Detailed Information for Latrobe Apartment Homes

Exercise extreme caution when considering properties listed by the horrible company “AIR Communities” on rental platforms. While their promotional visuals might appear enticing, prospective tenants should be forewarned of a multitude of hidden fees. Beyond the baseline rent, there are significant charges for amenities such as parking, water, and mail services, which often require an additional subscription. The following are crucial observations derived from reviews by past tenants across multiple platforms. It is imperative that you review these insights meticulously to avoid potential regrettable experiences.

Here is 15 reasons why you SHOULD NOT! consider moving into Latrobe Apartment Homes:

  1. Deceptive Advertising: The “flex rooms” are falsely advertised and lack real doors; appliances are old and the place is dirty upon move-in.
  2. Negative Touring Experience: Unfriendly tour guide and inability to view units during the tour.
  3. Poor Leasing Office Coordination: Difficulties in scheduling in-person or virtual tours and unavailability of agents for contact.
  4. Miserable Year-Long Stay: Residents report a disappointing year at the Latrobe with no plans for lease renewal.
  5. Infestation and Health Concerns: Management’s inability to address mouse infestation, impacting health and living conditions.
  6. Unresponsive Leasing Center: Complex application process with hidden fees and subpar maintenance responses.
  7. Flooding Incidents: Recurrent water outages due to pipe bursts, leading to personal property damage.
  8. Pressure on Lease Terms: Management pressuring residents into unfavorable short-term leases.
  9. Security and Theft Issues: Reported thefts from garage with lack of follow-up by management.
  10. Superficial Renovations: Renovations cover up underlying issues of an old, compromised building structure.
  11. Construction Disruptions: Ongoing construction noise and regular water supply interruptions.
  12. Frequent Flooding: Multiple apartment floods due to construction-related issues.
  13. Disturbed Peace: Fire alarms set off without cause, leading to disruptions at night.
  14. Hidden Lease Terms: Lease clauses that may lead to substantial penalties for breaking the lease early.
  15. Declining Building Quality: Building’s appearance contrasts with internal structural and management failings.

We have experienced 3 floods in our apartment within the past few months due to problems during construction. The fire alarm has also been pulled or set off twice within a short time period in the middle of the night. Due to construction, ...

Not worth the headache of the poor management. Theft occurs from the garage and though they comment saying to reach out, they don't respond.

Unresponsive leasing center. Overly complicated application + $50/mo in hidden fees which they have not waived. Cheap appliances and things keep breaking. Dirty (they did a poor job cleaning when I moved in). Whole food trucks come every morning to wake you up.

Here to echo and editorialize on some of the recent reviews. I lived at Latrobe for two years. The first year was pleasant and uneventful. The building was quiet and well maintained, and the maintenance team was friendly, responsive, and ...

DO NOT LIVE HERE! Aside from Shara, who is wonderful and incredibly helpful, this place is seriously awful. You can bank on at least one of the elevators (of two) being broken at all times and having to wait 10 minutes for an elevator thats not completely full. The AC in our apartment continuously broke every month. Maintenance would occasionally just let themselves into our apartment without warning and sometimes forget to the lock the door when leaving (they once left our door unlocked all day while we were at work). You will get charged for every little thing so don't expect to get your security deposit back, even if you leave your apartment in pristine condition upon move out. TRUST ME - you can find a much better apartment building than this for way less than this place ends up costing you. just dont do it. the only plus is the roof which is a nice amenity, but you can get this in most luxury buildings, which - make no mistake - latrobe is advertised as and is 100% not.

Issues with horrible and inept management, theft, and flooding to name a few. They will also pressure you to sign up for a "short-term lease" when DC law states that tenants can move month to month after the initial term lease. They're shady and new management is purchasing the building in July but still wouldn't recommend.
