Detailed Information for Monterey Grove Apartments

Exercise extreme caution when considering properties listed by the horrible company “AIR Communities” on rental platforms. While their promotional visuals might appear enticing, prospective tenants should be forewarned of a multitude of hidden fees. Beyond the baseline rent, there are significant charges for amenities such as parking, water, and mail services, which often require an additional subscription. The following are crucial observations derived from reviews by past tenants across multiple platforms. It is imperative that you review these insights meticulously to avoid potential regrettable experiences.

Here is 20 reasons why you SHOULD NOT! consider moving into Monterey Grove:

  1. Poor Parking Arrangements: Inadequate guest parking, residents must pay for parking spots, and vehicles frequently towed due to mismanagement.
  2. Unresponsive Management: Difficulties in contacting leasing office staff for assistance, with reports of unreturned calls and emails.
  3. Inconsistent Billing and Charges: Unexpected fees upon move-out, including cleaning and damage charges, and disputes over utility bills and late fees.
  4. Security Concerns: Reports of mail and package theft, car break-ins, and inadequate responses to security issues from management.
  5. Inadequate Problem Resolution: Management’s failure to address complaints about noise, pests, and apartment conditions promptly.
  6. Misinformation and Mismanagement: Instances of miscommunication regarding apartment availability, parking assignments, and financial arrangements.
  7. Poor Apartment Conditions: Complaints about bugs, mold, and general uncleanliness upon move-in, with inadequate pre-move-in inspections.
  8. Lack of Transparency: Discrepancies between shown model apartments and actual living conditions, leading to dissatisfaction.
  9. Insufficient Amenities Accessibility: Restrictions on amenity usage, particularly during weekends and holidays.
  10. Disregard for Tenant Rights: Reports of illegal charges and practices, particularly concerning service animals and security deposits.
  11. Excessive Noise: Frequent complaints about noise from neighbors and construction, affecting residents’ quality of life.
  12. Lack of Maintenance: Delayed or inadequate responses to maintenance requests, affecting living conditions and safety.
  13. Unwelcoming Atmosphere: Reports of rude or dismissive behavior from management and staff, affecting resident satisfaction.
  14. Failure to Adhere to Policies: Inconsistencies in enforcing non-smoking policies and other community rules.
  15. Financial Hardships Ignored: Lack of compassion or flexibility from management regarding residents’ financial struggles or emergencies.
  16. Towing and Parking Mismanagement: Frequent towing of residents’ and guests’ vehicles due to poorly managed parking policies.
  17. Unjust Lease Termination Charges: Excessive fees for early lease termination, compounded by poor management communication.
  18. Inflexible Move-Out Notices: Strict move-out notice requirements leading to additional charges for residents.
  19. Exploitative Practices: Perceived focus on extracting fees from residents rather than providing quality service and living conditions.
  20. Environmental Neglect: Lack of cleanliness in communal areas, including trash management and maintenance of outdoor spaces.

Be prepared to fight for parking if you want to move in here. Staff will wait months to assign you parking and also have your car towed from guest spots. The workers are unresponsive and will ask you to investigate if spots are open on your own.

I was hoping to write a positive review of Monterey Grove Apartments even though my mother never lived there or let alone signed a lease agreement. However, that's why it's important I write this review. Our initial interaction with the woman at the leasing office was positive. She answered all our questions and provided several options for us to consider. To be honest I did feel rushed during our initial tour. I should have taken that as a sign. After credit approval and after our second visit when my mother realized the available apartment (which we hadn't seen on the initial visit) and realizing it wasn't large enough and not an ideal location being located on the 2nd floor is when things took a turn. The lady at the leasing office quickly ended our second visit and let us know we would receive the security deposit in several business days. For the record.... NO LEASE WAS SIGNED! It's now November 2023 and it's almost been 3 months and we haven't received the 1,000.00 security deposit back. We have both called several times, left messages and were told there was a discrepancy and the deposit was in process of being returned. I see Monterey Grove is in the business of taking advantage of people especially seniors. It's unfortunate, I will now have to take further actions to get my mother's money back. Not only is it disrespectful to take advantage of anyone but seniors on a fixed income... Shameful. Blessings to everyone who works at Monterey Grove and I look forward to seeing the security deposit returned. I hope this review was helpful and look forward to updating soon. Bryan

Only 10 visitors parking for the ENTIRE complex and NO street parking whatsoever. My vehicle was towed!! When asked where guest should park, front office lady, Brittany, was not helpful at all. THIS COMPLEX ENFORCES PREDATORY TOWING PRACTICES!!!

The actual apartments are decent, but just hope you never need the help of someone from the leasing office. I lived here over a year and on multiple occasions went to the leasing office DURING BUSINESS HOURS, and no one's there luckily they do leave you a phone number to call incase you need to get a hold of someone. But unfortunately no one ever answers and the voicemail box is full. The leasing agents are very attentive during the apartment showing process till you sign the papers. After that you won't hear back from them. Also don't expect to have your packages safely delivered to the package lockers like promised. None of the delivery drivers use the package lockers but instead leave them in the open room next to the lockers. I had my packages stolen and when I manage to get a hold of someone from leasing they just gave me the contact information for the locker company, and told to contact the delivery company. PSA never leave your car pulled over in front of your building the tow truck will not hesitate.

I'm not giving a recommendation for anyone to move into the Monterey Grove, there are a lot of things they need to work on before I would recommend that place. I come over and stay at my girlfriend's place once in awhile and it's pretty close to one of the garbage cans and by Monday morning it is so full it's overflowing and people just throw trash on the ground around the outside, it's disgusting. What makes all of this worse is the manager lives in one of the apartments right by that area and I know people have said things about the garbage but nothing's been done oh, it just keeps piling up week after week. I read the reviews about the parking issues and I think it's ridiculous that the complex doesn't have a space for guests to park, without a parking pass. If you have have two parking spots you might have one that's more than a hundred yards away, if you asked to move closer they send you an email telling you that they're looking into it but that was five months ago, or you might get an email that's telling you somebody already pre-leased it...what the hell, that's just crazy. Now they're throwing a little paint on the building and redoing some of the apartments when people move out, all of this is going to amount to raising the rent again. they have no one that patrols the grounds to pick up trash, they have larger dogs and some of the apartments that I'm sure people are supposed to have, the manager even had a dog that attacked another dog, that's outrageous. I'll just stop there because I could go on all day about things they could do to fix that place up and take care of it and make peopleI'll for the price you pay for an apartment.

If i can just put a zero star i would do it. Management doesn't care at all. They give you nice promises at first and by the time you sign in, they don't respond and care at all. Can i use this as a ground to cancel our leasing? Please advise. Thanks!

Horrible experience so far here. We've lived here for just over three weeks and our new apartment has bugs crawling around everywhere despite putting in a service request for them to come spray. Not to mention that they gave us somebody else's parking spot and almost got my car towed because of their own error. The office representative never gets back to you, you always have to be the one to follow up. And then that got capped off today with my car getting towed from the front parking lot despite the office representative giving me permission to park there. I very clearly asked, "If I park over there I won't get towed right?" And she confirmed. Come to find out I need to pay $425 to get my car back for another one of their mistakes. I need to try and get out of this lease ASAP please. Horrible, horrible, horrible way to take care of your residents.

My experience renting an apartment in this complex was far from pleasant, especially considering the relatively high rental fees. Despite paying for two parking spots, the security was inadequate. My car's windshield was broken, and when I reported it to Camyll, the leasing office manager, I was simply told to "work with your insurance to fix it." Additionally, our parking spots were frequently occupied by unauthorized vehicles, and it was frustrating to constantly reach out to the leasing office to resolve the issue. Please be aware of the nearby construction and the presence of a shelter, as these may impact your living experience. Do a brief research on that. The complex is easily accessible to non-residents, whether they're walking, driving, or even pushing an ice cream cart. Their smart mailbox system can be confusing for delivery personnel, leading to missed or delayed shipments. You'll need to coordinate with the leasing office to retrieve your packages, which can be inconvenient. The leasing office also registered us with the wrong email address, causing issues with account access and rental payments. Despite multiple attempts to correct this, the office's limited availability made it difficult to resolve. The HVAC system in the apartments is outdated, and you'll be fortunate if you don't encounter issues, particularly during extreme weather conditions. No matter how well you maintain your apartment, expect to be charged for painting and cleaning when you move out - it seems like a way for them to make extra money. Lastly, there was a ledger issue, and they eventually sent us only a portion of our security deposit. Overall, my experience was disappointing and frustrating.

The price here is really attractive to me and the interior seem good. However, when me and my roommates applied to this apartment as international student, we are informed I20 can be used as a way to prove financial ability and so we carried on our application. After we submit our application and paid our application fee, the selling manager denied the possibility to use I20 and insist us to find a guarantor which we cannot able to find for the first place. Therefore, we have to abort our application and waste our application money. This misinformation made us lose 120 dollars. I have to say I am very disappointed.

Charge over $300 a month for tenants to park, but front office staff can park in future residents parking while living on the property? This place is vile. The "maintenance" guys are rude and are capable of repairing nothing, the property manager Brittanyee (however you spell her name) is disgusting and will lie out of her ass to your face and cop a little 'tude when she feels superior to you. I'm finally moving the hell out of this cesspool and had a walk-through appointment at 3PM; at 4:15 PM they arrive at my unit, no apology OR explanation for being late. They have 0 regard for your time, all the staff cares about is getting their discount on rent, sitting on their phones in the golf carts, and abusing the parking situation. UPDATE: Uh sorry George, these people DO NOT have passes and they take up the GUEST PARKING WITH NO PASSES. I have photos, the license plate numbers, I trust you still will do nothing to make the situation better.

To sum it up: The parking is horrible (or non existent), and the office management is no better. Upon move in, we were told to park on the red curbs so we could unload our stuff. My boyfriend and I were carrying a dresser up three flights of stairs and moved into the bedroom and by the time we came back our car was towed. The office didn't care and said "well it's a red curb," however there is no actual loading zone at all, and how could we park in our actual parking spot away from our building and carry a dresser all the way down the parking lot? They also did not offer any compensation, so we had to pay $350 to get our car out of the tow yard. When we went to get the car, the tow company said the apartment complex gave them permission to do "random sweeps" of the parking lot. So that was our first impression. Between myself and my two roommates, we have three parking spots. We are very lucky considering many people are still to this day signing leases without designated parking spots. However, each parking spot is $25 per month. There is no overflow parking except the bar next door, next door to that is a trailer park. Literally no where else to park. I've recently seen people parking on the red curbs over night. However they haven't ever been towed. Convenient. The first time someone was parked in my spot was last year when we had just completed an 8 hour drive home from San Diego. We didn't get home until about 3 am, exhausted and just wanting to go to bed. The office had posted contact information of the same tow company who towed me when I first moved in, so I called them when I saw someone parked in my spot. They said there was nothing they could do if the apartment manager wasn't calling to ask for a tow, which they obviously were not going to do at 3 am when it was closed. I asked if it could just be a "random sweep" and they said no, there was nothing they could do. So we had to park at the bar next door and drag all our luggage to our building, which was a huge inconvenience. Remember, this is the spot I pay $25 per month for. We have had people park in our parking spot several times in the past couple months (because they keep accumulating more tenants and don't have the parking spaces to accommodate this). Between the three of us, we have mostly tried to trade off our other two parking spots to be fair to each other while people are parked in our one spot. We have notified Tricia Simmons, the apartment office manager, many times, on the phone and in person, and she does absolutely nothing to help. She says there's nothing she can do, including call the tow company apparently. Again, convenient. The most recent random person who parked in our spot told us "Tricia told me it was okay to park in your spot." This is where our money is going. Shared parking with random strangers that don't have to pay for parking like we do. Something else to remember: this complex requires 60 days notice if you want out of your lease. It does not just end when the lease is up. It is not a 30 day notice. We did not realize it was a 60 day notice which was our fault because it is in the lease we signed 15 months before, but Monterey Grove definitely does a great job of not notifying or reminding tenants of their 60 day notice. We missed the deadline, and we are having to pay an EXTRA $1,000 to get out of this place. When we went to the office to speak about our options with Tricia Simmons, she was so rude and condescending and no help at all. She treated us like we were children trying to do something illegal when we simply just wanted to leave when our lease was up. I've been in customer service my whole life and she has definitely provided the worst I've ever seen. Honestly, the pros just do not outweigh the cons. It's not worth it to live here. Don't do it

The one nicest things about this complex is that they did keep it clean over all. My husband and I travel a lot so we were using the apartment as a base when we would come in from out out town. We had a HORRIBLE experience here at this complex. I am reading some of the reviews and it turns out other residence seem to be having the same issues. There was an error with PG&E and they were billing us for the wrong apartment number. We were not notified of this error for 9 MONTHS!!! We received a huge bill from Monterey Grove stating we owe them close to $2K for PG&E even though we had. been paying the monthly bills and had the statements to prove it. It was like pulling teeth trying to get this resolved, and no one wanted to take responsibly. We kept getting passed on to different departments. I even had the apartment manager tell me that this was not their fault, and there was nothing they could do about it. Unknown to us, you must give 60 day notice to vacate, which in turn they ended up charging us so much more, on top of them trying to collect the PG&E fees!! They charged us a cleaning fee, when we had our apartment cleaned, and damage fees, when there was no damage. They also kept our initial deposit. Very fraudulent, and shady practices here. RENTER BEWARE!!!!!

What a joke. On 7/25/17 I spent about 10 minutes inquiring about and apartment and scheduling a viewing on 7/27/17 for a 10:30 an appointment. I get there on my scheduled time and low and behold no appointment was made. (If you respond to this I'll be happy to screen shot my call log) and on top of that the apartment I was inquiring about was not able to be viewed. Why set up an appointment for me (which never happened) but I came anyways and two why have me show up and you don't even have the apartment I want to look at. I can only imagine if they act like this prior to moving in how much worse will they be if I actually moved in. Just do yourself a favor take your business and money else where.

I wouldn't recommend anyone coming to move here. They show you a demo apartment that's clean and has new appliances. Frm the start you're paying not only the application fee $52 per applicant but the holding deposit $750 as well before actually viewing and seeing the apartment you'll be physically living in. The apartment we were given wasn't even ready for viewing the day before move in when we came to pick up the keys. Supposedly it was being "cleaned" is why we couldn't view it. The day we came to move in there were at least 10-15 flying moths/insects alll over the ceilings and the kitchen cabinets visible. The last tenants hair was literally all over the apartment. In the cupboards, the drawers, the kitchen, the bathroom, the washer and dryer. There was dirt still on the shower walls. The bathroom fixtures had mold and weren't even lined with caulking. The ceiling in the bathroom is lined with mold. The demo apartment they show you doesn't have this creepy pipe directly in the center above your shower. Looks like a legitiment peep hole. The bathroom walls have these long yellow streaks of sweat or whatever frm the steam when showering. Upon opening all the drawers and cabinets to bleach/clean everything down we discovered even more insects and larva/worms especially in the kitchen. We brought management in to show how the apartment wasnt cleaned at all and they offered a credit for the 3 days we were losing in moving because we had to stay in the apartment cleaning. When the day came to give the credit of course no one reached out at all. After contacting them to see what would be done we were then only given a partial credit not the 3 days as promised. They offered to have the same cleaning company they claimed came, to come and clean after the weekend and all our furniture and things would be inside. I think not. If management did their job and inspected the apartments before even allowing the new tenants to come in this could've been avoided. After complaining and being so unhappy in the apartment you would think they'd offer a different or clean unit. Or even offer us the demo which is directly across from this dirty ass apartment they gave us. No nothing. Now only 2 weeks later I still cannot cook inside my kitchen without killing insects. These fucking assholes have the nerve to rent out the demo across from us! Don't believe the bullshit smoking policy when the apartment directly across from the office literally leaves the windows open and you can smell the cigarettes as you pass and walk to the mail room. The management tells you to use the locker system for pkg delivery. You pay the $50 for the year and the courier drops your pkgs at the doorstep anyways. Another rip off. Besides the insects in my direct apartment I've already seen an exterminator company inside the complex my first week here in the first building 11 next to the office. So I'm sure they have a bug problem here and just don't care clearly frm the way we received our apartment. In the hallway there's a giant dead roach that's been there over a week so your leaf blowing/gardener clearly isn't doing their job either. I have more videos and pictures as well. Don't move here! They use COVID as the reason for processing and you as the tenant this is the only way to go through the move in process. Give all the money, application info, and you're signed and locked in up front to get completely something different after moving in. It's a scam.

**UPDATE** 1/11/24 FIVE months after moving out, we still somehow owe them money. We're just gonna pay it and not have to deal with this company or apartment complex ever again. Do yourself a favor and tour other nearby complexes. My husband has lived here for 2 years and I moved in during the 2nd year. Our contract recently ended and could not wait to move out. Since their former, and most competent, representative, Shara, left this place has significantly gone down the drain. No one seems competent. 1. No one from the office, including maintenance, ever leaves a message whenever voicemail is reached regarding important matters leaving you thinking it was a spam call. You reach out to them and you also need to do your own follow up to make sure they're doing their job. 2. Somehow issues turn back to being the renter's fault, and they do not own up to their mistakes, nor ever apologize. 3. We have been charged a cleaning fee when we paid for our apt to be professionally deep cleaned, we even went back and did a final check. 4. We are being charged a "damage" fee for a wear-and-tear paint issue, nothing was damaged. 5. We are being charged a "rent" fee even though we have already paid our final month in full. 6. Our parking spot was taken over by another car. An office staff even casually admitted to overbooking parking spaces. 7. There is no guest parking ever available. 8. They require a 60-day moveout notice, not 30-day like other complexes. 9. They will email you a moveout day notice AFTER the 60-day window so you're either stuck extending your rent to not get fined or pay the late notice fine, which is about $500 over the rent amount. 10. Don't expect to get your deposit back, because somehow you will be fined on everything under the sun from things that have been mentioned previously.

People are so ridiculous and dumb at this place. They have ran credit check twice. And offered an apartment and and when everything checked out we went ahead and got the got the electricity setup and the internet. When it was time to move in they said that they cannot offer the apartment for some dumb reason(bonded apartment) not really sure what i have to do with it. We had to check out early and has to find a place to crash in. When i asked them if they had a different apartment at 4:00 they said that they had a property at their sister property. I had to pick my wife at her office at the same time. I asked them if they can ask a person to stay a little longer and show us the property, they said that they cannot stay a little longer(as it was quitting time) and they have to clock even though it was their mistake. So had to book a hotel again had to pay 400$ for the hotel. And we couldn't look for a different apartment at the same time as all the money we deposited towards the apartment was held up at this place and had to wait 24-48 hours to get the money back. SOOO NOT HELPFUL. SOOO NOT MOTIVATED and SOOOO DUMB. SO WILL NOT RENT ANOTHER APARTMENT AT THEIR PROPERTY OR ANY OTHER SISTER PROPERTIES WHAT SO EVER AGAIN IN MY LIFE

I lived there for 7 years. Absolutely horrible management that was changed 4 times during my 7 years there and they are never available or reachable. There is absolutely no parking for guests, you have to book a spot ahead for guests to visit! I had personal matter and I was out of USA and when I came back I gave a 55 days notice to move out, they charged me for late notice despite all efforts to waive it because I said my honest opinion in the response to the email of "why are you moving out" they just retaliated and didn't care about anything after taking over quarter million dollars from my stay time! What a horrible place to be. If you want zero visitors, no communication, lost mail, and just bad management, go live there. As for the residents, everybody was good and nice neighbors.

When we first moved into Monterey Grove Apartments they gave us a dirty apartment with specks of grease on the kitchen ceiling and there was a hole by the outlet in the middle of the living room. We included it in the resident check list but also reported it to the leasing office. They said to contact maintenance to help clean the ceiling and fix the hole. Maintenance only fixed the hole but never cleaned the grease spots and the dirt left from the previous resident. When summer months came our HVAC system didn't work, and we were suffering from the heat in heat advisory weeks. We mentioned it to Camyll multiple times and maintenance left a portable AC in our unit, but it wasn't functional and unfortunately nothing was truly being done to fix this problem. When winter months came, our HVAC didn't work, and we were freezing during the evenings. Maintenance would contact Mr. Reliable to fix our HVAC issue and Mr. Reliable would claim that it was fixed however the HVAC wouldn't warm up our unit. Xavier was nice enough to leave a portable heater in the unit which actually worked and helped keep us warm during the night, but Monterey Apartments still continued to collect their monthly rent while our HVAC didn't work. We had designated parking spots that we paid separately for monthly and yet we had multiple events where people would park in our spots, and we had to deal with the inconvenience of trying to find somewhere else to park in the meantime. Camyll was rarely available via text or phone and the leasing office hours of operation were limited by only a few days a week. It presented as though the leasing office didn't screen people prior to accepting them into the community and as a result the community was turning to be very rowdy, unorganized, mail was getting stolen from the mailroom, dog owners weren't cleaning up after their dogs on their daily walks, and people were entering the community that didn't reside there making it sketchy and unsafe. When we broke our lease, Camyll and her team charged us acceleration rent fees that didn't apply to us, bringing the total owed much more than was discussed and giving my family and I the shock of a lifetime. Then she claimed that it was a mistake, and they were supposed to fix it however they wanted their advanced rent money to be paid in advance before they went ahead to correct our ledger. My family and I made sure to not drill into the walls and we cleaned the unit after we moved out, however Camyll charged for both repainting and cleaning and took it out of our deposit. I don't recommend this community to anyone.

Our mail room was broken into and our mail was stolen 3 or 4 times including mail containing an 800 dollar check and credit cards that they fraudulently opened. Our cars were broken into and things were stolen. And nothing was done about any of this. So we decided we were fed up with this and moved out 1 month early very little was done to find a tenant so we wouldn't have to pay the full last month of rent so we had to pay everything. The least aimco could have done since they didn't do anything else to provide us with security at our home would have been to let us out of our lease early because of all the problems we had. I had to call maintenance 4 times to reinstall our bedroom door and laundry doors because they took shortcuts and didn't install them correctly which cause both doors to fall of the hinges and once the laundry room door came off the hinges and hit me. On inspection they told us we were responsible for paying for the paint even though no damages were done to the apartment and that is very legally clear. It has been over a month since we moved out and I have not received my security deposit which is legally guaranteed within 21 days. We have called over and over and left messages and no one has called us back regarding this problem. Now weeks later after days and days of contacting we received a call that our security deposit will not be returned because there was a past due balance. Even though we paid our rent through the entirety of our lease they still charged us an early termination fee to try to scam us out of more money. Bravo Monterey grove you have to be the sleaziest apartment complex I have ever dealt with.

Had my car towed the first week after I moved in. The spot I paid for was not properly stenciled and was occupied. I parked in guest parking and because I was not displaying a parking pass (which by the way Monterey Grove never issued because they were "unavailable") Property management staff admitted that a mistake was made and that Monterey Grove was going to offer a full refund in the form of a refund from the tow company or reduced rent..... Two disappointing months later and both parties have been ignoring my request and have failed to keep their word.. THIS is the type of treatment you can expect.

Horrific parking. No adequate parking. Your guests can't park in the complex they have to park up to a half a mile down the road. The handicapped parking is used by people who don't have mobility issues and just use the placard.

Horrible experience here. They towed my car even though I'm a resident here. If you don't have a visitor pass, they will tow you without warning and make you pay over $400 to get your car. My car was towed even though there were so many empty spots and it was in the visitor lot with a note. It's just a way for them to make money. In order to get a pass, you have to visit the office but we've gone multiple times and they are never there even during business hours. Absolutely ending our lease early (which costs 2 months rent btw). AC is also broken and no one is fixing it. Worst experience I've ever had with an apartment community. I've never left a review for any place until now. There's literally nowhere to park your car. Please do yourself a favor and live somewhere else.

This is the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. Sure the interior is nice, but the office staff is horrible. 1. Upon first moving into the apartment, my car was towed. Many times, other residents have parked in my spot and I have notified the office yet nothing was done. Finally, I had to park in someone elses spot because there was absolutely no parking available and someone was in my spot. They towed my car instantly and I had to pay $500 out of pocket. 2. I have a dog that is a REGISTERED SERVICE animal, and via California state laws, it is illegal for property management to charge security deposits or monthly fees for said animals. After bringing a highlighted copy of the law into her office, Patricia Simmons insisted that I still needed to pay a security deposit for the animal which is very ILLEGAL and interferes with ADA (Americans withes disabilities) regulations. If this doesnt sound like a lawsuit, then I dont know what does. These people are CROOKS!!! Do not move here!!!!!

I've been living here for 7 months already and I have to say the interiors are nice in the Bamboo apartments! But they have problems with the mail, it's always missing or stolen!!! The staff is Horrible and Useless especially when you get helped by Prema, she has an attitude, so rude and helpless, she will make your day miserable for sure! And they NEVER answer the phone!

Wow! Reading the reviews looks like not a lot has changed since I lived there 5 years ago. This place allows tow companies to troll their property looking to tow people on a daily basis. Briefly parked in red zone with my hazzards on for literally 2 minutes to grab something out of my apartment, came out and my car was gone! Place was filty when I moved in. Maintenence slow to respond. Couldn't get out of there fast enough. Paid 4k to terminate my lease early...best decision I ever made!

Be prepared to the lack of parking place if you have a guest with their cars. Since there has been never a single available guest parking permit during our over a year residence. The apartments are tolerable with poor quality white appliances. The gym is super small for such a community. To sum up, if don`t mind the high probability of your or your guests cars to be towed away, this complex provides you an easy access to 85 and 101 freeways.

I have lived here for about 2 years and management has been charging me Gas/Electricity and late fees adding up to $1544.71 for the past 2 months. I pay gas/electricity with PG&E and they continue to insist that I owe them money. I showed them my bank statements and PG&E statements and they are saying that it is not enough. Parking for visitors is terrible. You have to ask for a permit or your car will get towed. I was on vacation once and my car got towed 2 days in a row despite having a permit the second time. I had to pay $600 to get my car back. We just got a new manager/administrator and I have been back and forth with this matter and nothing has been done. Apartments and community are nice but I hear my neighbors upstairs all the time. Poor insulation. My kids love it here because we have made friends but that's about it. More loses than wins.

I lived here for over 9 years incredible place to live. It's beautiful indoors and outdoors. The pool was my favorite. Unfortunately, when I moved out in March 2023 ...management could have done better a lot of confusion and didn't value this single mom who called Monterey Grove home ....I wish Monterey Grove luck in the future in order to do that you should always put clients first. I used to be your biggest Cheerleader when I lived here The place is beautiful but they need stronger management team Felipe was always a professional

Very rude manger. that old lady manager has no respect for others and no sense as how to talk to others. Especially if you are not white, she will show the attitude and will talk loud thinking that she is the owner of all that property and has rights to make the laws. If you have brown skin, be ready to hear the comment "you are illegal" from her. She makes the laws and wants everyone to follow her diktat. Good apartment in the hands of wort management that I have seen in 15 years.

I never signed a lease. I waited over a month for an apartment to become available. I paid my $1000.00 deposit plus application fee of $50 to hold the apartment until I was able to view it. I was able to see the apartment 2 days before a tentative contract date. Which was October 1st 2023. After seeing the apartment I saw it was too small. The agent said I would receive my deposit within 10 days. It is now November 8th and I have not heard from Monterey Grove. I believe they have blocked my calls

No one ever answers the phone for the leasing office. No one is ever in there when we need anything. The guest parking passes are always out or they don't give them out.

I recently contracted the Covid-19 virus in September and was out of work for approximately 6 weeks. I shared all of this with the managers, just so they would be aware of my financial circumstances. I have emailed and called their out of state "Rent" team, to be ignored regarding requests to waive late fees and to make payments on my account. This company needs to recognize that "no response, is a response". I am very sad to see that the management has taken such a negative position in regards to helping the residents that continue to make this property their home. I have emailed the management, no response. I am now going to attempt to reach out to the corporate office. I am very surprised at how this community has turned around in 1 year. Very disappointing.

Good place to live overall. Customer service is not really good. It is really hard to get in touch with the community manager (phone, text message, or email), they just don't answer. If you want to talk to them, you have to be on guard in their office until someone comes in (not respecting working hours published on their portal).

The parking has been a nightmare since we moved in...but the management team has worked hard to come up with a solution to a problem that existed prior to their working for Monterey Grove. There is some loud tenants above our apartment...but otherwise, the neighborhood is clean, maintained. The staff is friendly, helpful and approachable. My husband and I would prefer a closed gate instead of everyone flowing in all the time, but not much can be done about this. Overall, we feel Monterey Grove is an okay complex, and we like the staff.
