The worst apartments I ever stay in. If you are military do not stay in this apartments. One issue after another, while they talk about customer service, they NEVER follow-up. Elevators stay down, car break-ins, every month they changing a policy, poor maintenance staff. I'm glad I got out of the apartments.

VERY EXCITED TO LEAVE - I know I'm not the only reviewer to highlight this, but you cannot trust what the leasing office tells you about rent. The management seems to have a significant amount of turnover, are unfamiliar with landlord-tenant responsibilities, and will mislead you regarding pricing. As a result, the leasing office staff are incredibly unresponsive once you're a resident - they do not return phone calls, respond to requests to speak, or provide requested documents (including copies of your lease). I attempted to transfer my lease in accordance with what the leasing office told me was required (the only way to bring your rent down to market level prices), only to be told several days later that the unit, though still available, was going to be more expensive. Maintenance is slow to arrive and does very little to actually fix the problems once they do show up. Customer service/resident support are incredibly lacking. I happen to love my apartment layout, but I cannot stand to deal with the management staff, unfair pricing, and general incompetency any longer. EDIT: I see that management commented on this review, saying that would be willing to speak with me regarding the "miscommunication". When I did attempt to speak with them at that number, I was told that they were not authorized to discuss it with me, nor were they authorized to provide me with contact information of anyone who would be authorized to discuss it with me.

I wrote a review saying this complex deducted $750 from my account without my approval. This was during my initial discussion with Huntington Gateway when I was looking at a town house three months ago. They apologized and said if I removed my comment, they would give me my money back. They sent my an NDA that I would need to abide by after they refunded my money (that they didn't have permission to deduct). They have yet to refund me my money and now I have to take them to small claims court to get my money back.

I gave permission for the leasing office to charge me $50 for an application fee and woke up to an additional $750 charge. I haven't even visited the apartment complex yet. I called several times and was hung up on once, the other times the phone rang out. I'm really hoping this was some kind of simple clerical error but I'm beginning to get frustrated that I can't talk to a manager.

Update... the **New** pool furniture that was being ordered for the pool is actually OLD very used and dirty furniture! This place is such a joke! They probably bought new furniture for one of their nicer properties and sent the old stuff over to Huntington Gateway!!*UPDATE* "Susan" comments on everyone's review... never reaches out to residents and does not look into anything like they state. They just say the same thing to everyone. If they really cared they would reach out and look into the legitimate issues!! Reach out to her with questions?? I have no questions!! I'm just not going to be scammed any longer! This place is such a joke

There isn't any proper security or surveillance in the parking garage to ensure safety and security of residents. What is the purpose of surveillance if it doesn't capture what goes on in surrounding areas of the garage? Management at this property doesn't make this property a place to want to call home. However, the resident coordinator/leasing consultants are very nice and understanding and are willing to assist.

Booked a virtual tour. No one connected to the call. Their emails are just handled by bots., so you can't actually talk to a human. Cearly they don't want my business

Feeling mislead and increasingly grossed out by this place. The new parking space assignments- and visitors park WHERE? The fake story about residents deciding they "no longer needed or wanted" the metro shuttle. The mice suffering on sticky traps in the storage area, amongst residents' belongings (live traps work much better and are less horrific, btw). The new package locker room, replacing the friendly concierge staff, where we receive shipments for the wrong tenants (with no concierge to hand them to) and impossibly heavy loads in the trick access room where, if you manage to run in there before the buzzer stops, you're apparently free to walk away with as many stolen items as you can carry. The problematic individuals loitering in the retail section are becoming a more threatening presence, and the management company bought that section. Hire security! You can pay their salaries out of your savings from the lovely onsite staff you fired and all the extra fees you're inventing for us. It's embarrassing to have visitors. If there really was a CO2 emergency at the restaurant under the townhomes leading to its closure, and no alert was sent to those residents, shame on you. You have their cell phone numbers. A text alert could be easily whipped up. If that wasn't the case. You folks from California bought this entire place only to take more and give less. Can you try to be a little responsible?

Biggest DUMP I have ever lived in. The smells are as bad as you can imagine, so called "upkeep" is horrendous. Don't even get me started on RUDE and unprofessional Eva who refuses to take responsibility for her own mistakes!! They will overcharge you, keep your deposits, demand more by billing you and take advantage of you in any & every way they can! Just because they paint the building exterior (which was LONG overdue) they think that makes it okay to raise the rent by hundreds of dollars! There are MANY other buildings available to rent that are not in bad neighborhoods like this one is. Do yourself a favor and live elsewhere, at a legitimate apartment with class!!!

Have lived here since August of 2020 and have been displeased with communication between the new management and it's residents. When the new management had come into place they just so happened to lose my lease renewal that had been in process prior, so i had an additional payment for a month due to having to go through the renewal process after it was already supposed to be in place. The maintenance is very nice/kind but they do not alert you when they come. Additionally whenever there are updates that need entry we are notified via letter under our door, which can go unnoticed. More than once I have had people at my door needing in without me knowing prior because I didn't notice an envelope on my door! There needs to be email alerts or text alerts, as well as notification for entry.

This apartment complex was dirty, mismanaged, and regularly in disrepair. It was unsafe (right after I moved out a number of cars were vandalized in the "gated garage"), expensive, and an overall poor experience. Not to mention I was trapped in the elevators not once but twice while living here with no action taken by the management in response. Avoid this apartment, there are more cost effective and well taken care of properties nearby.

Update - 04/18 - The tube has recently been re-routed to go under the sidewalk for water to drain onto the road. So far the sidewalk has not flooded. ------------- Huntington Gateway has a severe water drainage or leakage problem that floods the sidewalk along Richmond Highway. It creates a safety issue for pedestrians who go around the pooled water and mud up and around the utility pole, where the water exits, or on the road. The water has the the potential to cause premature wear of the utility pole and sidewalk. Other neighbors and I have contacted the complex regarding the issue, but the problem remains. This problem needs to be resolved before Winter arrives to prevent large ice patches.

I saw an ad on Zillow for a 2 bed, 1.5 bath for $1498 per month. I called Huntington Gateway to confirm that this unit was available on Saturday. After confirming and telling me that this unit will go fast at this price (thanks for that obvious info) we scheduled for Sunday @ 4pm to show this unit. Upon arriving and being introduced to a leasing consultant (Sharon - she was absolutely wonderful and accommodated me the best she could), she informed me that this listing was inaccurate. It's since been removed. False advertising...? Poor customer service/management to say the least. I traveled from New Jersey to see this apartment as I am working remotely for a city in Virginia, but that is to change very soon. So I made this trip for no reason whatsoever. Thanks, Huntington Gateway. For lying.

My visit today was unsatisfying and the staff was unprofessional except one person. The female at the front desk had a dis-interested attitude and the leasing agent, Nicholas who assisted me exhibited poor customer service skills. As a potential resident, I did not appreciate feeling undervalued and dismissed. I was unable to see an apartment due to technological difficulties with the door keypad. All in all, I was under the impression I was going to see a one bedroom apartment but was directed to see a two-bedroom space. I acknowledge that the facility only had a two bedroom to show but that is not what I requested when scheduling a tour. Overall, I left with the impression that due to my early apartment search I did not deserve the proper acknowledgment and customer service as a potential resident. Regardless of my prior leasing agreement with another facility I should still be serviced as a valued member of society and a potential tenant in the future. I do not plan on revisiting this property and I felt very unwelcome. I will never attempt considering Huntington Gateway a place to call home and this establishment should be ashamed of their practices. This complex promotes supporting military members and as a fellow military member that actively serves my country I am disgusted. I am appalled that I trusted this facility providing aid to service members.

I've lived here since 2019 (2.5 years) and I've never really considered it "luxurious". For example inside our apartment the carpet is cheap, the paint is peeling off the doors, when they painted in general they did not clean the walls specifically in the bathroom so there are/were multiple spots where you can see the last tenant strands of hair under the paint (gross lol), needless to say we had to deep clean the apartment when we moved in, the appliances were dented and damaged, the windows let in so much heat even with the blinds closed that our electric bill gets upwards of $270+ a month, in our living room which is decently sized there is one window that opens and it's only a ventilation window, etc. I definitely feel like we pay a bit to much for our apartment. When we tried to negotiate our rent at our lease renewal the last management team told us it was illegal for them to lower our rent. The last management also told us a base rent of $1900 when we first looked here and then bumped it up $100+ once we said we would take the apartment. We pay $2012 base rent (that includes a military discount), $35 a month for our dog, average $55 a month for shared utilities so our direct rent to them is about $2102 for a 2 bed 2 bath (I believe 1,800 sq ft though the layout is sort of awkward so a lot goes unused). However there's also our electric bill which as I said is always high due to the windows letting in so much heat/cool air. So in total we pay up to about $2,372 a month. A month or so ago someone threw up on the elevator on a Friday night. It was STILL THERE by Sunday night, rather than cleaning it they put broke down card board box over it. They also say there's a call box but we've never been able to get it to work so getting food delivered to your door is an absolute nightmare. Now I would like to mention that we are under new management. The last management company was absolutely AWFUL and sketchy. The new company seems more professional but they do NOT care about their residents, only money. They lowered the military discount to 3% from 5% which I don't like given that they also raised rent prices. They also raised pet rent to $50 instead of the previous $35. They come up with any excuse possible to get even an extra penny out of you.Parking is terrible for $75 a month. You can only access building 2 from the first and second level. There's never any parking there though because people from building one, guests, and motorcycles park there even though they aren't supposed to and management does nothing about it. Plus the gate is ALWAYS broken so its not even secure There also seems to be a lack of communication within the office. I've had to complain due to noise (which I'll get into next) and each person I talked to said they'd pass it to management, needless to say whenever I'd call back the person I'd talk to would say they have no record of my complaint. We now just suck up any complaints we have because of that because there's no use. Now, regarding the noise, they are currently remodeling some apartments which is really great don't get me wrong. However, the noise of these remodels is absolutely unbearable. As someone else mentioned it is so loud that it sounds like someone is inside your apartment with a jackhammer! When I called the office to ask why we were given no notice about this (they're working on the apartment above us AND next to us) they had no answer for me. Now I get it, they have work to do and they have to get it done sometime, but some sort of notice would have been nice. What is completely unacceptable is there have been TWO TIMES now where they have still been doing very loud construction type work in the apartment next to us at 9 p.m. When we called they said "no one should be working right now" okay, that's great so why are they? lol. She tried telling me that there wasn't anybody there. However I saw the workers entering and leaving the apartment with tools AND I could hear them blaring their music through our wall. She said she would look into and have management call me but they didn't. I do not recommend renting here, there are much nicer apartments with better amenities that are more affordable. I can't wait till we're able to move out and I wish we would have never renewed our lease with this terrible place. Overpriced garbage.

Thank God For REVIEWS!! I am looking for a luxury apartment. But, after reading these reviews; I simply cannot position myself to "maybe" deal with disrespect, hassles, issues, rudeness, smells, and overall lack of care for the tenants. For me, absolutely unacceptable. So, many thanks to everyone who wrote a positive and negative review;. Your time to do so is valuable. Because of you, I am taking my peaceful and stress free life elsewhere. Hope the management "team" resolve these issues expeditiously. If not, oh well...

A couple of years ago rent was a good price and a nice place to live, but ever since new management took over it was one problem after another. This place has a rodent problem. When you bring it up, they tell you pest control comes once a week and all they are going to do is put down traps. They won't investigate as to where the rodents are coming from. Packages that get delivered goes missing at the front office. Lost out on about 600 dollars total from the theft. When you bring it up nothing is done about it. They are never in the office or willing to help. It's like they don't care about you they only want your money. They are doing "upgrades" to supposedly make things "better and safer". Haven't seen not one security or cop patrolling the area. You have yelling all hours of the night. No type of comprehension for that. If for some reason you decide to live here, when you move out don't bother cleaning they will charge you. Overall this place doesn't care about you they just want your money, pick another place that cares about you, your family and your personal property. And doesn't charge you for every little thing

Don't trust any reviews that are saying eight or nine out of 10. The new owners do not give any types of craps about the residents. They are currently painting the outside of the building which must cost a lot but all of our outside locks are not functioning with the exception of the locks that they use to show people around the building. There was a great and amazingly secure system before but now there's a cheap number pad that only locks on a few doors. Eva is condescending, the other guy is cool. They have threatened to come into our apartments and evict people over smoking even though this community has been a smoking community forever. All of the carpets in the hallways in both buildings stink and are filthy. The pools don't work anymore, its not as safe, and the new owners clearly are just trying to hurry up and flip it so that it's not their problem anymore. The old owner cared about the residents and prioritized our safety. I hope that this new company understands that they have increased our rent and taken away all of our amenities. Do not recommend under this owner.

Good maintenance crew and great driver. I find the units too expensive for what is offered. The main issue I see is management spending lots of money in outside decor and none in maintenance and upkeep of amenities. Currently my AC unit has been repaired 6 times in a 2 weeks span and management refuses to replace it. Mold in the ceiling on the parking garage. Garage doors are constantly breaking and no upgrade in sight. Multiple false fire alarms due to kitchen fans not working correctly. The thinnest walls I have seen ( I can hear my neighbor's TV shows and they are not loud). Security is nonexistent, multiple breakins on the garage. Main door locks seem to break a lot. Pool had many dirty bugs floating multiple times and there seen to be no control on who access the pool (seen neighbors bringing groups of 20 people).

The Ad says "Assigned Parking". That is a LIE--most cars do not have the entry door sensor in windshield and there bare NO ASSIGNED parking spaces. BIRDS poop on the cars because no screens on window openings--NO CONSIERGE--NO SHUTTLE--Construction noise all day--HARDWOOD floors are noisy. Elevators constantly broken. WARNING--No Security--cars damaged theft. Dogs poop in tennis court and bark in AM and night.

UPDATE: The gateway hasn't cared about having their garage secured for years. Last night 7 vehicles were put on blocks with wheels and tires stolen and one vehicle was stolen from the garage which is supposed to be a secure area that we pay for. If thats not bad enough the management team is offering nothing to those affected AND made zero notifications to any of the other residents regarding this occurrence . An obvious severe security issue. Complete disregard for the community's residents. If i could give this building zero stars I would. The place was ok when we moved in in 2020, since the new management took over things have only gotten worse. They are spending all the money on painting the building and power washing the garage instead of the interior of the building or the amenities. The elevators are literally dangerous and there is no way they are up to code. I've had to walk to the 11th floor about once a month because the elevators are broken. Ive been TRAPPED in the elevator multiple times (for almost an hour) and I am pretty sure 90% of the buildings residents have been trapped too. They are working on replacing the elevators and construction got shut down for a week or two because they DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A PERMIT. And oh yea, there are roaches galore here too. If you are thinking of moving in, just don't, there are way better places for the same price.

Scheduled a tour for 10:30AM. Nicholas the leasing agent confirmed the appointment the evening before. We arrived at 10:25AM and waited until 10:50AM and no one showed up to show us the unit. First impressions matter, Nicholas. If management can't even show up on time to give me the keys to a SELF GUIDED TOUR than they are probably not capable of much more important qualities needed in a leasing/management office. We won't be leasing from here which is too bad because I was very excited about the unit and building. Do better Huntington Gateway.

These apartments sound nice to rent but I'll never know considering I've been waiting on a call back for three weeks. Every time I call I reach the corporate office and not the local office and I'm told "I'll put your info in and they will reach out to you" them when I call back they say they only have one person doing all the work. Smh so if you're looking to even tour this place good luck getting a call back.

I will keep it simple and straight to the point. These are things I am dealing with as a tenant living here for a year and some change.- Constant, ongoing renovations in the apartment above mine. When I asked about how long the renovations were going to take, management repeatedly acts like they have no idea there are renovations going on. They keep saying there are no renovations going on in *apartment number* despite me seeing it with my own eyes (yes, I went up there and spoke to the men renovating) and hearing it every weekday from 930ish - 1pm. I have even provided video proof to the leasing manager of the noise. I work from home, so this is extremely disruptive. They are hammering away as I type this. This has been going on since at LEAST October 2021. It is now almost October 2022.- To date, 4 different packages of mine have gone "missing" from the leasing office. Their policy is residents must pick up their packages from the leasing office once they receive an alert from the office. I have also received notifications for other residents' packages so I'm sure they have received mine. The leasing office has offered no compensation, apology, or real follow up so someone has just been enjoying the goods that I paid for. That's called theft. - They have gotten rid of the shuttle that people relied on to get to the Metro. They instead directed us to use the bus stop or walk (I guess the older and/or disabled residents that used the shuttle were not taken into consideration). There was also a shooting at that bus stop recently. Seems safe, right?- When it came time to renew my lease, management sent me the renewal offer at 6:30 PM and said I had until the "end of that day" to let them know if I was going to accept the lease. They did not even give me a full business day to weigh my options. Oh, they also jacked up the rent $400 (around a 31% increase) for the exact same apartment (with zero renovations). I believe this was intentional. It is very clear they are trying to rid this building of its existing tenants and replace them with people willing to pay over 2K to live in an area where they could be shot at the bus stop. Also, all of my kitchen appliances are from the 80s. - Shady people in this area use: the common area, the garage, and the side of building 2 to engage in their shady activities. As a woman, I refuse to go outside after certain hours without my boyfriend. - Management almost towed my car from the parking garage for NO reason. The note they put on my car said I did not have a valid parking permit (that we have to pay $75 a month for). I took a picture of the parking pass that was clearly displayed in my windshield and went to speak to management. They just scratched their head and said they made a mistake. That mistake would have costed me hundreds of dollars that I am certain they would have not helped me cover. Luckily, I was able to speak to them before my car was towed. That's all I have to say. Choose wisely when considering living here.

This place is the worst with communication and if I were you I would not waste my time. I wish their was a no star rating. I am in the process of relocating and as we all know it is very stressful. I have 2 mixed breed dogs that are rather large. One is 80 pounds and the other is 55 pounds. When I called to Huntington Gateway to ask about their pet policy, they told me the weight limit is 80 pounds per dogs and a maximum of two pets. This can be found on their website and I attached a screen grab for everyone to see that it says 80 pounds each. Now I book a showing that I had to leave work early for and am so excited that after traveling back and forth from NY for 3 months that I may have found a place. Get to this place and the outside neighborhood is a little less than pleasant but I was desperate. I was a little early and the leasing person was in her office and made me wait until my schedule time which is fine. When I sat down with her I mentioned my dogs and she said their weight limit is 80 pounds combined. Complete waste of my time! I told her what I was told and what the website states (pictured) and she didn't even apologize. Instead she stone-faced stated it again with a rude undertone. I will be completely honest at that point I was not nice and thanked her for wasting my time and stormed out. They are clearly false advertising and ruined the only piece of solace that I would finally have a home. I am sure it is a nice apartment building as it was nice in the waiting room, but if you have large dogs do not go here. I hope this review saves someone else from this utterly horrible disappointing feeling of failing at yet another place.

the keys in the doors do not work. All the staff is unresponsive in solving this issue. Staff has even said themselves multiple residents have this issue but refuse to fix it. The only solution they give you to opening the door to your own apartment is "jiggle the keys". they don't send anyone to fix it or offer any reimbursement for this extremely unprofessional and important issue. How are they going to leave people stranded in the halls outside their own apartments that WE PAY FOR!!!!! The staff doesn't care about the residents and don't care whether you have a place to sleep or not. Again in your own apartment that you live in and pay for but they can't even give you the proper keys.

I had started a review before the latest owners took over. At that time, it was 5 stars, and it was a wonderful place to live. Now I agree with others that if I could give zero, I would. This is a bit long, but I wanted to let you know, don't rent here until after the ownership changes again. The amenities I moved in for have been disappearing one by one. First, the shuttle to the metro was 'broken', but it never came back. During COVID, we were notified that due to lack of ridership, it would no longer be offered. Hey folks, people were either not working or working from home. Being in crowed or enclosed areas around that time could be deadly. No wonder no one was riding the shuttle. Next, the trash cans in the walkways and other common areas were gone. Of course, things started looking bad. The best of the folks on the maintenance team, who had been here for a number of years, were gone. Then the concierge was discontinued, the locks were replaced in the common areas, and in the apartments with key pads which are contracted to a third party. The ability to buzz someone in is now gone. The key pad locks eliminated the ability to use the deadbolt when you go out. A lot of the leasing staff were either let go or quit. The break-in to the garage and all of the thefts and such didn't happen until the front office was not open on a 24x7 basis. No one left to watch any cameras. The ability to use the loading docks to put out large items is no longer allowed, and if caught, it's a hefty fine. This was the impromptu garage sale area. The new lease has so much fine print that the company is basically not liable for anything. There is more, but these are the big changes so far. I am sure there will be more, but I will be gone.

Honestly I've never had a issue that wasn't resolved before the apartments changed ownership in Oct/Nov of 2021. I've lived here since April of 2021. But ever since ownership changed everything's been awful; aside from the new platform with paying rent and the money being taken from the wrong account- I have to say new management is the worst. Eva Taraseviciute is the worst apartment manager I have ever encountered. It is very difficult to get a hold of her and I've emailed her about several issues that are still yet to be resolved. Also let's not forget Nick who works in the leasing office. I don't think I've ever had a pleasant conversation with him. We received an email mid January about the text notifications system for packages being down and there were going to lockers put in the leasing office as of today the system is still down and no lockers. Eva was covering the concierge desk and she had no awareness of that residents are not currently receiving text messages. So aside from her patronizing and indifferent attitude towards my husband, she dismissed him and we were not able pick up our packages. He went back and was assisted by concierge and we were able to retrieve our packages. Eva's excuse was that she doesn't work the front. As a property manager you should know the inner workings of all your departments and protocols. Concierge is wonderful as a side note. I've never had any issue with them!

When I first moved here in April 2021, my rent was $1,450 and if I renew my lease, it's going to be $1,750 a month. I moved here because the prices seemed fair for what I was getting, but now this company is getting so greedy, especially with the pet rent. The only updated things in my apartment are the door, thermostat and sensors which honestly aren't an improvement. The apartment I'm currently in is definitely not worth $1,750. Do not get me started on the constant construction. I work night shift and the noise is constant leaving me with 2 hours of sleep most days. This has been going on for months and it's enough to make me get out of here as soon as possible. Just don't move here. They also like to take $700 out of people's accounts

The new management is absolutely horrible and based on that alone I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Their communication is appalling and dismissive, but I will say their front desk workers and shuttle driver are amazing. We had to break our lease due to a work relocation and it was like pulling teeth trying to get any sort of communication regarding what was needed from us and here we are 5 months later still waiting on our security deposit to be refunded... We have sent emails and tried calling only to be told to send emails to which we never receive a response. Bottom line: the management is unprofessional and difficult to communicate with which makes it a nightmare as a resident/former resident.

It's a rare occasion for me to ever write a review, but I'm at my wits' end. This place is getting worse by the day. I've been living here since 2016, and the previous management was very personable; someone from the leasing team was always available in the office during the day. Ever since new management took over a little over a year ago, they got rid of the concierge desk and service, which was one of the best parts about going into the office- you had that face to face interaction with a human. People from the previous management were consistent faces you'd see routinely on property, and you knew their names because they actually cared about the tenants rather than just taking your money. Now it's virtually impossible to get ahold of anyone. The current officer manager has a condescending attitude and approaches you as if you're an inconvenience and don't have basic intelligence. When she sent my new lease contract over via their online payment portal, I had signed it and submitted everything. I thought I had satisfied my portion of signing. No one communicated that once I signed and submitted, they have to sign and send it back to me for me to then click accept and submit again. Because they failed to relay that second step to me, my rent went into a month to month charge, and the rent amount was $2000 higher for 2 months compared to the rate that was reflected on the contract. This issues remains unresolved to this day, and I have yet to get my over charged amount back. The turn over rate is so high now, and people are moving out left and right. Construction is 24/7, which makes you not even be able to hear your own thoughts, let alone take any work meetings while you're working from home. They recently put in all of these "upgraded" features that no one asked for. For example, since they got rid of the concierge service, you no longer have people receiving and holding your mail; instead, they installed these Amazon style lockers, and if your package is in there for longer than 3 days, they will charge you $10 per day for the overage. I've repeatedly experienced package delivery issues because many carriers are confused as to how to use them. Seriously cannot wait to move out of here! Do NOT move here; save your money and move somewhere else that is a more pleasant living experience.

Don't move here at all...this is my second year here and everybody is complaining about the same thing, believe every bad review you read. Don't move here is you have little kids, If you work at night or if you want a secure building to live in...old management was a little slow with request at times but they were way better than this air community that took over everything I see them fixing on a daily never works for long. They've been making consistent noise everyday all day for a year now. The fire alarms DO NOT WORK AT ALL. The elevator always cut off and stop working. Every since they started touching stuff, everything has been breaking. If you complain to management they don't care, their never even in the office. Don't get me started on packages. Whoever they had logging in packages dont know they are doing I have been receiving email to come pick up people packages that's aren't mine. I would not recommend this place at all

Update: had to lower from 4 stars to 2 stars since management and the building are a lot worse now. The elevators are never working, constant renovations and building work even on weekends, the building is dirty. I'm looking forward to moving out. Update 2: It has gotten even worse, only 1 elevator services the whole building. Renovations at 7am constantly including weekends. Constant fire alarm tests, extremely dirty and just all around disgusting. It's a shame this place has gotten so much worse in the last year, I'm shocked at the rapid decline. All of the gym equipment is broken and dingy.

Finally, the garage door is repaired. And it only took 6 months. That is half a YEAR! But now the large overhead door on the loading dock in Building 2 appears to be broken as it is ALWAYS open. It is easily visible from Richmond Highway so anyone passing can see that in the middle of the night, you can walk right into this building. This is worse than the garage door as it allows access to the hallways, elevators, trash rooms, as well as the garage. The management here is more concerned about wringing every last penny out of tenants than providing a safe and secure building. STAY AWAY.

worse management lying to the customers juice to get the contract. I will not recommend this place at all , first of all too expensive to pay here for the management they have very unprofessional. They told me after one year you can do month by month and right now. They are telling me that I have to do two-year contract with them, but if I do month by month my rent will be 3100 but if I do two-year contract my rent will be 2400

Horrible place to live! Recently bought by Russians and do not care about the kind of tenants who move in. We are currently house section 8 tenants whose life habits are totally disgusting.

*I do not live here* I reached out as a potential tenant. Long story short, they overwhelmed me with texts about a virtual tour I had confirmed many times previously (STOP TEXTING ME!) && once it was actually time for the tour, they had the AUDACITY to be LATE (wow lmao) REALLY? So EVA is who lead my virtual tour and she has a BAD ATTITUDE! Good thing she did not offer me a tour in person (LMAO FR! She had the game messed up!) PASS ON THE TRASH && Y'all don't even have balconies for one. READ THE REVIEWS!

Very unprofessional. Super rude. Was told I got accepted multiple times just to find out I was actually denied. After already paying a $250 move in day fee .. been over a month and still haven't received my money back after they told me I would receive it back 7-10 business days. Units super tiny not worth the rent at all that their charging

Trash. My girlfriend just moved in a few weeks ago and this has to be one of the worst experiences with a property she's had. They are rude and don't address issues in their units. She moved in to a unit with a number of issues. After reporting these issues to the maintenance crew, instead of trying to fix the issues - they tried to challenge her claims before reluctantly addressing these problems. Everyday's been a challenge since she moved in. Please, please, please - think twice before you move here.

It is a great location, close to DC and Old Town. However, it is not the nicest area (right off noisy route 1, and parallel to some of the sketchiest motels) and my unit was not renovated so all of the appliances are extremely old and things constantly broke. The walls are paper thin, I could literally hear hummed conversations from the neighbors on one side and the screams of a toddler on the other side. Regardless of these minor issues, I was content with my time there until they did the lease renewal, which was a near 200 dollar increase. Then my eyes were open to everything, the smells in the hallways, broken front (main entrance) door, slow elevator, and to boot I'm starting to have ants. It was not worth it, other complexes in the area just have more to offer at the same price point.

We lived at Huntington Gateway for 15 months. I wished we had done a lot more research before we moved in. They spend way to much time on the outside landscaping, when they should upgrade the inside of the apartments, the pictures they show on the website is NOT what the inside of the apartments look like in the inside. The hallways look outdated and smell. As far as the management staff, they are pleasant but they do not return your phone calls. I do want to mention we will truly miss Turner he was always super nice and kind.

I have lived here for 2 years and the service is getting worse. They were recently bought out and supposedly was to have better service. Their mailroom is a mess. Some of the staff have difficulty finding packages. They have been trying to upgrade locks, thermostats and water sensors for over 6 weeks. On three different occasions, they have asked me to lock up my dogs so that they can access the apartment. They give an 8 hour block. Each time, they have canceled the after I have left for work. My dogs have free reign when I am not home and this is causing significant problems for them. They do not clear walkways well after storms. The maintenance people are great, but do not call before arriving despite being asked to several times. Recycling service no longer takes aluminum or glass! Not that anyone here knows how to recycle. There is Always trash in the recycling bin. This place maybe "cheap", but you get what you pay for The previous company maintained the lawn area well. There is a dead tree since the summer that is dropping limbs on the walkway that has not been removed. They left broken limbs in the walkways for more than 2 weeks after the ice storm and smaller branches still litter the area.

2 stars for administration when it comes to close out. I was sent a final payment along with a ledger showing the breakdowns. This is fine. Easy enough i took care of it. Then.... 3 months later without being contacted by Huntington I received a notice in the mail from a debt collector to collect on behalf of..... Huntington Gateway. I called Huntington and they sent me the same ledger/descriptions with different numbers this time.... Unacceptable and write to inform/forewarn future residents to the closeout process.

It was a good place until they stopped keeping it clean. People got away with letting their dogs poop and pee all over the sidewalk so you had to walk in the street. And then they did not secure the property. Seriously, random drunks coming over from the shopping center, the ABC store. Gross.

I was looking forward to virtually touring this complex but unfortunately their disorganization led to my appointment being missed without anyone telling me ahead of time. I waited for 15 minutes before leaving the video call and searching for other apartment options. It's hard to justify living here when they can't even let you know that a simple virtual tour needs to be rescheduled.

This is very strange, but how are reviews being removed!? I wish I had remembered what I was writing about and had some pictures to add. There is no way this apartment building has just a few reviews because they are very, very old, and under each different management company in years, buildings were not maintained good. The location is nice since it's close to highway access and metro station, but there are many other better options around

I just moved into Huntington Gateway, and so far so good. I haven't had any issues, the apartment is spacious and the Smart Rent app makes locking your doors, setting the thermostat and everything easy. This review is mostly to sing the highest praises to Pragna, our leasing agent, was incredibly helpful and answered all of my questions when I visited and moved in. She is kind and repeatedly called to check in on me as I was unpacking and getting settled, and answered ALL of my questions! EDIT TO ONE YEAR LATER: I made my initial review right after I moved in in February 2022. To be honest I love my studio and it's an affordable price (i currently pay around $1530 for an un-renovated studio) , however I signed up to live alone but now I have roommates in the form of COCKROACHES!! Since January 2023 I have had a PERSISTENT roach problem in my kitchen. (i live in a studio so my bedroom is in my kitchen is in my living room) everytime I cook, roaches come out my sink/cupboards to get some scraps. My apartment was sprayed in February, but the roaches came back AGAIN in March. (Once, I was cooking and opened the spice cabinet and came face to face with a roach in my spice cabinet). So they sprayed my apartment AGAIN in late March/early April. After i cleared out my kitchen to have them spray for roaches, I moved almost ALL of my kitchen into my pantry and my kitchen counters/cupboards have been barebones empty for about 2 months. Today on Memorial Day I cook a real breakfast + a real dinner and guess who I saw come out? Another mf roach. My lease is up in less than a month and I really am very excited to finally live in a place free of roaches

After a year moving out I get call from collection agency saying I owe Huntington Gateway some fee. I absolutely dispute (At least most of) the items, but that's secondary. They had phone number, email of my spouse and I; they didn't think necessary to contact either of us for a year to either ask why didn't pay (what they say we owe them) or to ask for the payment itself. They had our information to send to collection agency however. It just makes it hard for me to dispute since it's with collection agency. Vultures!

First I'd say the maint. engineers are top notch. The management is unresponsive. I've had my rims and tires stolen from the garage (over $3500.00) and not even an "I'm sorry." Instead they were quick to defend themselves by telling me they would not pay any of my insurance deductible, rental car and other expenses. In fact, they even raised my rent "because it's the annual rent increase policy." Do I need to say real jerks. I'm not the first to have stolen car rims and tires from this place and still no cameras and periodic broken garage doors. You would think for the cost of secure parking you should expect some security. None. Bad management people has been my experience here. They just don't care!

*update*I've been here since may 2020 and ALOT has changed. If it wasn't for my view....I would move. It's an OKAY community. For the price it could be way better. Most of your "luxury" bonuses are non existent. Since the new management has taken over, they've really slacked on quality of living for the residents. There is constant construction....day in and day out. Working remote it's unbearable & then they took away the one semi quiet place you could go work...for more construction. Pool is still not working for winter use. They've added one little bench to the gym that's super cheap. The grounds are terrible. Old management really took care the plants & liter but now you're lucky to see any sign of life in the plants. No upkept done in dog area with leaves which all get super slippery after raining which is dangerous. I also can't tell you the last time they've vacuumed the halls or cleaned the elevators. No one is ever in the leasing office to help. They supposedly live in the building so just take off when they want & they've shortened hours. Concierge is forever rotating & they never have any idea what's going on really. It's also no longer 24/7 & no security. We still have to pay for parking but they let anyone park inside. Which is great but why do we still have to pay? They cleaned the garage but all the stuff they washed off got all over the cars & was horrible to get off. The grill area is cool but there's NEVER any gas to use them....maybe one tank for 4 grills?? We are between 2 7/11s in walking distance??I really wish there was more signage around to guide guest because the buildings aren't labeled and everyone always gets lost. There have been a lot of decent changes but it takes away the personal feel to the community. I miss the family feel in the office and workers here. ----------------------------Ive lived here for over 6 months. Overall I am pleased with the location, neighbors, & complex. I haven't had any issues I knocked stars off for things I feel I was mislead about when initially signing my lease. Since living here, they have recently change management that seems to be working to make changes & upgrades. Pros: location. Despite being off a busy road, it's not loud in my apartment at all. Also surrounded by a plethora of grocery stores & food places. Proximity to old town & DC is a plus. Apartment size is great for my family. Love the extra closet spaces. Also our unit is a semi upgraded unit so appliances are stainless & new. Cleanliness is amazing. The hallways, trash rooms & even outside areas are kept rather clean. Very rarely see litter or things laying around. Cons:Pool. I was told that the pool was "year round" and while they do leave it open...it's not heated. When signing I picked this place for the sole reason we'd be able to use the pool in the winter....which we aren't. Call box: another big reason I signed here is for the call box and the ability to allow ppl in by using a code instead of having to track all the way down stairs. There is a code that we can use that goes to the front desk but typically in the evenings I guess they are busy & it never works. The call box has never worked since moving here & is super disappointing Lack of trash cans& pet cleaning stations. You'd think that with being such a pet friendly complex, there'd be more than two pet stations. I wish they had mess stations at the elevators or something for when pets have accidents (bound to happen & impossible to clean up once it does) also there are like all of two maybe three trash cans available on the property which is just odd to me. Safety issues. It's really dark in some areas on the property. Specifically leaving building one due to a lamp post light being out. It's been out since I moved here so idk why they haven't had it fixed. Overall, I enjoy living here. Def think there could be improvements but for the location, price & size of units it's great! Love that the new management is replacing locks with keyless entry & smart thermostat. Hopefully they add some more family friendly features & expand the gym

Unfortunately with the new management Customer service has went down the toilet! The concierge does not care about helping tenants anymore. I see concierge and management leaving the main office and laughing around the property while people are waiting on their packages to be given to them. I also had a very dangerous experience. There was a fire in the apartment across the hall from me and I pulled the fire alarm. IT DID NOT TRIGGER THE ALARM, IT DID NOT WORK! I told the concierge desk and I was brushed off. The person said "do you want me to call the fire department ? They are going to kick you out of the building" luckily the tenants in the other apartment put the fire out(it was in the oven). But the entire hallway was Smokey and there was a smell of smoke lingering throughout the floor for a couple hours after that. What if the fire spread ? So many possibilities and the fire alarm did not work. But on a positive note maintenance is good and my rent is a pretty good price.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to do the forced parking spaces AFTER you fixed the elevators? This way those who aren't in the basement have access to timely elevators? Also, what is the purpose of the parking spaces? Everything was great before. Why are y'all doing this?

Moved here under the old management team because the price was great and they had a shuttle. I have never had any issues with pests/ rodents. A few months later a new management team came in and started making necessary changes like upgrading to keyless entry, landscaping, repainting etc. those are great, but where is the shuttle? They've been saying it's broken but it's been months and no info regarding when it will be fixed. In addition, the keyless entry app has issues and sometimes the community doors are open which is a safety concern. The loading docks stay open all night long which is another safety concern bc you can access the building. The elevators breakdown often and that's annoying if you're on a higher floor. The leasing team is a joke. It's like 2-3 people who barely work in there. Eva is very passive aggressive when it comes to addressing issues. She acts like she knows how to assist, but you can see her getting flustered when she doesn't know a response. The guy who works in there doesn't know what's going on half the time. I came down for a parking pass for the garage and he didn't even know about the email that was sent out and said the person doing parking passes was gone for the day. Bri is honestly the only helpful person working in there outside of the concierges. I feel like they try to increase the lease renewal prices for those in old units so they can for force them to move out so they can renovate and get more money. They are very money hungry here and don't work with current residents. Also, water, sewer and trash is a shared bill amongst tenants and so the price fluctuates.

Let see they have 4 treadmills machines and only 2 work. 2 ellipticals ..only one work Pet City (piss and fieces) Ghetto. Make sure the tour take r with gym going in side to verify. So far building 2 seems decent meaning I can't hear every thing my neighbor is doing.. unless u walk by the door. Great for short lease.. till next duty station bc of location... Even after they responded to this the machine are still broken... and the other reviews r true

The location is convenient, and the shuttle is reliable. The gym is clean and usually not busy (I never found gym-goers there obnoxious, either). But the buildings allow in-unit smoking, and between cigarette (including funky cigarette) smoke and cooking odors, the floors often smelled. Management is usually responsive - but I moved out five months ago, and they still haven't returned my security deposit (even though I was there when the property manager inspected the place and said it was in much better shape than most people leave their apartments).

Place requires that you make 5x their rent monthly. To be clear I do not stay here, but that requirement was really off putting and just makes you seem poor hearing that response. I currently live in DC and even how expensive it is here...I've never heard of that kind of requirement.
