THIS PLACE IS AWFUL. STAY AWAY! If I could give this place a -10 stars I would. Maintenance people and other contractors would come into our apartment WITHOUT OUR AUTHORIZATION. This happened soooooo many times when we were in our apartment and who knows how many other times when we were not. We complained and complained and the leasing office kept apologizing and making promises that it would not happen again but it kept happening. They promised they "red tagged" the key but this apparently did not solve absolutely anything. It turns out that so many people have access to our apartment and when we ask the management, sometimes they have no idea who has been in our apartment. It is very unsafe because any contractor can basically make a copy of your key and go in when you are not there. Also, there is not enough parking. They built a 4 story parking garage but want to charge $60-$90 for a spot per car. This is ridiculous. The "free" parking is shared with visitors and many times there is no parking for us. Also, there is constant noise and construction going on... they finish one thing and start another. Construction workers were on our balcony, moving our stuff, took off our screen door and never put it back in. Don't let me forget the fact that the tenants before us had chipped the sink and we had to wait almost 4 months for a new one. Also, the heat/AC vents are soooo dusty and disgusting and when I called to get them cleaned they said that "that's how they are supposed to be". As a result our beautiful brand new furniture is always dusty no matter how much we clean and vacuum. I can go on and on and on. We are moving out in 3 days THANK GOD! I HATE THAT PLACE.

Increased rent from $1430 to $1650 in a one year span expect to pay $350-$500 more than your monthly rent for your total payment. About $1900-2150 per month for a 1 bedroom 730 square feet. If you work in Chicago past 630AM there will be a lot of traffic. Hard to get a hold of staff, we had our dishwasher flooded for 5 days stinking up the apartment before it was fixed. The ventilation of the building is horrible. Parking is not free $85 per month per vehicle. They tow their own residents vehicles very frequently Update: 8 months later called, texted, emailed, still have not received security deposit

THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO LIVE!!!!! If I could give this apartment a -5 stars, I would! The location is fantastic- right by the highway and near good restaurants and a dine-in movie theater. NOT WORTH IT TO LIVE HERE. The elevators are out weekly. It takes 5 minutes to get from the top floor to the first floor. The customer service is NON-EXISTENT. Regardless of how many times you call or email, the DO NOT RESPOND. Our water was turned off/freezing cold multiple times to the point where I couldn't shower there for 4 days. Yorktown quoted me for two regular parking spots, and decided not to charge me for 6 months, and then charge me 4x the regular price to make up for loss time. When it was time to move out, MAKE SURE you give them a 60 day notice. If you don't, you will be charged over $500 in fees. They did a great job remodeling, but DO NOT LIVE HERE.

I would not recommend this apartment for anyone. Management is difficult to get a hold of and unresponsive to resident concerns. Maintenance pretends to complete work orders and marks them as completed when they are not. When it comes to move out they charge excessive fees for "wear and tear" and it is impossible to get a hold of anyone to discuss these concerns with. I would not recommend living in this community.

I'm apartment hunting and figured with the proximity to my grad school along with all of the amenities, this place would be perfect. So I tried scheduling a virtual tour (what with COVID and all plus I'm currently in WI) -- it's been a nightmare. The staff member rescheduled several times and then I received an email from a different staff member saying she cannot do the tour (which is scheduled for tomorrow) because she's not on the property. Communication is severely lacking here. I've decided to look elsewhere.

I have been living in Yorktown for 3 years now. I have really enjoyed my stay overall. The apartments are really spacious and the amenities are great. Also the leasing staff (especially Rose and Carlos) are extremely helpful. However, I am seriously disturbed by the lack of concern by the management at Yorktown for residents who live here. We are paying a lot in terms that is comparable to rents paid in downtown Chicago, yet, the company continues to make renovations that is rather pointless. Last year, they face-lifted the entrance to make it look a bit modern. In that process, residents had to access side doors throughout the cold winter. They also got rid of an office corner that allowed residents to sometimes host a meeting in a private room since many of us work from home nowadays and may want to have a quite place outside of our apartments to make some phone calls (no residents were surveyed before these changes were made). Then they started changing our hallways... in the fall of 2016. We ended up re-signing our lease right before this started and got no warnings that we will have to deal with extreme noise levels (they used jackhammers to break apart tiles on the floor). This was kind of pointless because our hallways look like a prison cell now (dark with reduced lighting, gray walls, uncarpeted, with a bunch of random pictures hanging). We were accomodative still. We recently had a newborn in December. Suddenly, another set of renovations have started this month. This time I am seriously annoyed with the lack of concern for residents. The noise level is unbearable. I have a dog and a newborn and both have trouble sleeping or resting through the day. If I work from home, I have to go outside of the building to take a phone call. This is apparently due to renovation in empty apartments. We have asked the manager about this and all she has come up with as a solution is to move to another apartment. Why would we want to move with a newborn in the middle of our lease? And if so we should be able to move out of Yorktown without any penalties! The only solution I can see is that Aimco compensate us for the inconvenience caused by renovations. They should seriously consider re-compensating by discounting our rent since we were not told that further renovations would take place when we resigned in the fall. Also, if you are planning to live here... DONT!!! Although the staff is great, the continual renovations, the lack of concern for residents by the management will just aggravate you and make your stay unbearable (especially on weekdays).

I will preface this review by saying that the current maintenance staff and most of the current immediate leasing staff are nice people. I think these folks are doing the best job they can with the cards AIMCO has dealt them. Let me be clear, you do not want to live here. I stayed at Yorktown Apartments from February of 2016 to May of 2018. Because the previous on-site leasing management staff directed that all units be renovated within the time frame of a few years, many residents, including myself, were booted from their unit. Many of us were told we had to leave before our lease was up. I was one of very few, fortunate individuals, who was offered a comparable unit at a comparable price, when booted. Some folks who were told they had to leave with the notice of 60 days were residents of the high rise building for more than 10 years. Additionally, because of the renovations, the construction in the building was non-stop. I was told, point blank, when I was signing my lease, that construction was done. To put it another way, I was lied to by the previous leasing staff. It was next to impossible to sleep beyond 7am or take a nap because of the relentless construction. If someone tells you the construction is done, refer them to this review, where a previous resident can assure you that he was lied to about construction being finished when he moved in. The building, is admittedly, falling apart from the inside out. The pipe under my sink leaked a tremendous amount in both units I lived in. The water from my kitchen sink tasted like it was hooked up directly to a fish tank (I got my drinking water from the bathroom sink). The elevators frequently were broken. There were at least a total of six days in the time I lived there that ALL THREE elevators were broken. Before you sign a lease for a 16th floor apartment, think if you, or your elderly relatives, or your young children, want to make that trek. I was told when I moved in that the telecom at the parking garage was going to be fixed. It never was. There were at least 90 days where I couldn't even re-load the card for the laundry service in my own building. The washers are not well maintained and there is mold build-up in all of them. The leasing staff accidentally gave my parking spot to someone else at one point. Also, I had $125 taken out of my $500 deposit for cleaning costs, even though I left my apartment in great condition, save for the streak marks left on the walls from condensation due to a poor ventilation system and grease marks left on the walls by construction crews that needed access to my unit for a air conditioning unit replacement that took an entire week. Also, please take into account, that Yorktown Mall is allowing the building of new condos right down the street. I can tell you from personal experience that that construction also hindered my ability to get to and from Yorktown Apartments. I have to say that the current leasing staff was helpful in extending my lease for a short amount of time when the closing on my house was pushed back. Having said that, upper management of AIMCO is doing a really poor job with this property, which is marketed as a "luxury apartment complex." I am telling any potential future-resident, you DO NOT want to live here. DO NOT fall for a lie to get your name on that lease. Also, I do not want a half-hearted apology from AIMCO following up this review. I want a cut of my money back for the perpetual inconvenience it was living in what was supposed to be my own home. I can't imagine, if you really wanted to make this better, it would take much for you to do that - but you won't, because you already have my money. Follow up: Notice the response to my review by AIMCO, that these are necessary improvements. What that really means is, if you live here, you will be inconvenienced by endless construction.

I love the area however hate the building I live in after moving from the city to the suburbs ... it's a shame I pay over 2000 a month for sub par apartment. Not to mention that the management is slow to address issues such as a simple repair of the door to the main entrance to the building #6 it seems that the main tower gets all the attention and the other buildings on the property get neglected. Sure the amenities of the main building are nice however what about the others that pay monthly to live there? Address the issues of the others !! So sick of having to walk around to get out since I can't exit through the main entrance of the side where my car is usually parked .. definitely will not be renewing my lease...

This place is just overall pretty terrible. There's a bug infestation in this building and they refuse to acknowledge it. The elevators are slow/consistently broken. Rude management. They love towing your car even though there's no tow away zone sign anywhere near the front of the building. And now they are doing demolition/construction right outside our window. Live somewhere else. This place single-handedly made me never want to live in an apartment ever again.

I would avoid this place if possible. They are very misleading with hidden fees that pop out of nowhere. This company will send you ton of notices and reminders that you're lease is going to expire. They have policy that if you don't give them a notice of up to 60 days that you are not going to renew your lease you will have to pay a fine. Since I gave only 52 day notice they fined me 350 bucks. To be fair the lease did mention this in very vague language, and since it was on the lease I paid the fee. However, before I paid the fee I told them that it would have been nice if all the reminders included to please respond within xx days in order to avoid paying a fee. I thought I was the only one who had this happen to them; however, as I was moving out at the end of the month every single person that I saw moving out at the same time had the same complaint. Another requirement before you leave is that you have the carpet professionally cleaned and be able to provide them with a receipt as proof. It's not enough that you return the apartment with a clean undamaged carpet but must have it professionally cleaned or they will charge you $150.00. To be fair we had a nice 1 bedroom apartment for a reasonable price; however, I know they recently increased the rent since I left. I personally would not rent an apartment with them nor would I recommend them to a friend. Also, they don't charge much for deposit, but don't expect to get it back.

Unfortunately this site does not allow for my full review (character minimum) but you can read the Yorktown Apartment review in its entirety on another rating website. It is definitely a must read if you are apartment hunting in the area! But I will say this... The rents are very expensive for this complex and in my opinion you do not get your monies' worth. It's been my experience that good customer service and follow-thru is severely lacking with the leasing/management staff, including the two levels of upper management that oversee this property. I feel strongly that Yorktown Apartments simply does not care about their tenants and does nothing to inspire tenant loyalty. I moved here with the solid expectation that, per our lease agreement, Yorktown Apartments would provide a safe, clean and quality home environment. Didn't happen. Living here has been nothing but a continuous string of issues, inconveniences and mismanagement. Having been a renter all my life, by far, Yorktown Apartments has been the worst place I have ever lived and I do not recommend this property to anyone.

This review may be long in length but it's a must read! I am a former tenant who recently (May 2017), broke a year's lease 7 1/2 months into it. There is so much more I could write about in this review but I will stick to what I consider the most "serious" issues associated with living here. Construction! They are not forthcoming on the length, depth, or inconvenience that the on-going renovation project will cause you. Construction takes place Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and will continue for the next year and half (maybe longer). This means that you hear everything that is going on and there is hardly ever a day where it's quiet during the week. The sound of construction is ear splitting and reverberates throughout the building so loudly that I could hear what they were doing on the 6th floor and I lived on the 3rd. And for an added bonus, as if the hammering, sawing and demolishing noises weren't enough, they are also grinding the cement floors in the units they are renovating (amplify the noise of a dentist drill 100 times and you get the idea). If you like to live in a peaceful and quiet environment then this is not the place for you. This was my first time with cement floors and I do not recommend them (the units will not have carpet). The floors are cold, full of static; attract dust, are very slippery, and dangerous to small children and pets. Also be prepared because what they don't tell you up front is that you'll be spending another $500-$1,000 for rugs after you move in. With the construction comes water shut offs. Not once in a while, but almost weekly, especially in the last few months. One full day a week that means no showering, toilet, cleaning or cooking. Just so you are not totally inconvenienced by this you can walk across the driveway (don't forget your toiletries) so you can take a shower and use the toilet in the pool locker room located in the parking garage structure. The construction dust poses a serious air quality issue and it caused problems for me. I had bad headaches for months and on-going sinus issues that all stopped abruptly when I moved out. The dust in the apartment was so bad they installed filters behind all my vents to try and help alleviate the issue. It seeps into everything (clothes, pillows, couches) and you can actually taste it at times. All the air you breathe in the building is compromised with this dust (lobby, elevators, hallways and apartment). The complex had a serious mice infestation for the first three months I lived here. The infestation was in numerous apartments (including the unit across the hall), and on two other floors. My newly "renovated" apartment literally fell apart. The construction was beyond shoddy and I had nothing but on-going problems during my lease (construction, appliance, plumbing, paint, heating/air, electrical, etc.). Between the apartment problems and issues with the upkeep of the building I put in 49 documented service requests and at least 25+ verbal ones to the leasing staff (continuous garbage back-up, laundry facilities, elevators, animal/pet violations, grounds maintenance, garage issues, recycling issues, noise and lease policy violations, etc.). Things might get fixed but it can take days, weeks, months, and some times not at all. A few other things you should know: the fee to park your car is separate from the monthly rent and you don't have any other option. If you like to grill then find someplace else to live, as they don't allow them on the balconies here. A shared drain by all 15 floors means food gets clogged repeatedly and there is a loud gurgling and a bad odor frequently emitting from the kitchen sink. There is no separate heating/air conditioning unit for each apartment so you are at the mercy of the building. The elevators are broken almost weekly. The guest entrance in the garage has been broken for over a year (no parking elsewhere) so be prepared to bundle up and walk across the driveway to open the gate manually each time you have visitors. I could go on and on but I'm just scratching the surface; to detail my entire experience here would force me to write a novel. The rents are very expensive for this complex and in my opinion you do not get your monies' worth. I moved here with the solid expectation that, per my lease agreement, Yorktown Apartments would provide a safe, clean and quality home environment. Didn't happen. Living here has been nothing but a continuous string of issues, inconveniences and mismanagement. Having been a renter all my life, by far, Yorktown Apartments has been the worst place I have ever lived and I do not recommend this property to anyone.

I have been a resident at Yorktown Apartments for 3 years now. The first 2 years were fine and that is why I continued to live at Yorktown Apartments. Any positive experience I had within the first 2 years has been completely erased by my 3rd year living here. I have quickly regretted the decision to live here for a 3rd year and can relate to one of the previous reviews on here from Shyvonne Walker . I live in building 5 on the first floor which happens to be right next to the main entrance of the building. Before summer they slowly started renovating the main entrance that happens to be next to my room. This construction has been going on all summer and recently just finished the main entrance a couple of weeks ago. I understand that they are going to try and make some improvements but they could have informed me that they had plans of doing construction right next to my room before I resigned the lease for a 3rd term. Instead they decide to increase the rent by 70-80 dollars per month when I signed the 3rd lease as the typically do. My question to them is how do you expect to raise the rent knowing that this person would have no peace or quietness of living in what I'm supposed to call my "Home"? I understand that some people go to work and that the noise is no big deal because they are not around but I recently had my fiance move in with me from another country. She stays home all day and has to listen to the consistent banging and hammering. Not to mention the whole summer they had a fence about 2 yards from my screen door blocking any view that I would have had out of my living room. Just when I thought this construction was going to finally end and have peace around my place they recently started renovating the room on the other side of me( opposite side of the main entrance) and the room above me. I found out that they actually needed the room beside me to renovate so they paid my neighbor Adam Carl to move out so they could have the room to renovate. What really makes me upset about this is that they care enough to pay someone to move them out when THEY need something but don't care about the inconvenience of a current tenant that has been there for 3 years . They could have easily gave us that option or an option but instead decided that living next to consistent noise is our problem and not theirs to deal with. This is after I have already called once into the office and have replied to an email that is send out asking for feedback. Yorktown tends to pride themselves on providing superior customer service and they say its important to them but it's a joke. The customers/tenants were never taking into consideration during this process of doing construction. If they really cared they would have would have disclosed their plans of doing this overhaul and not have jacked up the rent for my 3rd lease. If they really cared about customer service then a manager would have addressed me when I sent them an email. The only response I got was this from Katie Snyder (Resident Relations Specialist saying thank you for the feedback and a manager will address your concerns into more detail. I never heard from anyone after listing feedback for both positive and negative things about Yorktown Apartments. Again, at this point those positives are out the door to me. Here are a couple other negatives besides the biggest one being the construction. I usually don't take the time to write feedback but I feel it is very important for others to know that they will be completely ignored when they express feedback/issues. If they continue to do any other renovating you can be assured that they won't care how much it might interrupt you're living at "Home". I would not wish anyone to have this same type of experience. If this is how they are going to treat someone that has lived there for 3 years that pays on time and causes no problems I can't expect them to care about the loyalty of any new future tenants. I really hope Yorktown will start taking the feedback from their tenants seriously instead of pretending to care.

I would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone. Management is unresponsive to tenant concerns. Maintenance pretends to complete work orders and just marks them as complete. There is constant garbage in the courtyard. Side doors in the low rise are always unlocked so anyone can enter the building. Be careful with moving out, because they charge tenants to fully repaint an apartment for "normal wear and tear damages". Again, I would not recommend and would look elsewhere.

On our first weekend of living in this apartment complex, I noticed our A/C wasn't working. A maintenance team member came down and did a temporary fix, but told us that they needed to replace the whole unit. That didn't happen until several more service requests were put in, each one making the same temporary fix that never held. A year and three months later, they finally replaced the heat/AC but it still didn't work without an additional repair that was made a month after that. That lasted almost two months and now the heat went out again. We definitely got the lemon on the used car lot of apartments. Not to mention that when we renewed at a higher rate, we were not informed of the incredibly inconvenient construction that would start soon after. This construction limited us to one entrance, left our apartment floor covered with dust near the entrance from the construction (like thick layers of white dust), and put our mailboxes outside during the coldest part of the year in a location nowhere near an entrance to the building. The unit I live in is poorly insulated, it's still cold even when the heater is working properly. They charge $80 for the parking garage, then when it gets icy and snowy, they don't clean it, so who knows what that money is going towards. I slipped already this winter on a patch of ice and hurt my wrist. Especially during the construction period, it felt like we were not wanted there despite the high rent we pay, like we were in the way of renovations. If I happened to have a day off, sleeping in wasn't an option because of construction noises. If I needed to do laundry during the day, I was either blocked by construction guys on a ladder in the hallway or half of the machines weren't working. I could not in good conscience recommend this place to anybody I care about. At least there's no roaches I guess? The maintenance team is good, they're just held back by management trying to make the cheapest repair possible instead of actually fixing the problem once and for all. One last thing, the website claims views of the Chicago skyline. This is 100% false. You cannot see any part of Chicago from any point of this property without a telescope or the best binoculars of all time.

do not move here. This place is absolutely disgusting. We have been living with roaches for six months and they just seem to keep getting bigger and bigger. Mind you we don't even cook. leave food out or dishes in the sink! the sent pest control twice management nor pest control ever came back to check up. The elevators take forever. You can expect a five minute wait to get on the elevator. The people that live here have no common decency to pick up after their own dog shit, so you and your pet are constantly walking in dog shit. The people that live here also let their dogs piss and shit in the main entrance. so you are always welcomed home with a nice big wiff of dog piss. when we moved into this unit, there were multiple things that were broken from the previous tenant, and when we asked for them to be fixed, we got attitude. so we fixed what we could ourself. I've had packages go missing. and there's cameras but supposedly they don't work? we are also not on the call system for the front door to let ppl in. I've asked multiple times to be added. very disappointed and definitely not renewing

DO NOT LIVE HERE. This place has horrible expectations and demands on the residents. They have sent out 2 LAST MINUTE emails notifying the residents of a full day water shut down, during which you cannot even get drinking water in the entire building. While the staff have been very nice and offer to bring up bottles of water if you call them ans complain, shutting off drinking water to a family with an infant as my own without any notification is inhumane. I received the notification for today's water shut down beginning at 11:30 am, at 11:25 am. 5 minutes. That's all the warning I received. No time to prepare by filling up water in bottles for the day. This the second time this has happened in one month. The management expects the residents who are paying expensive rents to accommodate for the construction and these water shut down, but the truth is that a last minute water shut is a HEALTH HAZARD, and they really have NO SOLUTION when you approach the management. Go find another apartment complex. Do not live here.

Well, I cannot say I am happy as a resident. My first year at Yorktown Apartments was not very good and the second is even worse. I thought it was a beautiful property with great amenities. I chose it because of the convenient features of the ability to buzz someone into the parking garage and the building from my phone and the gym and mail right in the building not to mention it was a nice, peaceful community. I LOVED those features! Well shortly after I moved in, I had none of these features. Construction started and the peace was gone. I had to go outside all winter to get my mail and go to the gym and the buzzers did not work in the building or garage. I wondered why I was living here. But I thought finally the construction was done and the new gym and new look was nice (not nice enough for my inconvenience though) and so it was over and I'll give it another try and renewed my lease. Well now, this new construction is even more disruptive than the first. It's been going on forever it seems! It starts early in the morning and goes all day. It's noisy (drilling, banging) and I have no peace in the apartment I pay for. Because I suffer from MS, I work from home 2 days per week. I have not been able to do that because I can't hold my calls with the noise levels. I go in the halls to tarps I trip over, to the trash chute where there are paint cans and other work supplies so I can't even get to the chute and too my storage closet that I can't get to because of their work supplies. I feel like I pay for a place I can't live! I've been having to leave out on those days I work from home and go elsewhere to work defeating the purpose for those days (to have shorten days and be able to rest). Now I have to leave my apartment 3 days so they can do windows and patio doors and 1 of those days I can't even be in the apartment I pay for. Thank God my son is home because I have to move all my furniture for them to do the work. With my MS, I am not able to do that alone! The poor older people on my floor must be having a really hard time. We weren't offered credits, options to move, help, anything. However, when my guess made some inconvenience I was required to pay a fine right away. I did even search my lease to see if there was any way out of it because I just am unable to bear this!! I wish I could move! Providing superior customer service is important they say? I don't believe the customer was considered in this at all. The staff is polite but your processes are horrible. It was evident individual customers weren't considered when I receive a $135 charge for being 1 day late on rent when I had NEVER been late after 1+ years living there. I tried to pay that day when I got the email and saw the charge but the office was closed. So I called the manager the next morning who did waive only $55 of the $135 but then I got home and had a 5 day eviction notice on my door! I couldn't believe it! Really? On the 2nd day for a CUSTOMER who has been faithful and never late in 1+ years. I didn't get a courtesy call but just walking up to my door with a friend being embarrassed with an eviction notice on my door! That's providing superior customer service huh? Needless to say I am not happy with my home at Yorktown Apartments even after trying to give it another chance. They will not get a favorable rating from me. By the way, after asking every month for a year about when the garage buzzer would be working, I gave up and to date it's still not working. I moved in Jan 2015 and it's almost Jan 2017! Nothing will probably be done about this but it should said. I haven't said it to the safe as I figure "what for" but you asked for my feedback. Well here it is.

I was in the the apartment for a year . Management is worst i have ever seen in my life and also They have not reimburse my 500 Deposit. Even though i have cleaned the apartment so well. I would recommend you all not to get that Yorktown Apartment. They are cheaters.

Let me start by saying I liked my apartment & the view was amazing but it's very old & needs updating in bathroom & kitchen. Cleaning staff & maintenance was good. The back door was always open or unlocked so anyone could get in the building. Front door would be broken for weeks. My name was not added to the list so I had to come downstairs to Open the door. Non tenants would walk in & wash clothes late at night through the back door. This is a non smoking building but that's not the case. As soon as I moved in my neighborhood was smoking weed in his bathroom which went through my bathroom so I had headaches all the time. I'd get home in the afternoon & as soon as I stepped off the elevator the whole floor smelled like weed. That person moved out & we were good for a month until the next person who moved in was playing loud music, fighting with his girl & hitting her as we heard her screaming at all hours in the apt & in the hallway. Then he put surrounds in the bedroom which we shared a wall with so we barely got any sleep. We slept on our sofa most of the time. I complained to property manager Stephanie & at first (Dec 2022) she seemed helpful but then stopped responded to my portal request & emails. When you call they don't pick up & she's not in the office during office hours. Cops were called at least 5-6 times & nothing was happening. We eventually had words with the tenant he pretended as if he had done nothing wrong. Cops came & stated he was unaware of any issues which was a lie. He disclosed he had a gun & the cops warned him for saying that. The next morning at 8am his girlfriend was at his door fighting to get in. I ran into him in the hall & he gave me the look of death. I tried to exit my lease early due to not feeling safe but they don't care. We moved out in 4 days later after that incident (March 2023). All they wanted was the money. I heard crazy stories from other tenants & they too felt stuck. $1950 for an outdated 1 bedroom was not worth it after all the crap we had to endure. We left 6 weeks early & still paid the rent. Then I'm told by leasing agent Nate I'll get hit with cleaning fee & previous months utilities but no that was not the case. From $500 deposit I was getting back $63 which I have yet to receive per Stephanie. They run your credit but don't verify your actual income such as bank account info. So they let anyone live there which some are drug dealers or just ghetto. It's not as upscale as they portray. The staff is not there Sat nights, Sun or Mon so people do what ever they want. They need security onsite. I hope the property management company looks a little closer at what's going on here & visits more often. After 4 months of living in hell I finally have peace. No one should feel held hostage over a lease if the building is NOT doing their part by maintaining a safe & positive community per their own lease.

Each member of the staff says something completely different when answering your questions. Many of the staff members are rude. The construction was vert disruptive and they offered no apologies for the inconveniences. Also very overpriced and you can find a much better apartment in the area.

Do not live here! I have known multiple people who have chosen to live here and the place and their people are awful. Elevators constantly broken, obscene charge amounts for holding packages, "hardwood floors" that are just vinyl over cement and NO leniency on move out dates. To summarize, if you need to leave a lease early and are not a domestic abuse victim or military personnel, it will cost you 5 MONTHS RENT TO LEAVE! That's 60 days notice and three months additional rent after you leave. Lost your job, need to move for work, doesn't matter, you're stuck there with their ridiculous rent costs. You'll see George's comments below and can note he wont argue any of this. In fact, I see he went back and changed his comments about offering flexibility on this after less than 24 hours. And if they were being honest, the only reason they allow the two they do is bc they are required to by law. After one look at the contract, I turned and ran. And the pictures on the sites? Not at all what is available. If you want those models, you'll pay at least 50% more than the "starts at" price and what's more, no monthly cost controls all the noise. It's like they didnt even bother to put in insulation bc you will hear EVERYTHING except your neighbors breathing (unless they're a snorer, you'll hear that too). And for what, to be next to a mall? Not at all worth the expenses they charge.

I truly thought I would enjoy living at this property when I visited it and even after I moved in. The longer I was there the less appealing it became. They do not accept check/cash payments, it must be electronic which is fine, but when their system refused our bank's payment (twice) they hounded us with late fees and it took us a month to get it straightened out only for it to happen again. We finally get our payments straightened out and it wasn't too bad until the lease renewals came. They raised our rent prices (which we expected) but doubled our parking costs which raised our rate to more than I currently pay in Chicago now. They also send you umpteen million lease renewal requests but conveniently leave out the fact that you have to give notice at least 60 days (which seems a bit much to me) or you will get bombarded with fees of up to $400 (which is your entire deposit after cleaning charges). Yes this is a stipulation in our lease, however I consider it bad business when a detail like that is left unmentioned. This upset me the most because before closing out our account we spoke with someone in the office regarding cleaning fees and all that jazz and he never once mentioned that our account had been flagged with a $350 fee. On top of the outrageous fee (mind you we gave 54 days notice) we were also charged over $100 dollars in gas charges (for April) and another $15-20 in "closing fees". Are the apartments nice, yes. The area is nice as well. The leasing office and company in general are incredibly deceiving and nickel and dime you every chance they get for a glorified "high rise" in Lombard. I lived in many apartments throughout college and afterwards and I can say without a doubt this has been my most disappointing experience from a professional business.

All i can say is you can do much better. Lets start at number 1, When i went in to sign the paperwork after all the info they gave me about the building not once did they ever mention that this was a smoke free building. Well guess what... i am a smoker. 2 weeks later i was smoking outside and i got a tap on my shoulder and said well this is a non smoking property ! I said WHAT??? yes and i told him I had no idea and he said well we have a little notice by the door. Well i think this is something you should tell EVERYONE before you let anyone sign a lease. After talking to many others the same thing happened to them as well. This was a huge deal going forward.. HUGE. OVER PRICED- They try to have a image that is all fake. they do all this work around the building but nothing is done to the units. its just to help rent more units. they had the building under major construction for over a year and it was horrible to live through. I was sick most of the time because of the dust and guess what, they thanked all there renters with a $200 rent hike! $80 PARK??- thats right you have to pay to park in your new over priced apartment! they dont mention it during the 1st walk through but when your ready to sign the lease they slide it in there that now your rent is a tad big more money. High School Rules- The rules they have are like being back in high school. Sorry if i am paying 2k a month for a apartment in LOMBARD I should not be treated like a child. All they do is tell you everything you can't do and it was really like being in school. Do you like AC??? Well if you do don't move here. This was the worst issue for me other then the no smoking rule. This building is run of a 1 pipe chiller. Which means you can not have the AC and heat on at the same time. So when building management feels like winter is over with which is around last week in May if your lucky they will turn the AC for the building well even if you have days in the 70s its staying off. It got so hot i had to go buy a AC for my apartment which still didn't cool it down. here is the best part, even with the ac on... you will never get the apartment cool. it doesn't matter if you want your ac on 70 or 68 everyone gets the same temp in the building and its gonna fall around d74 to 75 and guess what.. because its a chiller its also humid AC. Its HORRIBLE !!!!! I can go on and on, just stay away. just take a look at how they spent all this money on the new look they have now. Its butt ugly. There is a great place right across the street check it out its less money and 10 times better apartment.

**Edit, June 2019*** This place has gone quickly, and terribly, down the drain. The new manager doesn't respond to simple emails. Dogs run around unleashed all summer without the current manager so much as asking the owners to stop (it's both illegal and dangerous). Something aesthetic is under construction 100% of the time while basic repairs are ignored (e.g. the doors to the complex locks break at least monthly and remain that way for months). At least 1 of the 3 elevators is out of order 95% of the time. 2 out of 3 are down about 50%. We've even had all 3 down for weeks at a time. Not sure how anyone elderly or handicapped on the 16th floor survive. You pay monthly for an electronic locker system that doesn't work so, at any given time, 30+ packages are strewn about the hallway floor for anyone to take. While rent increased about 15% this year the quality has been cut in 1/2. We loved this place (see my original post below left for reference) and planned to stay for years. Definitely not anymore. ORIGINAL REVIEW (Left this, unedited, for reference/contrast) My wife and I couldn't be happier here. The amenities are top notch (rooftop pool is to die for). The clubhouse and even lobby are so nice I've held meetings with clients in them. Most importantly the staff is exceptional. From Ryan the manager to Stacey to Shawn in maintenance...everyone has been helpful, professional and accommodating. Great place to live!

See Yelp for the full review . Our 1st apt was a 2bed, 2bath. We didn't want to pay a $120 cleaning fee so we cleaned the apt by ourselves. We left it in such a clean, pristine condition to avoid any hiccup in extra charges. My husband literally sweat trying to make the apt spotless. A couple days after moving in to our new apt down the hall, we were charged the cleaning fee. After sorting it out with Ryan, we were refunded. For our 2nd apt, we chose to pay the $120 cleaning fee since we wanted to save ourselves the headache of leaving the apt in a clean condition. We were a bit worried since I taped something to the wall and while taking it out, I accidentally ripped some of the paint off. After PRE-moveout inspection, we spoke to the maintenance guy who said that the ripped paint was not an issue and not to worry about it since they patch up the walls and repaint anyway. A couple days before move out, we went down to the leasing office to ask them how much cleaning we need to do on our part since we are paying the cleaning fee. The lady down there said 'Nothing. You don't have to clean anything, just pick up any trash and take your belongings.' The reason we asked was because we wanted to keep our $500 deposit since money is tight and if it's some cleaning we have to do to avoid charges, we can easily do it. We received our final statement and not only did they overcharge us for cleaning, they charged us for wall damages! My husband and I were very very upset and outraged. Why are we being charged $95 more for cleaning!? And why are we being charged $90 for wall damages when maintenance told us it wouldn't be a problem and not to worry?! We are currently trying to get this resolved but no one is helping or listening to us! The Yorktown leasing office isn't even trying to resolve this and neither is the upper management at the corporate level! This goes to show you how much they actually care about their residents! Right now, in an attempt to explain the cleaning charges, they told us it is because we did not clean oil off the kitchen cabinet and we did not clean the bathtub/toilet. Umm, that's why I elected to pay a $120 cleaning fee! And not to mention, we asked the leasing office how much we need to clean before move out and we were told 'nothing.' So how do you justify the outrageous cleaning fee being charged to us?! For the wall damages, we asked if the paint being ripped off would be a problem and they said no. My husband was going to patch it himself. It turns out, they sent us a picture of the wall being damaged so much, there's literally a big crack in the pic! We were so upset at seeing this because we did NOT do this! I promise you, we did not do this! How did it get there!?! The wall picture they sent us doesn't even look like our apt, this is ridiculous! So we are being charged extra cleaning fees, and wall damages that we didn't damage! Someone please PLEASE explain this! We are trying to save every penny and asked beforehand what we would be responsible for and they told us nothing. The people here at Yorktown, including upper management, are not considerate. We lived here quietly for 2 years, never making a noise, always abiding by their rules and this is how they repay us. I am very very disappointed and regret that I did not take pictures or a video of the apt before leaving. Unfortunately I wasn't able to be there for move out inspection since I moved to Chicago city and coming out to Lombard on a Monday morning was tough. Since I wasn't there for the move out inspection they are saying I am out of luck and cannot do anything about these ridiculous charges. I pray to God, that someone will resolve this problem for us and we get our money back. I promise to God, we did NOT damage the walls like that and we would have cleaned IF someone told us we need to do a little cleaning when we asked them 3 days before we moved out. People, PLEASE PLEASE do NOT live here! You're better off going somewhere else to live. I will never recommend Yorktown to any current or future students, or to anyone I know!

HUGE UPDATE!!! 6/15/24 WHAT EVER YOU DO DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE! ESPECIALLY FROM NATE! He is a huge con artist! I've live here for about 4 years do to unfortunate circumstances... and I've had nothing but problems and BROKEN PROMISES from NATE. Each time I renewed my lease he promised me a unit (that either was a side unit or a u it above the 10th floor. EACH AND EVERY TIME i went to go move, days before he tells me he messed up and rented it out to someone already.... Like are you stupid or high?! How do you double rent a unit?! This isn't a restaurant... this is someone's living situation. SO NATE YOURE A JOKE! And he's always high with blood shot eyes! On 5/20 I had to renew my lease here again so once again to costly/other living situations I couldn't not afford to relocate. So Nate had me sign a 2 year lease on 5/20/24. The current unit I was living in was under my exs name. We broke up and he WAS ALLOWED to keep coming in and out of my unit because his name was on the lease kept coming to the unit when I was not home and stealing thousands and thousands of dollars worth of clothes, purses, jewelry.... NATE SAID I CANT DO ANYTHING HES ON THE LEASE AND LOOKED AT ME AND SAID OH WELL!!!!!! NOT TO MENTION WHWN MY EX "BROKE INTO" the unit he caused so much damaged to the unit. I told Nate this... he had nothing to say besides the fact that my ex will be responsible for the damage. NOT TO MENTION HE TOLD MY EX THAT I RENEWED A LEASE IN THE SAME BUILDING WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW!!!! NEXT!!! A few days later.... On 6/7 I moved into my new unit under my own name.... I had everything all set up and organized and livable, at about 10pm my unit starts flooding about 3inches of water from the front door all the way to the living room, all the way into the bedroom.... I had called the emergency number no one ever answered so then I decided to call Nate since me and him had a decent relationship as him being my landlord. I called him about 10 times no answer he finally answer and I was highly upset as you could imagine.... But I did not curse him out or anything. all I demanded was to get someone here ASAP! Before my expensive furniture didn't get ruined. Maintenance sat outside of my unit for about an hour before they came in and performed work to get the water out. As this was going on since Nate TOLD MY EX where I lived my ex had also popped up to my new apartment causing problems!!!! THIS IS BY FARE THE WORST PLACE TO LIVE! few days later I get served with an eviction notice... saying I have ten days to leave... Also a few days after signing my lease, NATE had called me on my cell phone FROM HIS PERSONAL CELL and had asked me to go on Google and take down my previous REVIEW that I left Years ago because he lost a sale!!! That is BEYOND ILLEGAL!!!! My lawyer will be reaching out FYI I also found out they lease to people with murder charges.... Section 8 lives here and it tells!!!! There's police here every other day! Also there is LITER LITERALLY EVERYWHERE!!! People also like the walk their dogs off the leash!!! This place is absolutely disgusting. I've lived here for three years and everyday it's something new. There's always dog piss in the elevators! And I just moved into a new unit as of last October 2022, and we have had roaches of all sizes and pest control come out three times and yet we still have roaches!!! the leasing office just tells us oh well, then send pest control and nothing else not a follow up NOTHING! they don't try to even compensate for anything! I been living like this for 6 months and I pay $3k a month?! This is not right!!!! The elevators in this apartment building take absolutely forever. You can expect a five minute wait to get on the elevator. People who live here do not have any common sense or common decency, and let their animals pee and poo on the front door way where you walk in, the office was notified of this many of times, and this is still an ongoing situation. every time you walk in the building you're either stepping in dog pee or dog poo. I lived 12 months in this place, i had a great time, it is most of the time very clean. I had few issues with my fridge/plumbing and maintenance came very quickly. What disappoint me a lot on this place is the commercial aspect. The sale representative doesn't show any respect, chewing his gum with his mouth wide open in front of you when he speaks to you. As the studio i wanted to have wasn't available when i did the visit, he showed me a brand new renovated apartment, and claimed mine will be the same. I had to deposit 500$ and when i got the key, the apartment they gave me was 20 years older. As i was moving in in August, i asked him when the pool was closing and he told me end of September as it was closing on September 5. They also forced me to subscribe for their locker system for package, they will share your email adress and phone number WITHOUT YOUR APPROVAL and block your packages if you don't pay the subscription. And they say they can't unlock the lockers if you want to get the package, you need to see with the company owning the lockers but these people are administrators and can help you. Watch out with these sale people, they are not honest and i don't understand why direction is keeping them.

Do not recommend this place - Lived here for over a year now- regretting decision to stay for another year because of covid. People that work in the office are extremely rude and not helpful - my so called "premium" apartment doesn't have a fan in the bathroom - no garbage disposal in the kitchen - they don't have recycling - very bad ventilation system - Neighbors smoke weed and cigarettes indoors - all that smell travels to your apartment, as well as other smells like cooking. Also woman's locker has two showers yet one of them has no water and no shower head - the second one works yet no warm- hot or even luke warm water available - just freezing cold. If you ever late one day with your payment ( or in my case an hour ) even once they charge you a lot for late payment and won't even consider helping you even if you are sick with cancer ( in my case ) they didn't help with that late fee even though I was in the hospital !!! - no curtesy email Or a phone call nor text message to remind you that you are one day late on the payment !! - also simple parking lot outside is also not free ! You have to pay for parking outside !!! In the suburbs ! This place is terrible - keep in mind only heat or ac is on, so there will be a month in between seasons where you will be hot with no ac or cold without the heat - stay away from this apartment- Maintenance and cleaning staff are very nice and friendly they deserve five star credit.

My son hasn't even seen the apartment he's moving in yet, but they're already telling him that he has to pay prorated rent and his regular rent is due on August 1st.I wonder do they not know it's illegal to force someone to move in on a prorated rent.

"I had a very frustrating experience living in this community. Despite promises from Nate in Sales that the apartment had no issues, we quickly realized that there were significant problems with our apartment during the winter months. The windows and balcony were leaking, causing the apartment to be freezing cold and resulting in high heating bills. We also had issues with our furnace making a loud noise 24/7. As a result, we had to limit our 1-year-old daughter's exploration of the apartment to a small, warm section to avoid her getting sick. We contacted Stephanie in management for help, but she was unresponsive and unhelpful. She refused to terminate our lease or provide our security deposit back and instead offered to move us to another apartment in the community, which was more expensive and still had similar issues. Overall, I would not recommend living in this community due to the poor quality of the apartments and lack of support from the management

Moved Out from Yorktown Apartments 29th July 2024. Was waiting for deposit refund for more than 3 weeks, my deposit was 3300$, after all latest fees and charges deposit now is only 2650$. 3 weeks no information from anybody, every week texted me that i need more documents to return my deposit. And after 3weeks, i filled 3 forms and 1 bank letter they are telling me that my check was cashed out 5aug Nobody Knows Anything, Nobody Can Helps You. Our screen door was damaged for 2 years, i was writing maintenance requests for 2 years-zero answers. Pool is always dirty and stinky, actually pool is closed half of the summer due to chemical maintenance of pool!!! Multiple hidden fees on utility bills that someone just puts on your bills by luck and nobody ever can explain why!!! The Worst Customer Care i had ever saw!!! I could change my mind if they return my deposit, but SCAM with deposit return was the last thing for me. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

I had a horrible experience with yorktown apartments!! AVOID AT ALL COST! The staff is extremely rude and unprofessional. They lost my check for a month's rent and applied it to someone else's account. It took over a month to find out what happened to my money. There was no apology for the rude behavior that I had to go through to find out what happened to my rent. Not only are staff unhelpful but so is management! Both do not care about customer satisfaction.

Before you sign your lease know that there are tons of hidden fees, rent is very high "luxury" pricing for dirty, poorly maintained facilities, and you won't be getting your security deposit back. Management ghosted me multiple times when I reported smelling cigarette smoke daily, even though they tout themselves as a smoke free community. Ventilation connects directly to your neighbors apartment, so you'll definitely smell what others are cooking, if not smoke. This place was infested with silverfish bugs the 2+ years I lived there, even on the top floors. And people let their dogs pee all over the entrance and elevator (which are often out of order).

This review is a warning to people with allergies or lung issues!!! I originally gave this place 5 stars but I had just moved in and didn't realize the health issues I was going to have by living there. Also, I can not find my review to edit it so I am leaving a new one. I lived in the high rise for about a year. The staff is really great but the ventilation system is a shared system and I don't think it has been cleaned recently if ever. They can not find air filters that fit the vents so they put two smaller ones in there. Smells, pet dander, sounds, SMOKE and anything else that gets sucked into the ventilation ducts will come into your unit from other units through the vents. Some of them you can close but not all of them. It is supposed to be a smoke free community but there were a lot of smokers during the last several months of my living there. Also, they will charge you an early termination fee that is equal to 3 months rent if you need to break your lease even for health issues. I have seen some other reviews that complain about the staff but they were always extremely nice to me, quick to respond and they really tried their best to help me whenever I needed it. The only time they weren't able to help me was when I asked if my early term fee could be waived or at least discounted since I was moving so that I would not die. A few other things that I wish I had known: They turn off the air in the winter and the heat in the summer but as you know the weather does fluctuate and is never on a set schedule. The last 4 weeks of my stay there my unit stayed 88 to 94 degrees and this was around March/April. They don't turn the air back on until sometime in May. I was melting! They also charge you for utilities (water and gas) based on a percentage that is calculated by the size of your unit and how many people you have living there not by how much you actually use. I use on average about 8 dollars worth of gas per month but my gas bill there averaged about 250 per month and that was before the price increase that was happening as I was leaving. My water bill was also about 4 times higher than my actual usage. Also, parking is better in the garage if you can get a spot. I never had an issue with my spot being taken. However, for some reason a lot of people that park in the garage are unable to park their vehicle between the lines. **Response to Susan** I sent you an email

Went with a friend to meet with leasing agent, a young man who was not wearing a face mask / covering. I asked him why not and he stated "we don't have to". My friend and I left immediately. If they feel this way about potential tenants, I can only guess how they treat you after you sign a lease.

When I tell you words don't describe how unpleased I am with the service here. Management was quick to take my family's money to get a lease started up but as soon as they had it service just declined. There has been numerous times where hidden fees and multiple charges for the same service have been picked up on and not by management by me. My first bill or 2 they couldn't even tell me why there was multiple charges of the same service when I asked face to face. Before I moved in I was getting responses through text and emails quickly. After my deposit was made and questions kept coming because they kept demanding more money I noticed messages weren't delivering for awhile. When questions have been asked the Manager Stephanie just repeats the same sad sentence. This needs to be paid as soon as possible or you need to jump through hoops in order for them to explain your bill and match the correct charges. She doesn't care to explain anything it's sad how unwelcoming she and the other gentlemen in the front Nate was. Now they act so careless when issues arise. It's always I want the money now. If there are any mistakes on your bill they don't want to help it's just pay now or we kick you out. Ridiculous how I pay more than 2k a month for a building that has issues with the entrance door. Residents have to literally hold one of the doors open with a trash can in order to be able to get back into the building because the doors will not open. My family and I put down almost 5k to get this 2'2 never again. I can't stand how there's no one reasonable at this front desk to solve any issues. Washer and dryer is sad for what we pay. 2k for two washers and a third without a door. Has been broken since I moved in and fixing hasn't even been attempted. Carpets have the same stains that have been here since I first moved in. I have to pay for my packages to get delivered all over the place. Some come to my building and some go to the main building. Big inconvenience that I have to walk to the other buildings side to get a package and sporadically they show up all over the place. I pay too much in rent for the unwelcoming behavior I've received here. Good luck!

I will preface this review by saying that the current maintenance staff and most of the current immediate leasing staff are nice people. I think these folks are doing the best job they can with the cards AIMCO has dealt them. Let me be clear, you do not want to live here. I stayed at Yorktown Apartments from February of 2016 to May of 2018. Because the previous on-site leasing management staff directed that all units be renovated within the time frame of a few years, many residents, including myself, were booted from their unit. Many of us were told we had to leave before our lease was up. I was one of very few, fortunate individuals, who was offered a comparable unit at a comparable price, when booted. Some folks who were told they had to leave with the notice of 60 days were residents of the high rise building for more than 10 years. Additionally, because of the renovations, the construction in the building was non-stop. I was told, point blank, when I was signing my lease, that construction was done. To put it another way, I was lied to by the previous leasing staff. It was next to impossible to sleep beyond 7am or take a nap because of the relentless construction. If someone tells you the construction is done, refer them to this review, where a previous resident can assure you that he was lied to about construction being finished when he moved in. The building, is admittedly, falling apart from the inside out. The pipe under my sink leaked a tremendous amount in both units I lived in. The water from my kitchen sink tasted like it was hooked up directly to a fish tank (I got my drinking water from the bathroom sink). The elevators frequently were broken. There were at least a total of six days in the time I lived there that ALL THREE elevators were broken. Before you sign a lease for a 16th floor apartment, think if you, or your elderly relatives, or your young children, want to make that trek. I was told when I moved in that the telecom at the parking garage was going to be fixed. It never was. There were at least 90 days where I couldn't even re-load the card for the laundry service in my own building. The washers are not well maintained and there is mold build-up in all of them. The leasing staff accidentally gave my parking spot to someone else at one point. Also, I had $125 taken out of my $500 deposit for cleaning costs, even though I left my apartment in great condition, save for the streak marks left on the walls from condensation due to a poor ventilation system and grease marks left on the walls by construction crews that needed access to my unit for a air conditioning unit replacement that took an entire week. Also, please take into account, that Yorktown Mall is allowing the building of new condos right down the street. I can tell you from personal experience that that construction also hindered my ability to get to and from Yorktown Apartments. I have to say that the current leasing staff was helpful in extending my lease for a short amount of time when the closing on my house was pushed back. Having said that, upper management of AIMCO is doing a really poor job with this property, which is marketed as a "luxury apartment complex." I am telling any potential future-resident, you DO NOT want to live here. DO NOT fall for a lie to get your name on that lease. Also, I do not want a half-hearted apology from AIMCO following up this review. I want a cut of my money back for the perpetual inconvenience it was living in what was supposed to be my own home. I can't imagine, if you really wanted to make this better, it would take much for you to do that - but you won't, because you already have my money.

My roommate and I moved out in August of 2014 and about 1-2 weeks after move-out, we received a final cleaning bill of $120. After I disputed the cleaning bill, stating that the apartment was clean and Yorktown Apartments was replacing the carpet flooring with wood vinyl flooring, I didn't receive their next response till May of 2015 (nine months later). Yorktown stated the final cleaning fee was still valid after their final review and I had one week to pay it if I didn't want my contact info to go a collection agency. And the reason why we moved out was due to the rent increasing by $100 each year. After the second year of living there and the second proposed rent increase of $100, we decided to kick rocks. Don't get me wrong, the place had great balcony views, nice amenities in the summer, but my roomate and I definitely felt taken advantage in more than one instance at this place.

We have lived in a 2 bed 2 bath apartment for almost three years. The place was good, near to shopping mall but the apartment has so many issues. There were plumbing issues, windows don't seal and there is cold air constantly coming into our apartment.. Thermostat set to 74 and it's still freezing. Calling the leasing office to check for anything is a waste of time. They would never answer the call. I've spoken to the management multiple times and all they can do it put a plastic sheet over my window.. there's a gap between the floor and wall and cold air again comes in.. after a few requests they sealed that. There was so much of dust coming from the vents and we have complained so many times to the management and that was never taken care of. We pay $15 for parking that mostly is full all the time. We have a detached garage that I can rent for $85 so my car can stay off the snow but I'll have to walk in the snow to get out. We have an excellent locker system For packages but again I have to go to a different building to access that. We have carts to use but I have to go to the main building to again get them. Oh and the elevators, the glass from the ceiling fell right next to me twice. The elevators always have some or the other issues. And before the move out, we have cleaned the apartment and make sured the walls were sealed for any holes. We were still charged with a cleaning fee of $140 after our move out. We have spoken to the Aimco customer service and they're asking for an invoice for the cleaning service. I have spent so much of my time and money to clean the apartment and at the end they are asking for an invoice, which was never mentioned by word nor in the agreement. This is the worst customer service and worst management.

I've been renting an apartment at Yorktown Apartments for 6 months, and I've encountered a persistent issue with billing that I feel needs to be addressed. Every month, I receive duplicate charges for the same utilities, specifically the electric bills. I reached out to Stephanie Walker from the management team about these duplicate charges, and she advised me to set up an account with ComEd. Although I didn't fully understand the necessity, I followed her instructions and set up the account. Unfortunately, the duplicate charges have continued. I have sent three follow-up emails to Stephanie to inform her that the ComEd account has been set up and to highlight that the duplicate charges are still occurring. However, I have not received any response to my emails. I am disappointed by the lack of communication and resolution regarding this issue. I hope that the management team at Yorktown Apartments can address this matter promptly to prevent it from affecting other residents in the future.

Went with a friend to meet with leasing agent, a young man who was not wearing a face mask / covering. I asked him why not and he stated "we don't have to". My friend and I left immediately. If they feel this way about the safety of potential tenants, I can only guess how they treat you after you sign a lease..

Renter beware! You absolutely do not want to rent in this apartment complex. There are two buildings, the low rise and the high rise. We used to live in the low rise, but have since moved (thank goodness!). This complex advertises luxury; however, it is not luxurious in the slightest. There is garbage EVERYWHERE. I mean everywhere. There is garbage on the steps, in the hallway, and after a particularly windy day, all over the yard. However, they charge you as if you were in luxury at almost 2,000 dollars for a pretty small one bedroom. The layout of the apartment was nice and felt spacious for the small square footage. That doesn't mean much when all the appliances and bones are cheaply made. Definitely plan on things breaking frequently and don't expect the management to answer. When you call. They never answer. Even in emergencies. Our upstairs neighbor had her washing machine break and leak into our apartment. We tried to call the "emergency number" but nothing went through. Thank goodness it was at a time when we were friends with the maintenance worker (who was fantastic by the way) and were able to text him directly. If it had happened after he left I think we would have had a hole in our ceiling because there was just no one coming to help. Then, to top it all off, the elevator broke our last month there. It was so bad initially because the A/C stopped working, so they had to send us to a hotel for a week without a kitchenette, meaning we were forced to go out or eat chips. There was a little mini fridge we kept stuff to drink, but it wasn't very good. Did they give us food vouchers for the restaurant in the hotel... no... Did they give us anything to offset food costs... no. In fact we got a bill for the wifi we used at the hotel... so they didn't pay for that either. The best part is by the time we got back to the apartment, the elevator still wasn't fixed. The elevator would go on to not work for 4 months. Luckily we were in the low rise which is only 5 floors, but god forbid you have an accident or couldn't take the stairs due to mobility. They certainly didn't care. In fact, we had to move while the elevators weren't working making everything more difficult since it is hard to maneuver furniture around a narrow staircase. So basically if you want to be treated like a dollar sign where they try to take the most money from you while giving the least to you, this is the place for you. You don't get customer service because I am not convinced anyone works there to help you, but you also live amongst the garbage that never seems to be picked up and have cheap appliances always breaking... But on a plus note they are very dog friendly!

IF I CAN GIVE IT 0 STARS I WOULD I would not recommend the Yorktown Apartments to anyone looking for a new place to live. My friend Daoud who recently reviewed the place always complains about it. The windows in his unit were leaking during the rainy season, and despite multiple complaints to the management, the issue was not resolved. It is frustrating to come home to a wet and moldy apartment every time it rained and I wouldn't imagine living in such a place that wouldn't deal with these problems. The worst part was the unhelpful manager, who seemed to be more interested in making excuses than actually fixing the problem. They were dismissive and unresponsive to my friends concerns. Overall, the lack of responsiveness from the management and the subpar living conditions made it a less than ideal living situation. I would suggest looking elsewhere for better-managed and maintained apartments.

Over priced and not maintained well. Strict rules with pool, closes at 8? The pool is on top of the garage which is very "classy". The staff within the leasing office is extremely rude, and unprofessional. They appear to be adults with no corporate background, but I think they know how to Snapchat? Also apparently you will be charged to have a grill on your own patio.

Overall, I had a horrible experience living here. It is not a smoke free property by ANY means and the management does not do anything to address concerns. The prices are ridiculous and so many things were constantly broken. Not to mention cops were present at the building almost weekly, if not multiple times a week. You will not feel safe living here. The only decent thing about this place is the location.

We regret staying here. We had to move to a different state and were charged 3 months of early termination fee. What upset me is when we first moved in, the contract stated 2 months and on renewal they changed it to 3 months but did not clearly inform me and I should have looked for such things too which is my fault. They make it look like it is all good but look deep when you want to rent so you will not end up like us. Look for some other place if are in such a situation. The next worst thing- they said "when vacating do not worry about cleaning as we will use professional services for cleaning anyway and will charge you 120$". Sounds very nice but be careful, do not fall for it. I still cleaned my house and there was no damage, not even a single hole or any damage at all. They sent me bill for another 300$ saying damages. When I called they said there was damage and I asked for proof. 2 days later they call back and say there was no damage but do not laugh or faint for the reason they said. " There is cooking smell in the house and they have to repaint it". I asked if it is not considered part of normal wear and tear. How can you not cook and how can you not have smell in the house. They still charged me. They charge us for outside parking and often we do not have parking spots left. When we moved in there was lot of noise from repairs and we were okay with it. It costs a lot for electricity and gas as they were lot of empty apartments and all those charges add up to us. There is no A/C, it is either heat or cold, bad for considering a premium apartment. Maintenance staff respond very quickly and it is a pet friendly place though with lot of open areas.

They're 100% unresponsive as soon as you sign a lease. Horrible. They're doing major damage control with these fake "positive" reviews 2 days ago lol. Truthfully they are unresponsive and money hungry. They're sooooo for themselves that the one place you should be able to freely hang out (fire place, outdoor gym) is located directly IN FRONT of the leasing office and entrance so there's no privacy and you're constantly watched. 0/10

My husband and I have lived here in the highrise building for 2 years. Besides the elevators always not working and some residents being loud and obnoxious past 10pm outside, we are very very upset at our move-out experience with Yorktown management. Our first apt was a 2 bed, 2 bath. It was a renovated one and we liked it a lot. At the end of our lease, we moved to a 1 bed, 1bath apt down the hall. We did not want to pay a $120 cleaning fee so we cleaned the apt by ourselves. We left it in such a clean, pristine condition to avoid any hiccup in extra charges. My husband literally sweat trying to make the apt spotless, and we did. As soon as you walked in, it smelled clean like Lysol and it was spotless. A couple days after moving in to our new apt down the hall, we received a $120 cleaning fee in our final statement. We were very upset at this charge since we put so much effort into making it spotless. Luckily, we spoke to Ryan, who no longer works there, and explained this charge and he refunded the amount, why wouldn't he...we left the apt as we came into it: super clean. Thank you Ryan! For our 2nd apt, we chose to pay the $120 cleaning fee since we wanted to save ourselves the headache of leaving the apt in a clean condition. We were a bit worried since I taped something to the wall and while taking it out, I accidentally ripped some of the paint off. After PRE-moveout inspection, we spoke to the maintenance guy who said that the ripped paint was not an issue and not to worry about it since they patch up the walls and repaint anyway. A couple days before move out, we went down to the leasing office to ask them how much cleaning we need to do on our part since we are paying the cleaning fee. The lady down there said 'Nothing. You don't have to clean anything, just pick up any trash and take your belongings.' The reason we asked was because we wanted to keep our $500 deposit since money is tight and if it's some cleaning we have to do to avoid charges, we can easily do it. We received our final statement and not only did they overcharge us for cleaning, they charged us for wall damages! My husband and I were very very upset and outraged. Why are we being charged $95 more for cleaning!? And why are we being charged $90 for wall damages when maintenance told us it wouldn't be a problem and not to worry?! We are currently trying to get this resolved but no one is helping or listening to us! The Yorktown leasing office isn't even trying to resolve this and neither is the upper management at the corporate level! This goes to show you how much they actually care about their residents! Right now, in an attempt to explain the cleaning charges, they told us it is because we did not clean oil off the kitchen cabinet and we did not clean the bathtub/toilet. Umm, that's why I elected to pay a $120 cleaning fee! And not to mention, we asked the leasing office how much we need to clean before move out and we were told 'nothing.' So how do you justify the outrageous cleaning fee being charged to us?! For the wall damages, we asked if the paint being ripped off would be a problem and they said no. My husband was going to patch it himself. It turns out, they sent us a picture of the wall being damaged so much, there's literally a big crack in the pic! We were so upset at seeing this because we did NOT do this! I promise you, we did not do this! How did it get there!?! The wall picture they sent us doesn't even look like our apt, this is ridiculous! So we are being charged extra cleaning fees, and wall damages that we didn't damage! Someone please PLEASE explain this! We are trying to save every penny and asked beforehand what we would be responsible for and they told us nothing. The people here at Yorktown, including upper management, are not considerate. We lived here quietly for 2 years, never making a noise, always abiding by their rules and this is how they repay us. I am very very disappointed and regret that I did not take pictures or a video of the apt before leaving. Unfortunately I wasn't able to be there for move out inspection since I moved to Chicago city and coming out to Lombard on a Monday morning was tough. Since I wasn't there for the move out inspection they are saying I am out of luck and cannot do anything about these ridiculous charges. I pray to God, that someone will resolve this problem for us and we get our money back. I promise to God, we did NOT damage the walls like that and we would have cleaned IF someone told us we need to do a little cleaning when we asked them 3 days before we moved out. People, PLEASE PLEASE do NOT live here! You're better off going somewhere else to live. I was a midwestern university student, and I will never recommend Yorktown to any current or future students, or to anyone I know thinking of moving to the Lombard area!

Would love to give this place 0 stars. They market this place as luxury and it is far from it. Cops are at the apartment complex on average twice a week. You have to pay for numerous hidden fees monthly, the washer and dryer costs are expensive, you have to pay to get packages delivered to you (Luxor charges by the calendar year so every January), you have to pay $80/monthly to park in the garage but that's increasing to $100. The pool seems to have been closed down multiple times by the health department. Stephanie is absolutely no help in the office. Asked her for help on multiple occasions and she's either no where to be found or can't be bothered. We didn't give the apartment 60 days notice of us vacating so they charged us the rent prorated that we didn't even get to use (over $900). We never made waves at the apartment complex and they robbed us blind. We were told when we signed that dogs meet out in the back of the complex every night to play. This was a blatant lie. If you have a dog beware, they mark 80% of the grass as prohibited to dogs. Stay far away from here

Do not live here whatsoever. We were told that remodeling construction will take place Monday-Friday and I as I write, on a Saturday, they are currently doing LOUD construction at 9:30 a.m. in the morning!! Management is only concerned with remodeling units and raising rent.

I am literally sitting in the lobby of my Yorktown apartment due to the extremely loud noise level in my apartment due to construction/demolition on my floor. No notice, consideration or anything from management that I would be displaced and annoyed today for however long they choose. To make matters worse I would be penalized for moving out before my lease is up. Yorktown Apartments went from a 5 rating to a 1 because this has happen on several occasions with no regards for the tenants who live here and the high amount of rent you pay to call this your home. So extremely disappointed!!!!!!?

I would also recomend nobody get apartment here, super noisy, 80% of time no water.... they keep telling lie about renewing units ..... don't make decision when visit nice lobby .... its over price too

So I moved into this place in September of 2016 and it was my first apartment. It's not what it's all marked up to be. First let me start by they get you to sign a lease knowing they are going to kick you out to renovate the unit at a closer than later date. I had to be out by May first at the latest. So about 7.5 months. I was not planning to move or look for an apartment that soon. So if you're planning on moving here DONT I guess unless it's a renovated unit. Which reminds me of a conversation I had with a tenet who was moving out at the same time. She had a renovated unit and she said she's moving because the people that did the renovations were toddlers nothing was right. This place is all a hype... Lastly they lie and scheme ALWAYS! One example my security deposit....... I was told several time I will get my full deposit back since I have to move due to renovations... well I got my check in the mail and it was half of what I was told I was getting. I have them a call and Jake (who is just like Stephanie [irritating]) tells me it's for backdated utilities. Listen you tell me I'm getting my full refund then guess what I should have my full refund. I will then pay whatever I need to pay when you send me a ledger... These people are crooked. Don't move here if you have a choice. There are OTHER amazing places in Lombard and surrounding areas to live and they give you many deals. Oh one lady that works here her name is Rose. When in,over in a year ago COVID was just shutting down the country. The manager at the time was debi and she did everything in her power to make it a successful move and make us feel welcomed. While debi was here any problems that we had were handled fast and efficiently even when debi was out of state. This all change when debi left. The new manager Stephanie isn't a manager. She is a common worker that cares not for the at all.maintenance that used to be done quickly now takes weeks at a time to fix. Trying to get ahold of management during the weekends just results in going to emergency maintenance which may or may not do anything about it. For example at this very moment both gates to the garage are broken in the up position so that anyone can drive in. It has been broken for at least 5 days. When I asked the manager about it yesterday after it being broken for at least 4 days, she didn't even know about it. How can you be a manager and yet not even know what's going on in your own building? The elevators are constantly broken to where only one is available so I hope you live on a lower floor or are comfortable waiting for 20min with everyone else.There have been multiple complaints about the smell of weed in people's apartments. Management has done nothing from stoping the people responsible. They ask you to let them know when you smell it so they can find it, but if they're not working they don't do anything about it until they get back to work. All they did for us is add a neutralizer in our vent which maintenance even said is just a flimsy band aid that will only Last a month. There is constantly garbage all around the building that will never be picked up.the garbage bins don't have any lids on them and are constantly overflowing with garbage. If there's any wind during any day then expect to see garbage flying around the property to be left where it is. They have look poop bags and poop disposal outside in 3 different spots on the property. At any given day the poop bags are most likely gone and the garbage overflowing. The laundry room is something else. Washers are constantly broken and you have to call a third part to fix them and that takes a while to be fixed. The door to the room also doesn't stay open. When asked about why the door isn't propped open we were told it's a fire hazard. During the time that the door is shut there have been complaints of residents making other residents feel uncomfortable to say the least. Management said they couldn't do anything about it. When you come here management will tell you how they are dog friendly and not just that, but claim to be the most dog friendly in the area. They will also tell you about how residents have a "puppy play time" that they're very proud of. This is how they get new dog owners. There's a big problem with this. They have tried to disband this group multiple times and have told them that the group can't have playtime on their property or they will be fined. The dogs have never attacked anyone and the people who are part of it pick up their dog poop and look out for others who aren't to help out the community. Yet Stephanie the manager has personally come out and told us that we can not use their property to have any play time. When confronted she decided to talk down to us like we were children called into a principal office. They have no fence for the dogs even though they charge enough money to build a fence for the dogs. We have suggested it and asked for it, at that time we were told it will never happen even though our group has created a ton of new residents for them. If they try to sell you on the whole pet friendly thing. Don't believe them. Every single person who is a part of the play group is moving out at the end of their lease. As long as management is the same, I would 10/10 never recommend to live here. All and all not a well maintained are. The residents are nice for the most part besides the people with two small dogs that attack others that management refuses to talk to. Don't come live here.

I had lived at this apartment for almost 2 years and construction began shortly after move in and has continued the entire time with no end in sight. The final straw was when they started complete renovation in the units above me, which included concrete grinding floors. It was similar to living under a freight train Monday through Friday. All this after having increased my rent and with no notice as to the construction above me. I was charged a very large penalty for moving out early, even though I am a nurse who needs to be able to sleep during the day for my 12 hour night shifts. There is no respect for current tenants and I would recommend this place to no one. Please consider somewhere else. This is the only review I've ever written because I feel so strongly about this residence.

This place is horrible. I have personally been living here for over a year and half and I cant wait for my lease to be over with. They will tow your car just to make money. Even if you pay monthly 100$ and your car is registered under the apartment they dont care. Staff is not helpful and def not friendly. I have had them even loose my packages in the leasing office. I had Fed Ex trace it and they gave me the ladies name who signed for it but she denied it. Im assuming they kept it since it was a very expensive gift. The laundry machines always have a problem and will lock your clothes in it. Leasing office does not help you have to call the company that services it. All in all I made a mistake living here because it was close to the highways and the new garage looks nice, but not worth the price and def not worth the headache and heartache.

Yorktown Apartments are a rip off. AVOID COMING HERE! Their rent is too over-priced for the small, shabby, smelly homes they offer. Not to mention they over-charge for every little thing to make up for the huge losses they suffered for building their over-priced parking garage/pool. They charge 10.00 to park in the parking lot!!! Premier spots are around 50.00 and garage parking is 100.00. A regular parking spot - any open one in the lot - is 10.00!!! One would think a regular parking spot on the complex would automatically be included in your already over-priced rent. This is not the case. And for their crappy pool area - save your time. It's a cool view until all the drunks start ruining it for you. Glass beer bottles everywhere and drunk people hanging out at the roof-top pool, being sloppy and drunk everywhere kinda ruins the view. RENT SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! This place is a rip off.

I used to live here for 2 years in the low rise building and had a 2-bed unit. We were one of those people who got surprised by a notice on the door telling us to move out in 1 month due to innovation. We renewed the contract in August and got that notice in January. I guess they knew this the whole time but did not tell us? If we knew, we would not renew! What a selfish move! So I had to lock up another place (for the lowest price they had at the time) and still pay rent at Yorktown because I didn't want to lose the other good price. When living there, I did not feel too safe because the parking lot is dark and it's next to the back doors of a commercial plaza. There were a lot of people walking around. Our unit had a ton of bugs of all sort. There were cracks on the wall, cracks between the floor and the walls (hmmm, I guess where did the bugs get in). For that reason, I could smell everything the my neighbors cooked. The hallway and the garbage chute always smelled bad. For some reasons, there were a lot of pets in my building and one of the neighbors always let their cat roaming around in the hallway which scared the heck out of me. Because of that, the community washers and dryers had all sort of animal hair which got onto my clothes. Speaking of laundry facility... be aware of the machine you're using because people there wash questionable stuff and there were many times my clothes and blanket got chocolate (or crap) sticked on them (cannot get off) and I had to throw them away. Our unit was very old looking but I think they are in the process of renovating the whole place now. PROS that I like about this place are: - Free parking available - Cheaper compare to other apartment in the area (at that time) - Close to school - Big size/space - Nice neighbors - Good gym/lobby/swimming pool - Good maintenance team and staff - Luxer One mail box.

I toured this facility roughly back in middle to end of Sept. as I wanted to have enough time visit places in the area as I like the area. I also wanted to be closer to work with nicer place with better amenities. This complex was a big contender for me. Although I had sometime until my previous place had to be vacated I was told I'd be followed up with. As time got closer I was not contacted & subsequently went in another direction.

nice apartment, should be considered condo status, with no credit requirement, rent to keep % share or get % refund of timeshare use... factor in construction cost. factor in paper sql bank. did not get rent check back paid into for months. could use more attraction to common area stuff for population convergence plus sexual reproduction. swimming pool is ok, when I was there, few used it, and few used weight room, maybe convergence to main floor juice restaurant, as folk drink each day multi times a day, though do not swim or lift all day. I suppose one could drink pool water? a bus would make even more convergent. maybe even photo, name, sex, age, status on doors? prox to shopping mall, which less the value if a lot of flammable clothing spread there, and a lot of restaurants where meat of I don't know who is eaten. I suppose wall gardens could help, with timed sprinkler systems, and led lights, redundant water booster so no dry out and fires, poop to soil machinery in bathrooms, maybe load fruit into bank like thing for juice restaurant on main level? common area chairs or seating should be tightly situated at first, and then spread out as crowd increases. maybe sliding screens on wall gardens would retain "topsoil" and fruit until it is eaten or sent down to first floor for juice restaurant or similar. for good water supply, use retention pond, filtration, condensation filter? redundant or multi water boosting systems. could use local naked dancing club or dance floor?

If you have allergy issues do not stay on the upper floors. The heating unit leaves the apartment very dry. Don't be fooled by the new looking apartments the windows are not properly insulated and you will here your neighbors. The staff is very friendly and will do there best to help you. Rent price is ok and the area is nice.

It is a nice place to live; however, I'm updating my review after receiving the utility bills! I'm paying almost $200 in utilities for a 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment. Our water bill is almost $65 because they just divide the water used in the apartments AND common areas by the residents. Apparently the apartment pays a portion of the common area but I would say not a big enough portion. Also, they make you pay a separate HVAC charge during the summer months (apparently for cooling for the common areas), which is about $55/month. During the initial tour, I was told the utilities would be AT MOST $100 and I was never told of a HVAC charge (as we already pay gas and electricity). Clearly I was mislead.

As we were moving in to our apartment at this complex, my husband and I enjoyed the surprise of having laminate flooring that looked like hardwood, as we thought our apartment was going to be carpeted. We enjoyed the various amenities, including the workout room and the business center downstairs, as well as the free coffee offered in the mornings. The grounds were beautifully well kept, and we were able to park in the newly built parking garage. The fee for the garage varies depending on where you want to park (near a window, versus away from windows). We also enjoyed that the location was just a short walk from a mall and strip mall with a great deli. I personally enjoyed having the concierge office where I could buy a roll of toilet paper or paper towels, in case I hadn't gone shopping yet and had an emergency. The concierge also took clothes to a nearby dry cleaner; a little more expensive than I would've liked, but hey, that's what you pay for convenience. There is a laundry facility on the first floor with large, industrial sized washers and dryers. You can purchase cards and load them with money to use in the laundry room. There is also a coke machine in the laundry room. The concierge closed about 9-12 months after we moved in. No big deal, as I had become more familiar with the area and knew of other dry cleaners close by. This was a minor inconvenience. Another minor annoyance was hearing our upstairs neighbors through the vents in our kitchen and bathrooms. Then the real trouble began. Our kitchen sink overflowed no fewer than 5 times in 3 years, while we were not using it, with dark water that smelled terrible. The first time it happened, it caused some damage to our cleaning items under the sink. The manager at the time refused to pay for the damage. Another time it happened, they called a plumber to come in and diagnose the problem. Nothing was ever done about it due to the apartment not wanting to pay for an actual fix; instead they put the proverbial "band aid" on it by telling other residents not to put grease down the kitchen sinks. It happened another time while my husband and I were out of town. We received frantic phone calls from the apartment telling us that water was leaking from their ceiling in the office (we lived right above the office). Upon our return the carpet in the guest bedroom had been partially removed and there were fans everywhere. Fortunately the newer manager (who has since left) put us up into a hotel for a couple of nights while our apartment dried and was cleaned and re-carpeted. We made sure that they did not charge us for any water damage while we were moving out. Also, I came home late one night after being on call for my job. Someone had parked in my parking space, for which I paid a goodly amount each month. We tried calling the towing company, but they refused to do anything as we did not work in the office. Residents are told they can call the towing company if someone parks in their space; however, they are NOT told that the towing company will ask if you work in the office if you happen to call them after hours. Why bother having signs saying to call the towing company if the towing company won't do anything about the problem? Renters beware.

Yorktown Apartments are a rip off. AVOID COMING HERE! Their rent is too over-priced for the small, shabby, smelly homes they offer. Not to mention they over-charge for every little thing to make up for the huge losses they suffered for building their over-priced parking garage/pool. They charge 10.00 to park in the parking lot!!! Premier spots are around 50.00 and garage parking is 100.00. A regular parking spot - any open one in the lot - is 10.00!!! One would think a regular parking spot on the complex would automatically be included in your already over-priced rent. This is not the case. And for their crappy pool area - save your time. It's a cool view until all the drunks start ruining it for you. Glass beer bottles everywhere and drunk people hanging out at the roof-top pool, being sloppy and drunk everywhere kinda ruins the view. RENT SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! This place is a rip off.

Just awful. These apartments are incredibly overpriced for what you receive. I come home at least 3 times a week to my entire apartment smelling like sewage. Yes, sewage comes up my kitchen sink almost every day. One of the selling points for me was the "smoke free" community....not at all true. The people on both sides of my apartment smoke and the way the vents are set up, it smells like someone is smoking in my place! The heating does not function properly and don't even try to communicate with the office staff, they will smile and tell you everything is out of their hands. Look elsewhere, you can find a much nicer place for the prices they charge.

The apartment home itself is nice, we have no complaints about that. However, my biggest complaint is the fact that they take too long to switch from heat to air, or vise versa. Honestly it might seem petty but my biggest pet peeve is being hot and right now for instance, I am sweating as I'm typing this. It's only like 78 degrees outside but in this apartment, it feels like 100+. I understand that to switch a whole building's central air/heat takes more than just the flick of a switch but when I pay a GOOD amount of money(far too much as I have come to realize) I deserve to be comfortable in my own apartment and I am most definitely not. I have already had too many sleepless nights because of the temperature in my bedroom. Also, the prices are WAY too high for what you get. Again, nice apartments but not worth $1,300 for a one bedroom. There is a nice pool, a decent gym(its no xsport or lifetime by any means but it'll do), and a nice party room. I also have one very important thing to say...do NOT live here if you are under the age of 40 and plan on ever having more than 1 friend over on any given day. I live here with my boyfriend and we have a very small group of friends. We have gotten a total of 5 noise complaints and 2 police visits in the year and 1 month that we have lived here. I will say maybe one of the times we were genuinely loud(but it was 11:30 on a Friday night) and the rest of the times, our neighbors are just annoying. The best part is, one of our neighbors is a med student at Midwestern so he is no older than 25 or 26 yet he complains about us constantly. I am a very, VERY conscience person so I most definitely respect others but the thing walls of these apartment buildings just suck. The office staff has changed 2-3 times since we've moved in(again it's only been 1 year and 1 month) and none of them have been friendly. Some annoying person parked in my reserved/paid for parking spot more than 3 times and every time I call the towing company, they conveniently "do not tow from this location that night". I brought that to the office's attention via email and phone message and nothing was done, not even a response for that matter. Don't even ask me about the pets...I myself am an avid animal lover but the pets that live in this complex are so very annoying. Dogs will bark for an hour or more straight which just drives me crazy. All-in-all, I would most definitely NOT recommend this apartment complex unless you are older, willing to live in unbearable heat, and EXTREMELY patient.

My husband and I moved in here November 2011. We picked this "community" since it was close to his job, and convenient to the tollway. The apartments in the high rise are nice and adequate in size, but certainly not worth what they charge. When we moved in the rent was reasonable but I understand it is well over $1000/mo and you have to pay utilities (about $125/mo), and now parking due to the new "luxury" parking garage they built which will run about $50-100/mo depending on where you get a spot. Keep in mind this is not an enclosed heated parking facility, it's just basically covered parking. And "free" parking is limited and shared with guest parking. The apartments are clean, and a good size but nothing super special about them. Our bedroom window leaked pretty badly and they tried to fix it several times but it never seemed to be fully sealed. We faced directly West and the balcony sliding door/windows were very drafty and our door was almost impossible to open and close. They have started offering laminate floors to be installed when you sign a new lease, so if your new neighbor above you has them you can definitely hear them. They tend to overload tenants with notices, they will put them up in the elevators, and leave one at your apartment, in the mail room, on the office door. They did offer to sign up on their website and to receive notices via e-mail or text to eliminate the paper, but then they still sent them via paper. The laundry room is clean for the most part, but people often use the wrong type of detergent and screw up the washers. It's a very businesslike environment, more like a hotel than a community. The other tenants are not very considerate and do not seem to care about the common areas. I would recommend these apartments if you are looking for corporate housing or a very temporary situation. Also you have to give a 60 day notice if you are going to renew your lease. You have to pay to have the carpets professionally cleaned (about $130 for a 1 bedroom), and you have to have the apartment cleaned to move-in ready condition. They provide a maid service for that but you have to pay $90 for that. If you paint any walls you have to paint them back or you have to pay $80/wall for them to do it. On the upside the staff and maintenance were great and always helpful

Buildings were built in the 70's don't let them fool you with all the amenities they advertise. Horrible out of date forced air apartment system. You either have heat or air conditioning and you don't get to pick, maintenance does that for you. Windows are original Windows from when building was built. Leasing agents never answer the phone and always send it straight to voicemail. Not worth the money you pay.

Awful rental agreements. They cover every possible loophole you could think of to make sure you are completely stuck in your lease. If you need to leave it early (which in fairness, sucks for them) and have a good reason, there is no way you are gonna leave. They require 60 days notice to leave, even if your lease is set to end at a given time. No subleasing is allowed bc why would they want you to sublease when they can't keep the place filled due to the awful conditions? Elevators are always broken...one day it was running but they only had one tube light in it for MONTHS until it finally gave up to so you had to ride up in the dark. You can also hear your neighbors make even the smallest noises...kids running down the hall, your neighbors getting home, etc. you'll hear it all. And that is from the TOP FLOOR!! I can't imagine how much you hear living beneath someone.

I lived here in 2016. The staff members in the leasing area didn't seem to care too much about some concerns. The maintenance team was really friendly though. The apartment we were in was very outdated and the building itself was fairly dirty (we were not in the tower units which are new and nice). The gym was small but had decent equipment. The in building washer/dryers were terrible. The washer used too much water and rinse cycles so our clothes never had that fresh smell AND they were soaking wet due to a weak spin cycle. The dryers would fry our clothes even on the lowest heat setting. So we would end up with clothes smelling burnt.

The apartments themselves are pretty good -- they're well-maintained, relatively up-to-date, and low maintenance. I think the floorplans are efficient and spacious, with some offering large balconies. You'll get a lot of natural light no matter what side of the building you face. Compared to some other nearby apartment complexes, this property has the best units. Sound deadening is generally good, but conversations oddly carry through the ventilation system, as do some maintenance tasks (replacing flooring, for example, which seems to be happening very often). Unfortunately, it's the common area stuff that needs better care and policing. It's often disrespectful/entitled residents that the staff are totally indifferent to. The elevators routinely have problems that will take one of them out of commission, making for some very long waits in the morning or around dinner time. I've nearly been stuck in them twice but managed to force the doors open. The staff shrugs their shoulders at this. Might be worth mentioning that the inspection certificates have been expired since last year. The new parking garage does indeed provide plenty of resident and guest parking, but has constant problems with the entry gates getting stuck in both the up and down positions. My car was trapped in the garage one evening because the gate system lost power, and stuck outside the garage another time. On a weekly basis I notice that the gates get stuck in the up position, which doesn't make feel great about security especially considering that you pay up to $100/month extra for that garage space. Supposedly some parts were replaced but they're still quite unreliable. The workout room is a great perk, but it is rarely (if ever) cleaned. When it is cleaned, the sanitizing wipes are almost always empty or have dried out to become no better than a dry paper towel. I'm not sure if there are OSHA or health laws about this but I'd guess that there are. Lazy residents routinely leave trash strewn throughout the room, and I'd say that only 1 in 4 people actually cleans the machines when finished. The workout room seems to be a place for people to have obnoxious phone conversations more than anything else. Also, I hope you or your guests do not require handicapped parking. The complex does have handicapped spaces, but inconsiderate people without handicapped plates/placards routinely use them as their own personal spaces. Clearly they believe the rule doesn't apply to them. What makes this even worse is that the office staff could care less and makes no effort to police this or have cars towed. I've spoken up about this several times since I have a family member recovering from surgery who actually has a handicapped placard. This has been going on since the day I moved in so clearly it's ingrained into some residents' minds that they can do whatever they want. These same jerkoffs also leave their cars in the fire lanes for 2 or 3 days straight. By the way, the whole "no smoking on the property" thing is bogus. People smoke outside and even in the apartments all the time and nobody polices it. Don't move here thinking it's smoke-free...it isn't. After two years of putting up with these shenanigans, I decided not to renew my lease. My rent was going up about 10% year-after-year, though I really wonder what the money is used for. I suggest not leasing here unless you will do nothing but stay inside your unit and never use the elevators, parking, or common areas (unlikely). I think the management of this complex has changed a few times recently, if you care to know. There are a lot of new faces in the office on a regular basis. The new property manager seems like a cool dude, so maybe he can improve things. His office staff is infuriating since it always takes three visits to get help with something, however. I've waited to post this review until after I moved out and got my security deposit back, for those wondering...didn't want to face any repercussions from a bad review. Needless to say, I will never rent from Aimco again.

I've lived there for over 4 years. The building has gone downhill a lot, and the building floods a lot. Constant packages stolen even though they make you pay for a locker. Front door intercom has worked for about 2 months out of the 4 years I've lived there. Dont move in here. It has all the drawbacks of living in the city with none of the perks.

Don't rent here if at all possible. Not enough parking for paying residents. Towing company will tow a resident before a visitor. If you work late at night there won't be parking when you arrive home.

Just moved in and already have concerns. They made us move in three day early to charge us an extra 300 dollars for rent. Management was quick to respond to calls when trying to get us moved in. Now that we're in and have things that need fixing no one will answer. There are often large groups of people loitering in the parking garage giving it an unsafe feeling. Especially at night. Also we've been here a week and have had to call tow service multiple times because our spots we pay 70 a month for were taken. Will update review as time goes on.

I had trouble signing into the website so I went to the office for assistance. Stephanie helped me sign up without asking she me up for a 2 yrs lease. I told her I only wanted to renew for 1 year. She responded it was too late. I was going to work and didn't dispute it. Now looking ahead I'm seeing that the property standards are going down for the amount of rent I pay for a 1 bedroom. I've been living in this community around 7 yrs. Now I'm ready to move on. I hope the standards at Yorktown improve.

In all fairness, this apartment complex has gorgeous units and a pretty solid set of amenities but due to incredibly poor management I wouldn't under any circumstances recommend anyone to live here. In the year I lived here, I had problems with water under my floors, air ducts blowing in strange debris, unusual bugs in the hallways, and a lack of consistent hot water. Additionally, the key fob system used to enter the building was consistently inoperable, many inner doors had broken or insufficient hinges, and the parking garage entryway was often in a state of repair. There was even one weird month where there were homeless people living outside the parking garage elevators. Don't be fooled by lowered rent offers or one month free promotions. As they say, you get what you pay for.

Kathryn is the only one I have worked with that seems to have most answers. Apartment upon move in day was a chore as freight elevator was only available for a short time. I was told I needed an appointment which was not previously communicated to me. Lease was changed without my knowledge after signing and not returned to its original status until I brought a printed copy. I was told that month to month after the lease was up would be fine and not until reading the fine print do I find that it is an extra 300 per month. Limited parking is available so there is a nice parking garage but the price is unreasonable for the already over priced apartment. For this reason people illegally park and and even double and triple park in loading zones which the management is trying to something abou. We'll see. Apartments have had face lifts but the bones are still old. For this price closet doors and closets should not appear 40 years old with ten layers of paint. Unfortunately I did not see the apartment I rented until opening the door for the first time. Already sorry I rented here. Should have gone with my gut and stayed at Versailles down the street. Definitely will not recommend and will move upon lease termination. I'm not the only one I see as scores of residents tell me the rent goes up quite a bit each year. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance as I was. On the other hand it does seem very safe and regularly cleaned. Again thank you Kathryn.

I was really excited when I moved in to this place, The place is under new management (Debi) And before that, it really wasn't that good. We thought by getting or having this new person Debbie, that things will continue to get better. This is supposed to be a non-smoking building and for people like me who have allergies to that sort of thing this is an awesome place, however people still smoke and the management doesn't enforce any kind of punishment to get them to stop. They tell you that they will kick the people out for continuing to do this stuff, but those are just words!!!!! The people that work here just tell you what you want to hear. So I I'm really disappointed I expected more and I feel like this place has failed me. I've had to reach out to someone over 10 times because this is an ongoing problem and nothings being done, Just a lot of excuses...I've only been here since December of last year, so it's been about four months... That should tell you what you need to know about this place.

From the looks of this place you think it will be a great place to live. It's just an ok place to live. I can't believe they keep pushing back the date of when the A/C will be turned on. One person says something totally different from the next person. Why wouldn't they state that the heat and A/C are not at your leisure to use, we turn it on between these dates/months and turn it off during these dates/months so you will just have to either be burning hot or extremely cold for a few weeks. I would have NEVER rented here if I knew that. I even asked about it and was told "renters control there heat and A/C whenever they feel they need either one". The weather has gone up to 90 degrees on certain days and we just have to bare through it. I will not be renewing my lease.

If you are new to the Downers Grove, Lombard, Oakbrook Terrace areas and are searching for a place to live, then you might be looking into Yorktown Apartments. In addition to this, you might be looking at City View, Versailles, Brookhill, etc, also. Yorktown is about middle price range and the apartments are fairly big. If you are getting a 3 bedroom apartment, it won't be in the high rise building and it won't be near the parking structure. Thus, covered parking (preferred during winter times) isn't really available for you if you decide to live here. Application fee is $65/person with an additional $150 admin fee per apartment. They also charge $10/month for parking, which I find a bit ridiculous since we are already paying so much for rent.. One cool thing about this place is the gym is recently renovated and it is open 24/7 so that's a perk. The leasing office staff members are helpful and try to accommodate you as much as they can. Worth checking out if you're looking for an affordable place to stay in the west burbs.
