outside much more than I do at other apartments I've lived in. This is an old property with old buildings & the problems that go with old buildings, but being priced at a premium price comparable to much nicer properties in town. Do not be fooled by promises of wonderful amenities, they are consistently giving email updates as to why we can't use them yet. Perhaps one of the issues here is that the current property management purchased the property for $65 million, one of the the highest price per unit sale in Colorado & need to make up that investment asap. I am not renewing my lease because I have shopped around & in less than an hour I found other nearby properties for less in rent & nicer in quality.
