Detailed Information for Foxchase Apartments
Exercise extreme caution when considering properties listed by the horrible company “AIR Communities” on rental platforms. While their promotional visuals might appear enticing, prospective tenants should be forewarned of a multitude of hidden fees. Beyond the baseline rent, there are significant charges for amenities such as parking, water, and mail services, which often require an additional subscription. The following are crucial observations derived from reviews by past tenants across multiple platforms. It is imperative that you review these insights meticulously to avoid potential regrettable experiences.
Here is 15 reasons why you SHOULD NOT! consider moving into Foxchase Apartments:
- Inadequate Parking: Limited parking spaces leading to vehicle damage and difficulty finding spots.
- Unresponsive Management: Management is hard to reach and often unresponsive to complaints and maintenance requests.
- Security Issues: Poor security measures with unauthorized entries and a lack of action towards reported safety concerns.
- Maintenance Negligence: Slow and inadequate maintenance response, impacting the quality of living.
- Excessive Fees: Unexpected and high move-out charges, including cleaning and painting fees, regardless of apartment condition.
- Pest Infestations: Persistent problems with pests like mice and insects, inadequately addressed by pest control.
- Rental History Impact: Negative impact on tenants’ rental history due to association with the building’s issues.
- Violated Privacy: Reports of staff entering apartments without proper notification or leaving doors unlocked.
- Lack of Transparency: Deceptive leasing practices and hidden costs that are not communicated upfront.
- Compromised Living Conditions: Complaints about general uncleanliness and apartments in disrepair.
- Unjustified Rental Practices: The rental company’s failure to consider individual tenant records fairly.
- Unprofessional Staff Conduct: Staff behavior that is often described as rude and dismissive toward tenant concerns.
- Community Disregard: Perceived lack of concern for the community’s well-being and the personal circumstances of tenants.
- Inconsistent Policy Enforcement: Selective rule enforcement and unclear policy guidelines causing confusion and perceived unfairness.

Reviews for Foxchase Apartments
CORRECTION/EDIT#4: They came and fixed the dryer. I wonder if it never was broke. Sparks were witnessed. Tears were shed. But it's back on. LAUNDRY PARTY!!!! EDIT#3 JULY 2015: ("Jason" hasn't contacted me yet. Thanks for that.) WHAT ABOUT MY BROKEN DRYER THAT AIN'T NOBODY WANT TO TALK TO ME ABOUT??!?!?? Such an irresponsible corporation. To people considering living here, just know that your low low rent is going to escalate every year and you will have no option to sign an extension greater than 1 year at said low low rate and management doesn't care about you. Fix my dryer and we can be friends again! ___________________ What about the buses being too full to where people have to stand but then they say standing is illegal, but let people stand anyway? ___________________ What about the people smoking and playing with their dogs outside of your apartment after dark? ___________________ Why can't I give 0 stars? Well now they've cancelled intramural sports by firing the intramural sports director. I believe Foxchase even used to subsidize the teams (i.e. paid a portion of the entry fee). Add that to the shrinking list of amenities, which I was sad to learn FALSELY includes a sand volleyball court. Well, i guess technically they do have a sand volleyball court, but the nets are broken and the sand has virtually all turned to mud (i.e. cat feces). Notice, they've taken down the pictures rather than fixing the nets... it's still listed as an amenity however. One assumes Foxchase, if not AIMCO (the parent corporation) is going through a budget crisis, particularly in view of the ever ascending rental rates (5 increases in 5 years with no option of signing greater than a 1 year lease), and the option of reserved parking (within 5 years, parking has gone from free, to $5, to $10, +, and now the reserved parking spots available for a nominal fee of $50/mo.). Good thing i'm rich. The location is not that great, so i guess what keeps me here is the fact that i already live here and can walk to work. Whatever.
Don't get sucked in by the low rent you are quoted. They nickel and dime you another 10% or more. You'll pay for your own pest control, like ants coming out of the wall which you didn't cause. You'll have to get insurance for the landlord (not normal renter's insurance). The service companies they use will charge you even more. The billing company they use charges you to send you a bill. Your utilities are outrageous and possibly fraudulent. DO NOT MOVE HERE. Paying for your own pest control is all your need to know about this place to ward you off. Check out ants coming from the basement. YOU'LL have to PAY for their removal.
Whatever you do, don't move here... unless you wanna live with a constant fear of running into giant roaches inside your apartment. (They chase you btw). Already have been through half a gallon of insect repellent and continue to find them. No amount of the stress induced near hysteric deep cleaning that I have been consumed by has helped deter them.
I accidentally posted a 5 star rating just moments before getting started, so please disregard! Location, location, location !!! Its Great, however its a dump! If you have 1900.00 a month for rent then look around because you will get mad everyday when you enter these rehabed projects! The bldg carpets are disgusting and the games tthe mgmt played with me is what id like to share. I rented a 1 bedroom for a year and aside for the waterbugs i fought off daily in the spring and summer both inside and outside the bldg it was ok. So i decided to rent a 2 bedroom and all hell broke loose. The policy is blind. You cant actually see the apt and there is no 30 money back or satifaction guarantee. My concern was real and the complex mgr assured me if something did not meet my standard they would fix it. LIES, LIES AND MORE LIES !!!!!! I screamed and ahouted until they painted the bldg, half a.**cleaned the bldg carpet, resurfaced my kitchen countertops and i could go on for another several characters. I finally exhausted myself but in an effort to pay it forward.... I CAUTION YOU, DONT DO IT! They have yet to meet my standard! My lease is up in Sept and i look forward to moving. FYI I have NEVER written an apt apartment rating! Im not an angry person but i am hopeful someone will read this post and benefit!
RENTER BEWAREEEE!!!!!!! For starters, if you want to pay 1,500.00+ for a 1 bedroom (classic model, no upgrades), then be my guest 🙂 The apartments are ridiculously small, 1 bedroom-roughly 460 sq ft. The community is pet friendly, however, there's dog poop throughout the premises. The building I lived at, the door remained broken, and stayed open, huge security risk. Although, it is a non smoking community, I saw people smoke throughout the premises. The complex is built within the city, it's not sectioned off, so there's a lack of privacy. It's not gated, so it doesn't present a secure feeling. The parking spaces are very small, they try to squeeze in so many cars, if you have a nice car, or a car that you care about, I suggest you park around the back or risk getting your card dinged. Constant spiders and bugs were in my apartment. Mold was forever on my windows, regardless of how much I treated it, it would reappear. The units are poorly structured, I constantly heard my neighbors walking upstairs, you can hear the water running through the pipes, poor install. Lastly, what takes the cake is when I was in the process of moving out. I cleaned the entire apartment and they still charged me for damages, which didn't exist. I had to fight tooth and nail for them to refund me the painting charge. If they didnt' refund me, I was going to take legal action. If you do decide to move here, and when you finally move out, get a pre move out inspection. Also, you have to have the unit professionally cleaned, which wasn't specified in the lease agreement. Thankfully, the property manager decided to waive the charges. Save yourself time and a headache, and move somewhere, where you will get more bang for your buck. The only decent thing about this place was the maintenance. I could go on and on, but do your research thoroughly bf considering this community.
I made an appointment to see the apartments & speak with someone about the pricing & get more information. I drove all the way from Falls Church & even confirmed that morning that I would be getting a tour & speaking to someone about moving in. When I arrived there I was greated by a woman who from the start had such a terrible attitude, I believe her name was Jasmine. I told her I was there for the tour & she even confirmed by name & date/time. She said there was noone available to give me a tour & didn't provide any further information. She said I could reschedule for another day if I wanted to. Again, I confirmed the appointment an hour before arriving & was frustrated that they made me drive all the way to Alexandria just to be told that I had to make yet another appointment to see the apartments. No apology at all nor any respect for people's time in this place. If they wanted me to reschedule I would have had no problem, but instead they made me drive all the way there to speak to an unknowable rude woman who did not help nor provide any information. I will be looking at other apartments instead. Don't waste your time coming to this place.
If I could give zero stars I would. Overpriced apartments for the small amount of square footage. Super tight parking, expect door dings. Greedy is an understatement when describing Foxchase, nothing makes me happier than to move out and stop giving them my business. Good luck with the black mold and mice too.
Avoid at all costs! They engage in not only shady practices, but downright illegal. I brought in a restraining order against my ex-roommate to get his code changes so he couldn't access the apartment. They didn't want to because "that would be like evicting him". I don't know what their lawyers told them, but after realizing they would be liable for anything that happened, they finally deleted him. Since I still had time on the lease, I had to do a transfer to a smaller apartment or pay a ridiculous amount to break the lease. Unfortunately, that means I had to sign another lease .Then they told me (AFTER I signed the transfer paperwork) that I would need to pay for a professional cleaner. Since this is not in my lease, I sent it to my lawyer because no 2 people here will tell you the same thing. The woman working with me and the "manager" ( I believe her name is Stephanie) became damn near hostile when I mentioned my lawyer was looking into this. Prior to this, I have had strange men enter my apartment. Turned out they worked for maintenance, and I asked they call first. Getting ahold of the office is all but impossible. And the office staff is rude and disinterested. The apartments are cheap and property poorly maintained. Do not waste your money here I dont know if they're incompetent or racist, but the leasing people are inadequate, hostile and more than enough reason to leave. The location is nice, but management is beyond awful.
I lived in the apartment for about 15 months and it started off amazingly. I had no issues. However, towards the end of my contract I became aware of their rat problem and was completely disgusted. My husband and I used multiple traps and they all caught something, whether it was a rat or a small mouse. Moving out was pretty ridiculous. I literally only had carpet in the bedroom and used a rug doctor on it but was charged the move out cleaning fee because of the carpeted area . The day I moved out was the best day i had there. Parking was also a nightmare. I sometimes had to park on the street even though I paid for the permit to park in the lot. Do yourself a favor and find a better place to live. *my opinion is based from when I lived there from 2012-2014.
Foxchase is a true gem... Come sign a lease here and see why! God bless an overpriced, Alexandria apartment complex that is outdated, bug infested, and swamped with stink. If you aren't from Alexandria, don't even bother looking here. If you do, you'll understand it within 2 months in...
DO NOT MOVE HERE. I cannot warn you enough to not move here. If the pests, terrible maintenance of the units and buildings, lack of security measures on doors with broken locks, broken appliances, and administration office's complete incompetence and unwillingness to even return a phone call and even stating that they are not responsible or concerned with the safety of their residents, then our most recent issue should. A clog in the building's pipe caused a flood in our apartment which resulted in damage to our furniture and belongings. They "fixed" it and the apartment ended up flooding the next day too. Maintenance was terrible and offered no communication. We were forced to find another apartment when the general manager accused us of being "hostile and aggressive" towards maintenance staff (because we had complained) and the flood had caused such extensive water damage that they would have to tear out living room walls, baseboards, and possibly floor boards. This turned into a health hazard for my asthma and despite this and the impending construction, the general manager insisted that they required a 60 day notice and despite us telling her upfront that we were moving in a week and her saying that it shouldn't be an issue to prorate the rent, they wouldn't honor it. Now, after having to struggle to receive responses from her, she acts like she's doing us a favor by saying we must pay an entire month that we won't be there. After I pointed out a Virgina statute that stated that in a situation like this, they only legally needed 14 days, she claimed that they "don't follow Virgina law and only follow Aimco law." Do you want to live somewhere where the general manager states that they don't follow the state laws? I've now filed multiple complaints with corporate and with the Better Business Bureau. Please take the time to read these reviews (our mistake for not doing so) and find something else.
Disgusting apartments for the price you pay - I was paying around $1,300/month and had year-round spiders and house centipedes in my apartment. Out of the two years I was there, I saw 5 or 6 roaches come out from under my fridge - and I lived on the top floor! My microwave broke, my fridge leaked for the entire time I lived there (even after maintenance "fixed" it at least 3 times), my balcony door handle fell off twice, I had ants in my bathroom, my toilet started leaking and to repair the damaged tile in front of the toilet and fridge, they pulled tile up from next to my washing machine, so I had just bare wood floor. Not to mention after having a new toilet installed, I had to submit a completely new service request to have tile replaced in front of it since the new one was smaller and didn't fit in the space of the old one. Why they would think I would just want to live with tile missing in front of my toilet, I'm not sure - oh, and the handle on the new toilet was cracked when it was installed and I had to submit a new request for that too...I feel like it was just always something. Anytime I went to the office or called, the staff were pretty rude and short with me. I even explained all the problems I had during my move out interview, and the woman marked my move out sheet with "price" being the reason for moving. That was one of the reasons, but I just feel like they weren't that interested in any other issues I had. I would absolutely NOT recommend living here!
Mice. Lots of mice. You can hear them running around in the walls. Maintenance can't seem to find where the entrance is so that it can be sealed. Gross.
I went to see this place today 11/02/16. Roddrigs do not want to rent me at all with bad attitude and kept me waiting for 45 min taking calls ignored and finally came out without any paper work asking what I need and disappeared. He started playing on computer and can not pule empty place till I ask me to show me quickly as driving from out of town. He was very rude started blaming me. Finally showed model and did not know rates and started moving around curcer on laptop non stop. So I will walk out. I asked for manager in the beginning and he said she is off. I asked at the end, he said she was here and somewhere else and will be back and started cursing me. When I spoke to other female employee, they all ganged up as if they don't like to rent me due to where I am from and ask me to wait at waiting area. But manager never showed up. When I asked again, they said she is in another property. So what was the reason to waste my time when I was driving from out of town planning to cover as many laces I can. But wasted my whole day at fox Chase. DO NOT RENT here, as they hate if you are from another nation.
Terrible place stay away
LOOK ELSEWHERE!! You get what you pay for, people. Rent is cheap(er) than in the surrounding area for a reason. I read the reviews and didn't listen because it was cheap and I definitely paid the price of my sanity living here!! There is a reason there are so many vacant units. Rent increases once your initial lease is up and is over 10%!! Once you've signed the lease, expect the property managers to go silent. It's impossible to get ahold of them by phone. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything your neighbors are doing 24/7. (Yelling, fighting, crying, you name it, you can hear it.) If you have a complaint, they tell you to go to the website and file a complaint which then goes to a dead end and nothing gets done. Their monthly conservice charges (water, sewer, trash, other fee, pest control) are the highest I've seen anywhere ($150-180 a month). They will charge you both to clean $150 and repaint the walls $350+ when you move out deducted from your deposit. The only reason this place even deserves 1 star at all is because of their maintenance team, who are amazing. They are probably all underpaid considering how cheap this place is, but they do have a responsive maintenance crew!
Apparently it's okay to double park here & A1 towing doesn't tow on holidays when today (Dec 29, 2019 isn't a holiday.
Living here is horrible the maintenance staff. Dont due nothing goood. Ashley the manager dont care about the people living here I move out 3 months ago and i dont receive mi deposit. She just say are not . are not . due your job. Dont forget the roaches mice and all cain of pest
I used to have a great review for Foxchase posted, but now I am changing it after moving out. I always paid my rent, completely cleaned the apartment after moving out, and was a good lessee. Even paid hundreds in fees when I paid my rent a few days late one month AND when I paid my rent EARLY but got charged $100 late fee when I suddenly got sewer/trash charges on my account. I feel like AIMCO is stealing from me. This is a time of hardship that the whole world is going through and you already took my deposit. Do you really need $550 more from me because you wouldn't accept my VERBAL numerous phone calls requesting the price increase in my rent to see if I should renew?!?!?! This company steals from you, DO NOT MOVE IN.
Hello Everyone, I am writing this review because Foxchase was my very first apartment on my own and I am disgusted at the treatment and unnecessary charges after my move out. When I first moved I was paying for reserved spot but they did not have that spot ready so I was given a reserved spot across the street. They take a very long time in repairing things, I've had my shower handle replaced multiple times and the last time he replaced it he put it on opposite so hot was cold and cold was hot. I did not bother to call again because I knew it would take forever and I knew I would not be renewing my lease. They don't have a doorbell so you have to walk downstairs to open the door for guests. They have a terrible rodent problem which I called about but they did nothing to address the issue. They are roaches in the front of the building and inside. During my year stay I saw one mouse and come to find out there was a huge hole behind my stove and a hole behind my washing machine. The only good thing I can say about this place was my neighbors, my packages were never touched and everyone pretty much minds their business. When you first walk into my apartment it is pitch black because they have no lighting at the entrance which was a huge inconvenience. I had to walk with my phone flash light on every time I came home from work. I wish I had seen these reviews prior to moving in or else I would have avoided this bad experience. They contacted me several times to not move out then charge me $140 for uneven tiles in the bathroom, and $145 in bathtub surface damage for discoloration. Let it be noted that I also had to pay a cleaning fee of $95 but yet was charge for discoloration in the bathroom. I took care of the apartment as if it was my own but if you are moving into this complex note EVERYTHING! Any crack, nook and cranny because if you don't they will charge you in the end. It was my first time on my own and definitely a learning experience. I do not recommend this complex. They have a high turn over rate, for since I've been there 13 months I've seen countless tenants move in and out. Do your homework and learn from my mistakes, do not move here.
They fixed the outside lights like I asked but that week when I was visiting there was a problem with one of the tenants leaving the burner on and I ended up calling the fire department and the number for Dwayne which led me to options - I left a msg and the NEXT DAYYYYYYYY some guy calls me and said you reported a fire. I thought that was absurd because a day later they call to see what the issue was - THAT IS BAD SAFETY PROTOCAL! What would have happened if I didn't call the fire department. 🙁
I am writing to express my disappointment with the way both I and my wife were treated by one of your leasing office representatives, Mrs. Ana Munoz during my recent call and my wife's recent visit to your office. My wife visited the office on 02/15/2023 to inquire about being a head of the house, and unfortunately, Mrs. Ana Munoz was incredibly unprofessional and dismissive. Never she had a minute to listen to my request; let alone to help me bring about a solution. The representative showed a lack of respect towards me and made me feel like I was not valued as a tenant. The representative was rude and impatient, and I felt as if my concerns were not taken seriously. This kind of mistreatment is unacceptable and should not be tolerated in any professional environment. As a tenant, I expect to be treated with dignity and respect by your representatives, and I am extremely disappointed that this was not the case. I have been a tenant of your property for over 7 years and have never experienced such unprofessionalism from any of your representatives before. I strongly urge you to take immediate action to address this issue and ensure that your representatives are trained to provide excellent customer service to tenants. I hope that this review serves as a wake-up call to the importance of treating tenants with respect and dignity regardless of their origin or what program they are under. In conclusion, I will not recommend this leasing office to anyone due to the way I and my wife were treated. I hope that you will take this review seriously and take appropriate measures to address the issue. Sincerely,
I didn't have and roaches whatsoever. I just had a black poka dotted rat that comes out the top of stove , like a birthday surprise and walk around the house like he owned it since the Shirley-Duke era..
**Edited to add, this person commenting back to reach out is doing nothing and is probably not capable of enacting change at the actual complex level. For those looking at these reviews to determine if you should move here and like that someone is commenting back, it's not realy. Don't move here. It's not worth the literal headaches.** When I first moved in I would have reviewed this apartment complex a four or a five but after a almost two years I can't rate Foxchase any better than a one for several reasons. One: parking was adjusted and half of the spots in each lot were removed to make room for more reserved parking spaces. You have to pay for the parking lot access anyway so creating more reserved spaces is an unnecessary money grab. We were told it was because so many people were on the wait list for reserved spots, but there are still empty spots three months later (so much so they needed to offer incentives to get people to sign up before the end of the year). The removal of these spaces requires people who work late to need to park on the street or several blocks away though we are paying for parking lot access. Two: this is a non smoking community but I have neighbors that smoke cigarettes and weed at all hours that comes into my apartment and I've called the office three times to complain and yet nothing has been done about it. Three: My cat has killed two mice and a baby squirrel that have some how made it into my apartment but maintenance doesn't know how they got in (this has never happened at any other place I've lived in) Four: the rent increase year over year is astounding, I've never had such an increase in my yearly renewal at any apt I've ever lived in. I wasn't able to move during my renewal this year based on the costs associated while planning a wedding, but I'm not living here after the next renewal.
Unprofessional workers. you go into the office no one is ever there. no one can answer questions. I had to send out two emails to get maintenance and pest control done to my apartment. This leasing office/office is very unprofessional and unorganized. nobody knows what's going on. Also they are literally only open for about 2-3 days a week what the heck is that? I can't wait for my lease to be up so I can leave! this is beyond ridiculous. do not move here !
: A Disappointing Experience at Foxchase Apartments I regret to share my extremely unsatisfactory experience with Foxchase Apartments. From the beginning, there was a lack of honesty and transparency. The information provided during the leasing process was deceptive, leaving customers feeling misled. The issues extend to the poor service quality. Communication was consistently subpar, and concerns raised were met with dismissive responses. Maintenance requests were often delayed, and when addressed, the solutions were temporary at best. Parking has proven to be a nightmare, with insufficient spaces available for residents. This has resulted in an ongoing struggle to find a parking spot, leading to unnecessary stress and inconvenience. The living conditions are simply uninhabitable. From pest infestations to unresolved maintenance issues, the overall environment falls far below acceptable standards. The promised amenities were either nonexistent or in a state of disrepair. In conclusion, my time at Foxchase Apartments has been marked by disappointment, frustration, and a feeling of being misled. I hope this review serves as a cautionary note for potential residents, urging them to consider their options carefully before committing to such an unsatisfactory living arrangement.
Horrible, management not helpful at all
What is the corporate email for Fox Chase apartments ? My gf has been trying to contact them everyday for almost a month about her refund of about $800 that she was supposed to receive weeks ago and now nobody is answering her calls or texts. She spoke with the woman in the office, Jasmine. She told us she made a mistake on her side and that was the delay (this was after two weeks but the refund was only suppose to take 3 business days) but it's been almost a month now and we are starting to believe that my gf has been conned/stolen from by Jasmine because my gf found another apartment. Now going over all the money we sent over, we are confused about why she was just told to send over random amounts with no reason behind it. CONCERNING !!
Please do not rent there! You get contacted by Melody and Randy both of them are a JOKE! Cons ** No parking at night ** Old buildings always something wrong ** Service requested wait for like 2 months to be taken care ** Service manager doesnt do anything to fix it. ** Your packages will get stolen ** Tenis court? Well is a dog poop area ** Customer service, wait for the call back maybe couple of months ** Hidden charges You will be very tired of living there after the first month!! There many places that you can live for the same amount of rent or even less and with better quality and faster response!!!
Worse staff i ever seen in my life, its not apartments its zoo, just be careful with management staff they will trick u
The worst apartment complex ever, waste of time and money!!!
This property is very conveniently located and a quite area that is the extent of the good of this property. The office has made my time here an extremely bad experience. During the lease signing with the office I worked with Silvia who made promises that she could not keep. I was told by Silvia that I would be receiving $200 off my first months rent. When I went to pay my first months rent I noticed that the $200 was not taking off the rent. I called Silvia who stated that she would take care of everything and not to worry about it. I waited a little bit to see if there was change there never was and plus they charged me $100 late fee while I was waiting on a call from Silvia. I called Silvia again to see what was going on. When I called this time she said that she was no longer working for FoxChase and was now at a different property under the same management. I asked if she could still fulfill the promise that she made. She told me to talk to management and said that they already were made aware of the issue. I talked to the manger Damon who was not helpful at all. Damon told me that he was not aware of any issue and even if he was there was nothing that he could do about it...great management... Great manager.... They are friendly and nice until you signed the lease..
I applied for an apartment, but was still shopping around for a better one. These apartments are small, no washer/ dryer, have closed living spaces and are frankly way overpriced. Anyway, I was told by the leasing agent that if in 72 hours I did not sign the lease, I would no longer have the apartment and my security deposit would come back to me ($500). This was not the case. A month later, paying my credit card bill I figured I would call and ask when I should expect to see the refund. The regional manager was the least helpful person I've ever dealt with. He did not care what I had to say, offered no help toward the situation and was not empathetic at all. I can't imagine if I lived there and had an issue arise. I wouldn't trust this place with "customer service" like this. I am now out $500 during a pandemic; thanks Foxchase!
I was a resident from 2016 to 2021. The neighborhood is friendly convenient to everything including Metro 395 and 495. Buses are close by as well. Within 2 miles you'll find ample grocery stores shopping gas stations and restaurants. The Maintenance office is good to work with but the leasing office is not. They're very difficult to get in touch with and have deleted my former review as well as forged my signature on the lease renewal and charged me several months rent when I gave a 60 day notice to move. I wouldn't recommend living here at all. Also there was mice in my apartment every year for 5 years. They don't upgrade their apartments unless the tenants pay $200 more monthly. Very poor management.
Unprofessional! They rarely answer your call. And they are not responsive with emails. They reply when you're no longer interested. You'll lose your time and money.
I lived in Foxchase apartments for 3 weeks and had to leave because of personal reasons. I'm 23 just graduated from college and got a job opportunity out in DC. This establishment tied over $4000 onto me because I had to leave due to certain circumstances but even after explaining to them that I just don't have that money they wouldn't work with me at all. Wayne Harris is the worst manager at the establishment because after being told to get into contact with him I sent him an email explaining how I only stayed for 3 weeks and had to leave because of certain reasons he just told one of the other workers at Foxchase, ingnored my email and I had to find out his answer by calling Foxchase and have someone's else explain to me what his highness Wayned Harris said which was basically "we can't help you at all"... completely unprofessional organization and would no way at all recommend it to anyone. After a million phone calls they were able to drop it down a little above 3 grand that I now have to pay $266 a month for a year.... if you are 100% committed to this place and can somehow predict that you won't have to leave due to family/work/illness then stay because they won't cut you slack at all... Again, I stayed three weeks at the place and everything was exactly the way it was when I moved in but because they are starting to get a bad rep (on basically every online review website) they will try to milk as much money out of you...Don't make my mistake and make sure you have a lawyer to look over their move in contact and just a lawyer in general if you are living at Foxchase in Alexandria....they are sneaky...
Do not move here!!!!! Roaches, mice, no matter how clean & tidy we keep the place!!! Worst of all, I get notifications that maintenance accessed and "completed work" in my unit when I'm not there, even though I NEVER SUBMITTED ANYTHING. 3 times now. Anytime I try to get in touch with the office to try to get clarification, no one answers. I've tried to get in touch with them in the middle of the week, middle of the day, and I never get an answer or a callback. If anyone at Foxchase is reading this, CALL ME NOW, I will not hesitate to call the authorities for breaking & entering if this happens again. Completely unacceptable. Who is in my apartment when I'm gone and WHY?!????
THIEVES-I would give AIMCO 0 stars if I could. They basically played with my time and money. The managers gave me false information about my possibilities to transfer to the property just to charge me $600 dollars! They promised to give me my money back, and they did! But later, i get a call from collection trying to contact me because I didn't pay the application. oh and try to call fox chase... it is impossible to reach them. They are all rude. I will seek justice.
i live with my husband, they told him that you will pay only electricity and gas. the water included with rent. now they sending a $100 bills sewer and water. we are only 2 persons maybe we pay laundry room water bill instead of our bill.
Foxchase is cheap for a reason. I recently discover the reason why. Living on the ground floor brings its issues. One of those issues being, the sewage backup into my unit I recently experienced. Maintenance and management were both notified and advised me that they had a professional cleaning company on the way to handle all cleanup and sanitization of both the unit and my own personal property. Company arrived but did not clean much of anything. They left even after I advised them of the sewage still on the floor. Maintenance and management were both notified but being after hours no one was available. So taking it upon myself to sanitize the unit I did so. I contacted management about the issue the following day during business hours. no answer and the call went to voicemail, message left. The next day tried again. Still no answer and voicemail was left. That same day I received a survey for there service. I handled the survey the same way they handled the sewage issue. Poor grades were issued. The next day I finally received a response from management 3 days after the incident, who issued an apology and said that they would contact the property owner (Aimco) due to the situation and see if they could assist me in the damages since it was not of my doing. 2 days later an email was sent "sorry again but damage is on you and your renters insurance." The next day I received a call from the head of maintenance who apologized and said I should not of had to handle that problem at all. He said he will do better and apologized. Now a week later from the date of incident. I contacted management by phone and email again to see if they will assist me in compensation for the problem that was their responsibility and failed at doing so and I handled. Still no response. At this point I am beyond angry, the fact that no one in management seems to care and there almost lack of response has me curious of other health issues such as mine that have taken place. At this time I have contacted the BBB and filed a claim for Aimco's inability to provide a clean living space not of my own doing. I have also contacted Virginia's board of health and human services who will be conducting a health inspection. To investigate if any other tenants may have been exposed to sewage in there units and if proper measures were taken in clean up by maintenance and follow up by management. If this is what you can afford, be warned. There are other issues that will become apparent within the first week or 2 of moving in. Good luck if you decide to live here but if possible don't live on the ground floor unless you like sewage in your home.
This PLACE IS AWEFUL!!!!!!!!! DO NOT COME HERE.. I LIVE AT 516 N HOWARD STREET APT 402 SINCE APRIL; AT THE BEGGINING IT WAS OKAY...SINCE THEY IT'S BEEN CHAOS. I REPORTED TO THE MAINTANANCE TEAM ON 7/2014 THAT A DEAD RAT WAS SPOTTED ON THE BALCONY. THEY CAME AND PATCHED THE WHOLE ON THE WALL AND PUT TRAPS AND THAT WAS IT. TILL THIS DAY I STILL HAVE RATS ROAMING THE DINING, KITCHEN AND LIVING AREA OF MY APARTMENT. ON 9/25/14 I REPORTED TO THE MAINTANACENCE TEAM THAT I HAD BEDBUGS IN MY HOME. THEY DID ABSOLUTLY NOTHING AND REPORTED MY REQUEST AS BEING DONE AND COMPLETLED. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. YOU WILL HAVE A BETTER CHANCE FINDING SOMETHING BETTER AT THE GHETTO THAT LIVING AT THIS DUMP. I WILL MOST CERTERLLY GET IN CONTACT WITH MY FRIEND WHO IS A LAWYER TO SEE IF HE CAN HELP ME GET OUT OF MY LEASE THE LEGAL WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stay away from this property or get ready to have a lot of issue which you cannot solve with the management. Double parking fees, broken heater which was not fixed for 5 days during the coldest time of the winter are among a few more problem I encountered and trust me not the biggest problems I have encountered, funny right? First problem I had with this property started very early on my lease. For some reason the conservice bill was charged after the 1st of the month and as a good resident I was punished for paying my rent ahead of time I tried to contact the management as I received no response I decided to contact aimco and even their supervisors rejected that unfairly charged $100. Second, there is always a flat fee for $100 to be charged for you get ready for that! I have never lived in a place which charged $100 for forgetting your key inside this is freaking unbelievable. Third and not least problem was the one that drove me crazy was when they were not able to process a payment from an account which is mysterious because funds available on that account was much greater than what was paid for and was used to make payments, I was charged $50 this time 🙂 Fourth, people park at your designated parking lot which you pay for every single month, and those are the people who do not have parking permit. Not only that the designated spot is so small they keep hitting my car, I have called and called the office guess what no body has addressed this issue, they just send a friendly notice. Let me tell you it was very helpful 🙂 Fifth, trying to get the hell out of this place. Today, I received an email saying that they will charge me $100 to be exact $107 this time 🙂 for notifying them not within the 60 day prior frame. Thank god I have email communications proving my notice was indeed 60 day prior so I will be able to report them maybe get the last $100 🙂 If you already signed a lease and moving in good luck and if you are looking to live in a new place I would not dare living here or I would rent an apartment near the leasing office so I can easily go there and fight with them every time they did something like that.
My wife and I went here to view these apartments and even signed up for a 1 bed room apartment. But due to family situations we couldnt move in to these apartments. We lost 550$ to them for nothing. Basically these guys are money minded and after having talking to many tenants there, I learnt that they are the same with everyone. The apartments look so old, painted in the exterior but when you get in, you know that they are actually not well maintained. Apartment is tiny and I got this feeling that they have remodelled a studio apartment into a one bedroom apartment just to get more money. When you walk around the area you can see many rats running around. I really pitty the people living in the ground floors. I even heard from another tenant that they actually get many centipedes and millipede worms creeping into their apartments. In a way I am happy that we did not move in to these apartments. Please do not go for the price.
Avoid if possible! Last straw was when a large branch from a very dead tree fell on my truck I had to call the emergency line and the lady I spoke to was very unconcerned. Maintenance moved it almost 5 hours later, but the office refuses to return my calls about the damage caused. There are also bug issues in every tenant's apartment I've spoken to including mine. After months, I went to a third party for the pest control and finally have gotten it under control. Repairs are timely, but haphazard and often leave a mess or 'fix' the wrong thing.
Please please don't live here .Think very long and hard about what you're doing ! read the reviews before you decide to turn in your application fee . This is a warning horrible customer service , everything is very outdated horrible pest . I felt I actually own a pet mouse .
DO NOT LIVE HERE. you will be pretty much living & sharing your apartment with mice. Maintenance comes in to check for mice and say oh there is no way for the mice to come into your apartment. Yet you catch mice and mice droppings every night. I had to move 2 months before my lease was up because i just had a newborn. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE APARTMENTS
my experience at foxchase has not been a good one. i can never get in contact with the administration office. my house had been invaded by maintenance men who came in for a broken water heater and didn't even knock on my door. They came straight in and claimed that "they were told no one was home." since when does someone not knock before entering someones home also, when the appliances were being replaced in my apartment days after moving in, they used my bathroom and left urine on the floor and the seat. the door was also closed and when i went in to see the mess, the bathroom reeked of fecal matter. there was also trash left in my sink and food remnant. in the kitchen sink from where they were eating in my home at some point during their time in the unit.. overall, i am completely dissatisfied with this apartment complex. i will be TRYING to get in contact with the administrative office to end my lease. i will not feel constantly disrespected and fear for my safety because someone doesn't know how to knock.
This is not a place to live in!!! First thing it's all kind of bugs sharing the place with you!! Had a nice problem since my husband and I basically moved in. Reported sooo many times and just nothing!! We bought a house and just because we're not officially getting discharged from the military we have to pay $5000 to move out tho our lease is up!
I moved to -foxchase apartments in May 2020. Since I've moved here my experience has been great! I have really enjoyed the neighborhood as I've been able to walk around on the trails. When I see neighbors they wave or speak to me. I love being able to walk to the grocery store or to restaurants. It was difficult to move here during the pandemic because I didn't get to see my actual apartment until the day I moved in. However the staff did give me a virtual tour and let me come and look at a model apartment before I actually moved. Recently had an issue with my air conditioning on a Saturday morning. I put in a maintenance request online and 20 minutes later the maintenance guy came and fixed my air conditioning within a few minutes! I am very pleased with my experience thus far. I am editing my review. It is 1/31/21 and it is 1:49am and I am stuck with a mouse in my apartment for the second time. The first time I had a mouse in my apartment was in October 2020 and it was here for a whole month. Pest control and maintenance came several times to lay traps and seal holes. However, tonight has proven that not all the holes were sealed up. I am really upset to have to live like this. They just added a pest control fee to the rent because they have an issue with pests all over the property'. I think It's very unfair that I have to pay a pest control fee when I continuously have to have pest problems. I will not be renewing my lease.
I have been waiting for my deposit refund check since my move out in July. When I contact management to get more information on when I can expect to receive it, they give me the run around and then never reach out with an update. At this point, I am not expecting to receive my check and will unfortunately have to pursue external escalation since there is no resolution internally.
MAKE SURE YOU DO A WALK THROUGH OF THE APARTMENT YOU MOVE INTO NOT THE STAGED ONE!! It will look completely different! If I could give a negative score I would. The maintenance office is a joke. They can't fix an outdoor light that is constantly flashing into our apartment! We put in 3 service requests only to be ignored. A week later I had to walk down to the maintenance office for them to say it has to be contracted out. FOR A LIGHT!! Secondly there is a real issues with pests. MICE are everywhere. Several requests to have them removed. They simply put down traps. It's a infestation within the entire building ( probably the entire complex.)
Nightmare!!! Nothing good to say. Poorly maintained mice infested units. Laundry facilities are disgusting and cannot get machines fixed. Dog and cat piss in the hallways. Maintenance are not certified plumbers or electricians so it often takes 3 or 4 times to get anything fixed. No one is every reachable.
DO NOT RENT AT FOXCHASE!!! I retract my previous 4-star review immediately upon learning what a financial, physical and emotional death trap this place is. I lived there for a year and almost lost my mind due the disgusting and uncomfortable living conditions at a premium rental cost. Cockroaches everywhere, overflowing trash dumpsters every week, toilet that always became clogged and rarely flushed correctly, outdated and horribly filthy kitchen with old and often broken appliances, loud, rude neighbors that smoked inside and the smell would drift into my apartment and the list goes on. I hated every minute of living there and could not wait to get out of the lease so much so that I subleased the place. Now I'm on the hook for $1600 because the woman I subleased to did not give 60 days notice before moving out and the leasing managers will not work with me on removing the charge. I'm a reasonable person but $1600 for a notice fee is unreal and unfair. I hope no one else has to endure what I went through there for $1600/month hence why I am writing this awful review of Foxchase. Beware and look elsewhere even you have to pay a little more, in the end it'll probably save you.
DO NOT RENT HERE
Apartments are cramped and in bad repair. Expensive. Admin office workers are lazy and unhelpful. Not to mention, the finance office will find any way possible to cheat you out of more money. My experience was so negative that, for the first time in my life, I am suing.
I am currently living here and love the location because it is extremely close to two grocery stores, gym, and bus stations that go to both metro stops. The layout of the apartment is awesome, but there are some major issues. First, I was promised that I would hear minimum sound from the people who live above; mostly soft sound of footsteps. I was lied to and literally ever step they take is echoed through the apartment to the point that a couple of times, pictures on my walls have tilted from the vibration of the foot steps. Whenever they use the shower, it is so loud that it sounds like someone is showering in my bathroom. It was even loud enough to wake my partial deaf father when he visited last weekend at 12 am in the morning. There is a roach and mice issue here. Even as I am typing this, I can hear a mouse in the kitchen moving around. I have approached FoxChase about this 4 different times and their solution is to lay more mouse traps which obviously is not working. The one time an exterminator was brought to the apartment, I was told by the exterminator with a member of the maintenance crew present that he needed to come 3 times a week until the issue was solved. When I tried to schedule with him the times, I was told that the Maintenance Office would contact me. I have received no phone calls or emails to this date and placed my 4th request right before writing this review. Yes, this place is one of the cheapest apartments in the area and has a great location, but please evaluate what you are willing to trade off before signing a lease with the apartment complex. If you are willing to deal with heavy footsteps or showers that wake you up at 4 am everyday and roaches running over you feet while you sit at the computer(that was how I found out about the roach issue) for the location, then by all means this place is great. However, for me and I assume many others, this is not the case and I will not be renewing my lease.
I have only lived here for three months and I hate it here. The people in the office are incompetent at best and never have a direct answer or solution to any of my questions. There online system as serious glitches and ended up charging my card for twice my rent and when I brought up the concern to the office they said it was my fault and that I would have not only pay my bank to cancel the charge but also pay an additional $50 to the apartment complex! The maintenance team are quick and efficient which I find to be the only pro for living in this apartment complex...Parking is impossible to find after 9PM and really inconvenient when you come home from class at 10PM. Lastly the complex only offers Comcast as an internet service provider and this company is the worse and in the 3 months that I have lived here I have had to call Comcast on 4 separate occasions. Let me be frank if I did not have to use Comcast best believe I would not be paying $40 a month for such mediocre service. I am counting down the months until my lease is up because I definitely will not be renewing.
Worst place a human can live
Hello ! This is Berk Sayal ! I had an appointment today. I have a complaint for your company and your workers. When I come to the lease office, the man was very rude who is sitting front of the computer at the table. He asked directly" when do you move to apartment " it was a bad question! Do you treat to your every guest is like this ? is this your service quality? I've been talking with Jen for 2 weeks yours regional manager. I told her first, I would like to look at the apartment and then I will decide when I can move to apartment. Also, when I arrived to number 103 building, there was a code system on the 204 door. Why Didn't they say the code to me? I waited 30 minutes at front of the door. I didn't surprise. It was a bad greeting the costumer. it was bad guidance the costumer. I never come over there. I will never recommend any to my friends. I am writing this email. because you have to know this Dear Manager and talk them. !
DO NOT move here - seriously. I may not have a problem with mice like other people have, but management is incapable of controlling the cockroach problem. I had a FOUR INCH cockroach in my apartment today. This is a recurring problem - you don't see them for a while, then they're back in droves. I've lived here 2+ years and it's been a constant issue.
All I'm going to say is when you move out make sure you leave the place clean. highly recommended you paint the walls before you move out bc They will charge you if walls are dirty regardless of how dirty they are. I got charge $130 bc they repainted the walls. Get maintenance to come and fix anything you think might be damage doesn't matter how small they are. They will charge your for the littlest things.I got charge $150 for Insignificant damages. That can be patch easily for 5 bucks. We stopped by the next day to get our mail. Just to find out they were planning on remodeling the entire apartment. New walls, new floor, new appliances, everything in that apartment brand new. They already knew this will happen and still charge us. Very disappointed. I was planning to move back but after this experience. I rather stay somewhere else. Think about it before you move here.
Dodgy customer service. Could not log in to my account to play rent this month until after they charged a late fee. I called 3 days prior, and the representative said someone would call me in the coming days to help me log in. Called again today and the guy never put in a log that I called with an issue. So the girl had to assume I was lying to her about calling with an issue and I was treated as I liar when trying to explain the situation. So due to aimco/foxchases records keeping negligence I'm stuck with a fee for an account I could not log into and they are treating me as though I am lying about ever calling in the first place. Maintenance is A-, there are problems but the team is quick to respond and resolve issues (except i've been waiting for them to re-glaze the bathtub for about 4 months, they said they would schedule somebody to come in but no luck yet.). I was ready to give this place 4-5 stars, but they treated me very poorly with this exchange I would not recommend giving money to this place especially if you are a young professional with a heavy travel schedule. Thank you aimco/foxchase for treating me like a liar when I was overseas on a business trip and could not resolve this in person. I hope that late fee was worth another poor review. At least this helps add some transparency to your customer service and why you get so many poor reviews.
Do not live here. People are rude and nasty and threaten you.
Please don't go there. This place is infested with mice and they will not tell you the truth about it. They will charge you monthly for things that doesn't exist on your contract. And for the move out, they will find a way not to reimburse you even if you get professional cleaners, they will still charge you the full cleaning price. You can't walk 10 feet without seeing dog poops. So be prepared. There is no parking unless you pay a private parking. Well I can't list everything here but think twice before moving there.
Wonderful experience before and during move in; however, things completely changed once living in the community. Appliances continue to break, parking is scarce, and the shuttle service to the Metro station stopped a couple months ago. Although I am leaving at the beginning of next month, trying to get prorated rent reduced so I won't have to pay a hefty amount in two apartments was something that was not offered even though I am not staying during the full month/the intended lease date.
The worst thing as a female renter is having to ask the leasing center, multiple times, WHAT WILL BE DONE ABOUT BUILDING SECURITY?! Oh I guess I should be thankful we're getting fancy door locks now, but damn can you train your staff to have better answers than, "well we can't stop people from forcing the door open". EXCUSE ME?! Your people are a joke, your company is a joke, your business acumen and service skills are a joke, and if I had the chance to do it all over again I would've moved out and not renewed my lease. I waited too long to find another place- but I'm looking now and with luck and planning I'll be out of here SOON. These people have no clue how to run a complex. And these kids they hire couldn't tell a fart from febreze. They have fancy Surface tablets, with big screens and couches in the leasing center, while the apartments are INFESTED, wood is rotting all over, and the front doors can be pried open VERY EASILY- not to mention the poor state of the grounds. I will say that I saw people cleaning up in the mornings, which I am grateful for. They have more customer service skills than the people in the office. Like damn, if I'm visibly upset ONE WOULD THINK to have more positive answers...if the cleanup crew is nicer and more hospitable than your leasing crew, you gotta problem, bub. Don't be fooled by the cheap rent, and seemingly nice apartments, guys...it's not worth it. *sigh* I just don't know why it's so hard to find good apartments in this area. Oh well. EDIT: reading reviews, I see A LOT of waaaaay too positive reviews by ppl who've only made 1 or 2 reviews on google...looks suspiciously like bots or paid reviews smh
The apartment itself isn't that bad and the location is ok, its the management that makes a person not want to stay. The person who handled my paperwork to convince me to lease here told me that the average utilities for a 1 bed with 1 occupant would be about $50. I'm not holding anyone to this but when you ask what utilities average you expect something close. The minimum water bill is $50 which is billed through the apartment management (you pay for the billing service) so add in electric and gas and bills are much higher. They require online documents to include the initial lease. When this was finalized the website to do this was down. I was also not in Virginia. The person who I was working with was practically in a panic telling me that I would not get the rent amount I agreed to if I didn't sign the lease that day. If I had backed out it would have put me in a bind for a place to live. I had to give a code to him to allow him to sign it for me. He supposedly read everything but that was a lie. When I moved in I had to give my apartment key to maintenance so they could fix the blinds that were promised to be fixed prior to move in, no one seemed to think this was odd or cared that I gave up a key I signed for. About a month in water started leaking into the bedroom. I placed a service order that took three days to be filled. The person who went to fix it called me three times at work to "discuss" the leak. He spent most of the time telling me that I didn't close the shower curtain or had the water angled wrong, as if I didn't know how to shower without making a mess. I repeatedly pointed out that there was no water on the floor in the bathroom just in the bedroom. When I got back that day a letter reflecting the service call was left which stated something in the shower had been replaced. I guess he just couldn't justify not spending the money to replace a part that was leaking without risking me taking further action to resolve the issue. I received a letter of non-payment on my door a couple months later that was dated for the pervious year with someone else name. I had to make multiple phone calls to get that straightened out which ended with someone saying "oops that happens" and I should disregard. I had complained about noise at 2am from my downstairs neighbor but all they would do was send an email to everyone in the building. However, we got multiple letters telling us we would pay a $500 fee for smoking near the building or on our balcony, a second offense is $1000. But the worth experience was trying to move out of this place. I am a military veteran and dependent. We have orders, which too forever to get, but finding someone to work with me to end my lease early was a nightmare. I tried to explain my situation but was told sorry can't help and I don't work at that location, when asked who else I could contact. Beside the stress of having to continue to pay rent and prepare to move overseas when I finally got the orders they gave me a move out date after my lease ended! After many phone calls and emails (I wanted everything documented) they finally agreed to let me break the lease three weeks early. Upon move out I was charged $95. Yes the paperwork says you have the option to select that they clean the apartment for you and that it only costs $90, but they don't care. They will charge you regardless because you have to sign a document when you hand over your keys agreeing to it and when you electronically sign the documents to move out you don't have a choice but to opt for them to charge you. This place is a joke. Every time I was in contact with maintenance they were condescending and the management ignore you unless you continuously make a fuss. I you chose to live here make sure you read every line of everything you agree to. The location is good if you don't mind riding the bus for at least 30 minutes to get to the metro. Overall its pretty quiet and wood floors are better than carpet. The apartments look nothing like the models they show to get you to sign a lease.
Bad customer service, nobody ever picks up the phone.
Ridiculous management. When I moved in, the apartment was extremely dirty and with insects. I cleaned and stayed for two years. Everything was written in move in checklist. When moving out, they conveniently misplaced the move in check list and charged me a cleaning fee and paint fee. Charging me for cleaning fee when they receive the apartment in better condition than before.
Worst apartment complex ever. If you're happy there, wait until your move-out date when they start creating and adding nonesense fees and payments. They added approx 500-600$ for damanges, and 130$ for cleaning (the house was clean and no damages were there). Tried to reach out over the phone to simply ask for proof of damage, they told me to email them, and no one replied. After that, they deducted my downpayment of 500$, (also without showing any proof of damange/reason to collect the downpayment. Never seen anything like this. STAY AWAY!!!
I would give it 3 stars if it wasnt for the parking ! The apartments are very nice and spacious ! (Although our Bedroom door and downstairs bathroom door cant close or lock! A little gust of wind will mess up your cable. The washer isn't that bad but the dryer...We have to put our clothes in for two hours just so they MIGHT BE all the way dry and our oven light doesnt work. ) But the parking lot is ridiculous!!!!! Since My husband and I have been here which has only been about 3 months our cars have been dinked , scratched , and this morning I come down to my car to see my rear view mirror tilted to the sky with scratch marks all on the back of it!! We take care of our cars and make sure we always park inside and in the middle of the lines like a decent human being but I still come down to scratches and dings in my car!! IM SO FURIOUS!! AND TO THINK WE PAID TO BE ABLE TO PARK IN THIS PARKING LOT !! We are basically paying to get our cars dented and scratched all over!! We are on the brink of moving because this is freaking ridiculous!!
If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. Besides the price and location, there are absolutely no redeeming qualities about this apartment complex. First, they made us sign a second lease and moved our apartment a week before we moved in. This was forgivable as things do change last minute. However, from there on out, it has been a nightmare. The parking situation is horrific. Anyone can park anywhere and they don't tow those without a sticker except maybe once a month. If you live near the intersection of Taney and Raleigh, there won't be a day when cars are disobeying signs and causing near accidents. There are insects everywhere. No matter how many times they come to exterminate (which is often). They will not notify you before they do things. I.e. they had a contractors on our balcony at 8 AM without notice who came up by a ladder to work in the closet. Then posted after the work was done a week later that contractors would be coming in to do work. We also referred people who did move in and never saw the referral award after multiple contact attempts. They also forgot to charge us for pet rent for SEVERAL months, then called a year in to say they would start charging us. Last, but not least, want to charge us 2,000 dollars because they are claiming they did not receive our notice to move out within 60 days in the middle of a pandemic. This has been the absolute worst place to live. I never write reviews, but this has been such a horrible experience that others deserve to know about it. Save your time, sanity, and money folks!!!
DO NOT MOVE HERE! There are pro's and con's to everywhere you go, and I'm going to list both with extreme honesty. Please read this and seriously consider all of my con's before you even think about moving to this place. Let's start with con's: 1. There is absolutely NO insulation between these apartments. You can hear every single noise from your neighbors. Apartments all usually have horrible insulation, but these were EXTREMELY horrible. Every. single. day. multiple times a day I could hear my neighbors alarms go off, every phone call she made or received, as well as EVERYTHING she talked about. You can also here every time they shower, flush a toilet, open their door, or go in their closet. 2. The ventilation is horrible. You can smell absolutely every strong smell from every apartment. Every time someone cooks, especially with spices, your whole apartment fills up with the smell, and there's literally no escaping it. For example, one of our neighbors cooked cabbage one night ( we all know how disgusting that smell is) and the WHOLE building smelled horrible. Multiple neighbors called the office, and each other with complaints on how horrible it was to even be in your own "home." 3. The particular building we lived in (4478 Raleigh) is the grossest building you will ever be in. The building hallways permanently smell from all the cooking, and garbage people leave everywhere. The security door was broken for a few months, I put in a request to have it fixed, and then the next day someone broke it again. After that it was broken for another 6 months. Also the widow, the only window in the common area of the building, is always open and the screen is always broke, so i hope you enjoy bugs flying into the building and your apartment. Also outside the building expect to find dog poop everywhere. 4. You will have a bug problem. Ours was ants, and nothing was ever fixed or done about it even though you pay monthly for pest control. 5. Parking is horrible. There were days that we had to park blocks away from our building. We eventually paid to park in the parking lot ($15 a month) but then they towed our car. 6. Water. So when you live at Foxchase your water, sewer, trash, and pest control bills are through Foxchase with a utility service called Conservice. Now you would think that you would be charged for the water and sewer amount that you, in your individual apartment home, use. NOPE! You pay a ratio of what everyone uses. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD I PAY FOR SOMEONE ELSE'S WATER USE!!! Our gallon usage (for two people) averaged about 6,500 gallons per month! That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever encountered at an apartment complex. Paying for someone else's water and sewage. 6.5 THE WATER WAS SHUT OFF WITHOUT NOTICE ALL THE TIME! The first year we were there, it was shut off once a month, for multiple hours, without any notice. The one time we received notice was from our neighbor because she was having the work done, so she knew it was going to be shut off. There are more cons, but unfortunately google has a limit and won't let me post everything. I had 9 major explained cons, so just know there is more. Pro's: 1. Location. It's honestly located in on of the perfect areas. You have the foxchase shopping center right down the road, which is very nice to walk to, and have availability to. You also have a walking park right next to the shopping center, a library down the road, and it's very close to 395N to get to Arlington/DC. 2. The maintenance people were some of the best. They were all helpful, fast, and extremely nice. One man in particular we had visit out apartment multiple times, I believe his name was Melvin (older gentleman, bald, has grown kids), and he was simply the best. If Melvin was working on your apartment, you knew things were going to be done correctly. You can also always plan to have a delightful conversation with him. I hope you read this and other reviews and truly sit down and think before you decide to live here. If you do stay away from 4478 R.
I was looking for a cheap place to live in Alexandria and stumbled across Foxchase online. While I noted the countless bad reviews (regarding crime/rodents/smell/incompetence/etc), I brushed them aside, as I consider myself to be very low maintenance/with low expectations. Unfortunately, I made the wrong choice. I have never experienced so many hassles, and never been so angry at an apartment place. Background: Two months prior to my lease date, I contacted the office, booked an appointment, received an in-person tour, read the full leasing contract word-for-word, wrote a (roughly?) $1200 check for the down-payment/first month's prorated rent. I then signed the contract, the money cleared, and I entered into a legally binding agreement, in which I exchanged money for the promise of an apartment with the ADDRESS for my promised apartment ON THE CONTRACT. My assigned "leasing agent" was brand new and very incompetent, but I brushed that aside thinking, "hey, just because Cassie is new and can't spell anything, doesn't mean the whole organization is flawed....". Over the next two months, I stayed in contact with the office people, checking in, asking questions, etc. I set up comcast, gas, and electricity FOR THE ADDRESS ON MY CONTRACT. This address was also stated throughout several pieces of email correspondence that I had with the leasing agent. Cable man calls TWO DAYS BEFORE MY LEASE STARTS, and says, "Are you sure this is the right address?" I call up Foxchase and they say "oh gosh, we actually changed the apartment/address, you didn't get our call YESTERDAY?" (aka 3 days before the lease starts). I said, "No, you never called. It is two days before the lease starts. I have spent a ton of time finding a mover, setting up electricity, gas, and comcast to THAT ADDRESS IN THE CONTRACT". They said, "Oh, yeah, we have to move you". No apologies. No admission of guilt. Nothing. It was the last straw. I backed out. I had to race to find anything else - and sleep on a friend's couch for a week in the meantime. I told Foxchase to give me my money back immediately (since they broke the contract). They did, after a month of additional miserable phone calls and emails. I got lucky, because everyone I have spoken to regarding this apartment has reiterated how incompetent, unreliable, manipulative these people are. STAY AWAY. Don't brush this review aside like I did. I regret it.
Let me share about Foxchase as a current resident. This place started out great, NOT because of anything they did but because of the location and pricing. Summer 2017 until now has been dismal. Yes there are constant pest issues. My roommate and I dealt with bedbugs from August 2017 until March 2017. The neighbors who brought them in had been dealing with them from February 2017 before they spread to my apartment. Foxchase denied any knowledge of anyone else dealing with it. During the early part of the treatment services they tried to charge us for not preparing correctly though no notes were made about how to prepare those areas. Oh and they got all the dates wrong. They did it again in May 2018 when they talked about treatment for roaches (same neighbor brought those in too) and put the treatment services were gonna be done on May 28 which was MEMORIAL DAY! We prepped, they didn't show. WE HAD TO CALL to confirm if they were ever coming and then after we called they dropped letters saying to prep again. And then that day they took forever to treat which is a process that requires you to be out of the apartment 4 hours. If you talk with any staff they're condescending, patronizing and sound genuinely disinterested in your issues. If you have free time to be a "pest" to staff go for it. Otherwise I'd avoid it.
Only out to get your money. Shady management, Aimco is the worst, and the maintenance department sucks.
I have send my issue on my portal. If it's not life threatening no one will reply you no one will come and help you be aware!!!!
Becareful! This company is a scam. Don't pay if you're asked to do so. They'll charge you with a $50 application fee and reject it with no reason.
Transparency is an issue here. On my move-out statement, they charged me for bills that are not communicated. Reaching out by phone call requires a number attempts patiently. On the residents app, there's a menu with a title "move out instructions" which opens to a blank page.
