Beyond the baseline rent, there are significant charges for amenities such as parking, water, and mail services, which often require an additional subscription. The following are crucial observations derived from reviews by past tenants across multiple platforms. Reviews for Vista Apartment Homes
I'm incredibly frustrated with my experience here and can't wait for my lease to be up so my family and I can move out. Despite keeping my apartment clean, I've been dealing with roaches, which is very annoying. There is always trash piling up outside in the back of the building, making the place look unkempt. The elevators break down at least once a month, and when they do work, they are often dirty from careless tenants - I constantly see spills and messes. I've also recently started noticing dog poop right outside the building, which is disgusting. There's a huge security issue with the mailboxes here as well. They're not secure at all - you can literally pull open a mailbox and access anyone's mail. Someone actually went through my mail, and I couldn't find an important piece of mail for almost three weeks. When I finally found it, it was in the corner of the hallway, already opened. This is a major security concern, especially if sensitive information like social security numbers were being delivered. To make matters worse, I had a package stolen earlier this year, and the tenant who took it still lives in the building. Overall, this place has been a nightmare, and I would not recommend it to anyone.
This review was written in 2016. Apartments are OK, a little over priced but Ok. Staffs here are soooo rude!!! Especially, the new manager, Michelle. She changed the concierge and package hours, and notified residents on the same day. She's just super rude. Too many things. Generally she just not a good person.
Very overpriced yet crappy apartments. For such a high price there shouldn't be roaches all over the place ! Extremely drafty windows, trashy window unit air conditioners and barely functioning heat. The lobby is a mess with broken vestibule doors and broken mailboxes. Parking garage turns are extremely sharp feels very unsafe. Avoid at all costs
Maintenance is not 24hrs & if you are locked out a lock smith cannot get into the locks. Need better strategies for these situations
PLEASE READ NEGATIVE REVIEWS !!! If I could give 0 stars I would. Let's first start with the fact that unit I lived it had problems almost weekly. My water was never fixed under sink in the bathroom , they did a terrible job fixing anything in here. I am so glad to be out of here because lord knows I couldn't go another week. Management team shows no compassion to tenets , they complain when you get help from organization to pay rent and Dana she has a weird air about her and just sits in her office and ignore emails until they are ready to kick you out. Christopher who left was by far the best I'm sad he left. This apartment tried to get me to remove my old review and they ironically got people to put good reviews when they know this place is so terrible. From a roof with dog poop , trash and food on it. The hallway smell like a garbage truck , the electricity went off due to having on heat in all rooms in -12 degrees. The lobby is probably the only thing they keep clean , there is poop on the roof , the mail room is a hot mess , packages all over the place, doors broken , street people sleeping in the room by the gym this was just a mess. I would never live here again they need either hire new management or shut down because they suck. DO NOT LIVE HERE !!
Terrible maintenance
they stole part of the security deposit
Absolutely terrible. I'm going to write this review in bulleted form so it's easy to follow instead of a massive paragraph -Moved in July 2013, lived in Vista for two years -First year was fantastic with Carmen as manager and Dorisa as leasing agent. Repairs were done efficiently, building was in good quality, there was a night guy, Tony, who took packages, handled alarms at night, etc. -I stayed on for a second year since I loved the place. RIGHT AFTER THAT, Carmen and Dorisa left and new management came in. HORRIBLE!!!! -There have been countless staff changes since. The latest woman, Suzanne, literally said to me once when the service was terrible and I complained, "I could be sleeping right now. I don't have to be here in this building." And that was because I was asking for my pending repair of over a month to please be fixed. -They fired Tony the day of and said that they were getting a real security service. Tony was there every night from 6pm to 2am and handled everything. The new "security" is a woman who sits on her phone and doesn't get up only on Fridays from 6-10pm. That's it. -Repairs are never done on time -The office is often empty during office hours and nobody is there to help -I got charged hundreds of dollars off of my security deposit for nothing, even though there were no repairs and currently, I am on hold on the phone with them because it has been 33 days since I moved out and I have received no charge sheet, no info AND NO DEPOSIT. I had to call them and figure this all out on my own -You can't get packages after 6pm so forget about trying to get your shipments after work. Truly a terrible building. Poor quality. Don't live here. I'll update if my refund is different from what they said or later than the 40 days it's about to be.
I signed a lease with Vista for a year, and was begging to get out of it by the ten months. First off, it is very overpriced for the location and the age of their apartments. The worst part was their TERRIBLE inability to handle any problems in a decent time period. We had to get our thermostats replaced TWICE because they were simply not working. My room mate and I lost hot water many times, and it would take days for them to fix it. I did not have heat working in my bedroom for 2 weeks, because they kept insisting that they would send someone and they never did. At one point in the winter, my thermostat CAUGHT ON FIRE (clearly there is a wiring problem). I called them when the office opened at 9. When I got back to the building at noon, I spoke to the office and they said no one had told them about it! My room mate and I are full time students and are rarely home during the day. Our heating bills during the winter ranged from 250-400 dollars! For a two bedroom apartment! They claimed it was because this winter was "exceptionally cold". Additionally, they have AC units that stick out of the building and during the winter, there is a brutal draft that comes in and makes the heat extremely ineffective. Also, a pipe burst during the winter, essentially turning the lobby into a lake, and because they have no maintenance people in the building, we had to wait hours for maintenance to come and turn off the alarm. This was an issue at least twice a month, in which an alarm would go off in the middle of the night, and we would have to wait up to 3 hours for a maintenance person to come and switch it off. Fire fighters did not have access to it. Also, one night when the alarm had been going over for 45 minutes, I decided to call 911 to see if they were coming, and the responder told me that no one had notified them of the fire alarm going off. Effectively, the buildingis extremely unsafe and has an inefficient emergency response. Additionally, it is not a smoke free building, and towards the end of my lease, the apartment below me smoked excessively and my apartment reaked of cigarettes. I told them it was impossible to live in and she said they would be in "air fresheners" in the vents. Two weeks later, it was still terrible, and she said "whoops, we actually just got the fresheners in and we will put it in". Currently, we have been moved out of the apartment for over 3 months and they have still not sent us our safety deposit. They are extremely inadequate in solving the countless issues that come with such an old building, and living there was one problem after another. I have told everyone I know to not live here because I would never want anyone to have to go through all the inconveniences that we had to deal with. Many residents I ran into had the same complaints and subsequently did not renew their lease.
I lived here as my first apartment as an undergraduate student. I was new to apartment living and of course came prepared with many questions. The management at the vista apartments were so rude and mean to me I couldn't believe it. Jeff answered all of my questions in the rudest ways possible every single time and talked down to me as if I was a child speaking to him. I tried my best to always remain kind but it was disheartening the way I was being treated. I hated living here because of how rude they treated me and decided to not extend my lease due to these problems. The blinds in the apartment are horrible and the bathrooms and underkept with furniture decaying. My bathtub had the bottom of it peeling up the entire time I lived here. I recommend finding a nicer management staff when choosing a place to live, it's not worth it here.
Very bad service, my room's door is very strong and I tried many times to open it but it did not work. I contacted them, they said I will be here in an hour!!! The worst apartment. The worst accommodation Ferran has ever seen in an apartment and bad service. I advise everyone not to live there as there are many options on City Avenue.
I wouldn't stay again if I go back there, not recommended
Worst apartaments in my life.
it looks just awful !!
Its been a problem from water shutoffs to electric problems, also the freight elevators never works. Only responds is we apologize. Family be living here since July with furniture still in storage because of all the issues the building its having.Time to look elsewhere, will not refer anyone here
Horrible! Leasing office claimed rents were different each time we called, because of "market rates", conveniently increasing the quoted rent each time (this was across 2 weeks) then when we went for a tour, no one was in the office, and the maintenance worker had to give us a tour. Turns out the office was empty because they were IN COURT!! On our way out we asked an employee who has worked with the building for 7+ years if the building was good, and he said "run, don't walk from here. This place is a vertical slum". That should tell you everything. Units themselves seem nice and the location is great, but otherwise absolutely abysmal and sketchy experience with these people. Red flag after red flag. I would avoid at all costs.
If you have a chance to find another location, I would strongly recommend you to! The good thing about this apartment is that it has great location and it is convenient. However, the staff here does not do their job. The utility, especially the electricity is way too expensive!!! I paid for almost $300 for electricity in winter while most of the time, my and my roommate are not at home. We only come back home at night time and we do not turn heat on for most of the time. They charged ridiculously high for the move out fee. Even so, I have not received my deposit after 2 months I moved out and I have to keep coming back and forth to negotiate with them and ask the staff to give me an amount of how much I am supposed to get back. Their staff never did their job. Do not choose here. There are many options with good location in this area.
Beware of the maintenance man Mark. I was a tenant here for 2 years. During my move out process Mark went into my apartment and stole my money jug & when confronted about it he acted clueless. Refused to run the cameras back claims they don't work was put there for decoration when cops got involved he suddenly found my money jar on a different floor inside of an empty apartment and instead of returning it to me physically he proceeded to put it inside my vehicle without me being present.
I lived there until the end of 2019, and the property manager was the worst I have ever seen. The building and apartments (mine was 10th floor) are full of mice and rats, as well as giant cockroaches. Whatever you ask the maintenance to fix the answer is "that's impossible". I am so glad that moved out from there.
I have been stranded in the elevator over 6 times. The help button on the elevator doesn't work. I literally have to take the steps each time I need to leave or enter the building. I recently spoke to another tenant who uses a walking aid- she told me she was stranded at one point for 30 minutes!!!! In addition, your delivered package isn't safe. The staff leaves your package in an unlocked room during business hours so anyone can pick up any box they please. If your items get missing, the building isn't responsible for it. Years ago, there was a security guard who made sure the proper tenant got their package and signed for it during off work hours. These days, the only way you can access your delivered package from the aforementioned room (provided it hasn't been stolen already) is by waiting until the leasing office opens for business. This is such a hassle for working professionals who keep a 9-5. Finally, when you raise a concern instead of being proactive by reaching out to you, the team sends you a number to call. If that's not the worst model for customer service then I don't know what is. If you see entirely serious about the well-being and general concerns of your tenants, call them and rectify the issue! The issue here is an indication of how poorly run the property company is. This post doesn't reflect the workers who have little say in how things work. In all honestly, Kyree, Bruce, and Clev have oftentimes gone above and beyond for me but this doesn't address the polices in how packages are held or the broken elevator...or the smell of weed on my floor each weekend (but that's a story for another day) Great location, good view of the city. Poor operation for the price you pay.
The location is convenient and safe. We were excited with the new management to bring improvements but unfortunately, they are making things worse! The rent has been raised and the maintenance request takes forever to be seen and sometimes the request is closed without taking a look at the issue. The new management are focusing on increasing the rent and applying fees instead of working on improving the building. They CHARGE all residents if someone throws away furntures in the dumbing area!! The services elevator has been broken for a long time and parking lots are falling apart. I hope things get better in the future.
Freight elevator been down since the summer, can't move furniture in.
Nice location. The apartment was ok but the hot water last not long so you have to be quick in bath. And the worst part is their heat, which is too expensive about 500 dollars a month in the winter if you turn it on all day, and it is totally not warm!
I've been living at VISTA apartments for about a month. My overall experience thus far is not terrible, but it's definitely not where I would want it to be for the price that I'm paying. The apartment was not completely ready when I arrived. There were several things that were overlooked or not attended to prior to move-in. For example, the master bedroom's bathroom shower was broken and the knobs for the water were switched to opposite sides (i.e. H is written on cold water knob and C for hot water). My mailbox wouldn't open upon move-in, so I've had things sent to a P.O. Box and I'm probably going to keep the box open since packages here are put in an open room for residents to come by and the front door is open during the day which means my packages are susceptible to theft. Because Vista is within the same network as my previous apartment in a different state, I believed that it would have the same quality, but thus far it's fallen short in several areas. However, one saving grace is that the maintenance guy Bruce has come by to fix some of the issues and even fixed an issue that I hadn't requested. Also, the staff here has been nice, but the quality of the apartment is just subpar. With this one, you just pick your battle. In my search, it's been one of the better options in Philadelphia.
